Like a river flows surely through the sea, darling so it goes...some things are meant to be.
-Elvis Presley, Can't Help Falling in Love

November 14th, 2014- Chicago, IL

April Mendez walked into Pequod's Pizzeria with a look of confusion on her face. She had received the weirdest text from Alex this morning begging her to meet up at their favorite pizza shop. She scanned the restaurant twice, not seeing her friend, and was about to walk out to call her when a waving hand suddenly caught her attention. She squinted her eyes and started towards the person at the very back of the restaurant. As she got closer, she could tell it was Alex...if only by the bottom half of her face. Her long, strawberry-blonde hair was all piled under a solid black beanie and huge glasses covered her green eyes. She wore baggy, loose clothing and really just didn't look like herself at all.

"Hey Alex, what's going on?"

Alex slowly took her glasses off and April noticed her eyes shift to look behind her, searching the front of the pizzeria and looking out into the busy street. Her eyes eventually made their way back to her friend and her stress was very apparent.

"You weren't followed here, right?"

April's eyebrows shot up and she leaned forward, whispering.

"Why would someone follow me? Who's looking for you?"

A sigh escaped Alex and she smiled weakly, "Jon."

"What happened between you? Is he angry about something?"

Alex reiterated to her about the night she and Jon shared and the confrontation with Renee the next morning. She groaned out loud and cradled her head in her hands, elbows planted firmly on the table.

"I just didn't know what to do, April, so I left."

"Did you tell him you were leaving?"

"No...I did leave a note."

April smirked, "So you guys banged and then you dipped out. And...what? Has he called you?"

"Yes, several times. He's sent me probably 20 texts as well and I know for a fact he's in Chicago, looking for me. He doesn't know where I live so he can't find me."

"How do you know he's here?"

Alex fished her phone out and pushed a few buttons before placing the phone in front of April. As the brunette peered at it, she saw a list of texts from Jon, each increasing in length.

Hey, where'd you go?

Alex, are you ok? You haven't gotten back to me.

Alex, please let me know you're ok. I'm starting to get worried that something happened to you.

Ok, I actually went on twitter and saw that you're home. Did you lose your phone? I'll message you on twitter...if I can remember my fucking login.

Messaged you and still haven't gotten any word. Why are you avoiding me? Did I do something wrong last night? C'mon cupcake...talk to me.

The fuck? What did I do that was wrong? Do you not believe I really broke up with Renee. Because I did. I am totally with you and that's what you wanted.

Fuck this shit. I'm coming to Chicago. I'm catching the red eye and I'll be there in the morning. What's your address? We're going to talk about this. I want to be with you and you want to be with me so I don't know what happened but we're gonna fix this.

Alright, I'm in Chicago and we need to get together. You still haven't texted me your address but I'm gonna find you, cupcake. I've got my ways and you know how fucking determined I can be. I have no idea what's got you so fucking scared but please just talk to me.

April's eyes were as wide as possible, "Wow...he is quite determined. Do you want to talk to him?"

"I do but...I'm scared."

"Why is that, honey?"

"He's probably really mad at me for leaving the other morning."

"Maybe. I'd say he's going to be more mad that you've been ignoring him for two whole days. You're going to have to see him tomorrow at the house show anyway so why not just meet today and get everything settled so it's not super awkward tomorrow."

"But what if he doesn't forgive me?"

"Just explain your feelings. If he doesn't understand, then that's on him and he'll have to get over it."

"But then things will be awkward at work."

"Yeah probably, but I truly believe you guys can work this out."

A sly grin graced the features of the Divas champion, "So...you really like him, don't you?"

A goofy grin overtook Alex's expression, "I do. He makes me feel things I've never felt before, most of which scare the shit out of me."

"Ha, that's called love, Alex. God, when I first realized how I felt about Phil, I thought we'd never be actually together because I was so frightened. But look at us now...happy and in love and married almost six months. I wouldn't trade it for the world. All the nerves and insecurities were worth it."

"But what about what Renee said? What if he gets bored and finds someone else who holds his interest better? I don't want to willingly go into this if I know that my heart's going to most likely get broken."

"Hey, what can I say? Phil was a heartbreaker too before we got together. I had to work with so many girls who had him before I did and I won't lie, there were moments I was really pissed about it. But like I said, all worth it. Alex, nothing in this life is certain but when you find someone who loves you, someone who wants to be with you who you can actually see a future with...you jump on it."

"I don't know, April…"

"Alex, listen to me. I've seen you guys in the ring and out of it. You guys are magical together. You radiate this natural energy that is all the two of you and nobody else. People tell me that Phil and I do the same thing. Answer me this...does he make you laugh and smile?"

"Yes."

"Do you believe he cares about you?"

"Yes."

"Could you see a future?"

"Yes."

"Is the sex great?"

Alex blushed, "Yes."

"Are you falling in love?"

She hesitated before answering, "Yes."

"Then, you are crazy if you don't follow this through. Even if it eventually ends in heartbreak, you'll never regret falling in love. One more question: have you ever been in love before?"

Alex thought long and hard about this. Sure, she'd had boyfriends and been on countless dates, but had she ever truly been in love? Had she ever come close to feeling even half of what she already felt for Jon? With a sad shake of her head, she knew her answer.

"No."

April smiled, "Then you gotta do this. Falling in love is the greatest thing in the entire world."

Alex smirked at the pint-sized diva in front of her, "How did I ever get so lucky to be able to call you my friend?"

April just shrugged her shoulders, "I don't know, I'm just awesome, I guess."

They shared a laugh at her assumed importance.

"Your husband's ego is brushing off on you...at all."

"Hey, my husband is amazing!"

"I know and so are you."

They stood up and hugged before walking slowly out of the restaurant.

"So, you're going to talk to Jon, right?"

Alex sighed, "Yeah, I guess I should text him back and give him my address."

"Oh, no need."

Alex peered at April, who did her best to look innocent, but failed miserably.

"What did you do, April?"

The smaller woman turned so that they were no longer walking and faced her friend.

"Well, when you texted me so suddenly, I thought it might be about Jon and then, before I got to Pequod's, Phil texted me and told me Jon got in touch with him trying to find you. So, I told Phil to take Jon to your building. He's waiting there for you."

Alex was so quiet that it actually scared the Divas champion. She was expecting to get a punch to the face or at least a good screaming fit. Instead, after a few moments, Alex's face returned to a normal, serene expression.

"It's ok. I should be pissed at you and Phil, but you know what? I'm not. Let's go. I need to have a very long conversation."

The girls briskly walked the three blocks to April's building and, after a long, tight hug, separated. Alex walked at a leisurely pace back to her own building six blocks away. She knew she should hurry because Jon was awaiting her, but she took the time to try and form enough coherent thoughts to defend herself should an argument arise. She knew Jon would be a little ticked and she didn't want her thoughts to get too jumbled, considering she already knew his presence would rattle her a little. She needed to be strong and complete in her wants and needs or there was the risk that he'd just run right over her. He didn't mean too, but Jon had a forceful personality and sometimes it just happened.

She rounded the corner to the front of her building and sure enough, all 6'4" of him was leaning against the pillar by the front door. She took a moment to drink him in before making contact. He looked really, really good. He was in a dark pair of regular jeans that hung off his hips in all the right ways, a black wifebeater that stretched tight over his abs and his customary roughed-up leather jacket. He looked absolutely delicious and she had to stop the drool that was already forming in her mouth.

Remember Alex, you need to stand your ground. Stay strong.

She took a few steps forward and caught his attention. His head turned in her direction and the look on his face made her pause in her next step. He wasn't glaring in anger, but he wasn't smiling either. His face was completely impassive except for a slight glimmer in his bright, blue eyes. She opened her mouth to say something, but couldn't come up with anything that didn't sound stupid or ridiculous. He took her pause and suddenly strode forward, catching her by surprise and making her wary. His footsteps could only be described as stalking and a slight fear took a hold of her.

"Jon...I…"

What he did next truly shocked her. Instead of screaming in her face like she thought he was about to, he grabbed her head gently between his hands and leaned in to kiss her. She couldn't properly respond for a few seconds but it didn't matter. He kept kissing her, pouring everything he had into making her feel good. Her hands eventually acted of their own volition and came up to curl in his dishwater curls, pulling him even more into her. She didn't know how long they stood on the Chicago sidewalk just reconnecting like this, but ultimately she didn't care. She had thought his first instinct would be to tear her a new asshole and instead, he was kissing her in the sweetest possible manner, his hands firmly locked on her hips, probably to prevent her from escaping. She wouldn't even try. There was nowhere in the world she wanted to be other than right here and when the kiss eventually ended, she missed it already. She opened her eyes to meet Jon's and noticed that there was a sheen to them, as if he was on the verge of tears. She was about to ask him what was wrong, but he beat her to it.

"I'm sorry. Whatever I did, Cupcake, I'm sorry. Just tell me what I did so I can fix it."

She shook her head, mad at herself, and wrapped her arms around him, pulling him into a huge hug. What had she done? She thought he would blame her for avoiding him and here he was blaming himself for doing something to drive her away, which was the furthest thing from the truth. When they were together in Liverpool, he'd been a perfect gentleman and it had been her insecurity and weakness that had made her flee. She had to make him see that. Still holding onto him, she whispered fiercely in his ear.

"Jon, you didn't do anything, ok? I just got scared and ran away. I'm so sorry that I did that and then I ignored you and just made everything worse. I never wanted you to blame yourself."

He pulled back, "Then why'd you leave? I thought you wanted to be with me."

"I do…"

She glanced around, noticing they were still on the busy sidewalk, and grabbed his hand, entwining their hands.

"Come on, let's go upstairs. We can talk there."

He somewhat reluctantly followed her and eventually they made it up to her apartment after an elevator ride spent in silence. Their hands were still clasped together and she would rub her thumb over his in what she hoped was a comforting manner. He didn't respond in any way, just stared straight ahead. When she opened the front door and followed her in, she stepped into the kitchen to set all her bag down and get them some beers. His attention was drawn into the adjoining living room and the huge bookshelf on vinyl records on the wall. Perusing them while she was busy, he saw they were alphabetized and he thumbed through, seeing a lot of his favorite bands and ones he knew she loved as well. Getting further along, he noticed one that surprised him slightly and pulled it out, looking at the track listing on the back, thoroughly impressed. The soft padding of her feet alerted him to her presence and he set the album to the side, wanting to play it later if he could.

"So, I'm sure you have a million questions for me," she began, "where do you want to start?"

He peered at her and thought for a moment, "Why'd you leave without saying anything?"

"One word: Renee."

"I already told you that it was over and done with. I had broken up with her and hadn't had feelings for her in months."

"No, Jon, I know that. She came by the morning after we were together."

The surprise was clear on his face, "Oh? What'd she have to say?"

"I think she wanted to fix things between you two, but when I told her what had happened…"

A laugh escaped him, "You told her that we slept together? Cupcake, there's a sadistic streak in you. I like it."

She smirked back at him, "Yes, I told her...and then she told me a story."

The smile dropped from his face.

"Oh yeah? What?"

"About a girl you used to be with. Said her name started with an M and you left her for Renee. She started going on and on about how you'd eventually get tired of me and find someone shiny and new. I know that I shouldn't listen to her, but I don't know, something struck a cord."

He was stunned into silence and slowly took a seat on her couch. She came to sit beside him and gently slid her hands into his, squeezing them softly. His eyes slowly rose to meet hers and he looked completely dejected. She gave him a small smile.

"Jon, just be honest with me. That's all I've ever wanted. Please just tell me the story so we can fix this. I'm not Renee or any other girl, you know that. I'm gonna try my best not to judge you."

He looked down again and sighed, slowly nodding his head.

"Her name was Molly and...I thought she was everything. I was in love with her and I thought that she was just as in love with me. We were together for a while and I was gaining more success in NXT and eventually got to the main roster. And I thought Molly was ok with all that, but all she really wanted me to do was get her an audition with the company. She thought that, if she was me, she would have an automatic in and gain fame and fortune. I was a fool to believe that she actually wanted to just be with me when all she wanted to do was sleep her way to the top. I was an idiot."

Alex listened to his story and instantly felt awful for leaving him.

"So, you didn't leave her for Renee?"

"No, I would've left her anyway. Renee just happened to be there. Everything happened so quickly. It's funny that you said you didn't want to be a rebound from Renee because that's exactly what she was. I was so hurt over Molly so I decided my next girlfriend would be nice and respectable."

"But you got tired of her."

"Not tired...just I realized I would never be in love with her like I should. That I wouldn't feel for Renee what I felt for you."

She leaned closer to him and nudged him playfully with her shoulder, "And what do you feel for me?"

A small smile graced his handsome features and he pulled her into his lap so that she was straddling him. One of his fingers came up to stroke her face gently, making her smile in return.

"How's your shoulder, Cupcake?"

She quirked an eyebrow at him, "It's better. Still a little sore, but nothing I can't handle."

"Good," he said and then leaned in to kiss her. She responded in kind and when he pulled back, she laughed.

"What was that?"

He gave her a goofy grin, "Me showing you how I feel about you."

She was still smiling when he kissed her again and laid her back on the couch. Using his forearms to keep most of his weight off her, he kept kissing her, swiping his tongue across her lips to gain access to her mouth. He plunged in and it was a duel for supremacy as she wrapped her legs around his waist to pull him further into her. He grinned and grinded into her, causing them both to moan into the other's mouth. He sat up quickly, pulling his jacket and shirt off, and then stripped her top off too. Her hands acted of their own accord, scratching down his chest, and his eyes darkened with lust. He bent down and attacked her breast, biting down on her nipple through her bra, making her gasp out. He pulled the cup down and ran his tongue over the erect bud, soothing it as his hands worked to pull down her leggings and thong in one sweep.

She laughed, "Someone's in a hurry."

He just smirked up at her, "Well, I wanted to do this wednesday morning but someone wasn't in the bed with me."

Sorrow clouded her eyes and she cupped his face to bring him back up to her.

"I'm so sorry. I just got in my head and Renee said all the right things to make me question everything. It'll never happen again, I swear."

She kissed him softly to make her point and when he pulled back, he nuzzled his neck.

"Cupcake, with my past, you had the right to question. Just next time you do, stay and ask me. I'll always be honest with you, I promise. I'll never lie to you ever again as long as you'll have me."

She smiled and grinded up into him, "Oh, I'll have you alright."

He laughed and made his way down her body, kissing and licking every available inch that he could see of her. When he got to her center, his eyes flickered mischievously to lust-filled ones. He ran one finger down, brushing her clit and making her gasp again.

"Hmm, Cupcake, you're already so wet. Did I make you like this?"

She let out a hushed whine, wanting him to pleasure her so badly, but managed to nod her head, making him grin. He laid a kiss on top of her mound and teased her opening.

"Are you tight for me too? Am I gonna love pounding my dick into your wet pussy?"

He thrusted two fingers into her and she nearly came up off the couch.

"Yes! Oh Jon..."

He continued to slowly pump his fingers in and out of her enjoying the keening whimpers that would escape her. He pushed one of her legs to lay on the back of the couch and he pushed the other one up on his shoulder, giving him unlimited access to her most private area.

"I can feel you tightening already. You gonna come for me, baby?"

A wailing growl was her only response and he bit on the inside of her thigh gently before increasing his pace inside her.

"Jon...hmm, that feels good."

He laid kisses on her thighs, watching her start to writhe and buck slightly. She was so close and he knew just what to do to push her over the edge. He licked his bottom lip and then leaned forward, flicking his tongue over her clit and taking it in between his teeth, sucking hard. Her eyes flew open and she propped herself up on her elbows, watching him with fascination. He kept his eyes on her the entire time and it was the motion of his tongue against her that finally did her in. Her head rolled back and a strangled wail came out of her as she came. He didn't stop doing anything until he was sure she was completely satisfied and had collapsed back against the couch. Slowly bringing her off her high, he felt her hands curl into his hair and slowly crawled back up her body, hovering over her as she came around from her haziness. When she did, she kissed him fully on the mouth.

"I feel so good right now, Handsome."

"I know, Cupcake. Watching you fall apart was the best thing ever."

They continued to make out for a while and then he felt one of her hands slide down his chest. Undoing the button of his jeans, she pushed them down and he helped her take them off. She cupped him through his boxers and hummed in appreciation at his erection. Reaching into his boxers, she stroked him slowly, eliciting low growls from him. Rubbing the tip with her thumb, his kisses became almost frantic.

"Fuck baby, I gotta have you...now."

"How do you want me?"

"Anyway as long you're wet and tight and screaming my name."

He whispered that last sentence, making her even more lustful than she already was, and she quickly spun around to get on her hands and knees. Something about this angle just made the pleasure even better. Looking over her shoulder at him, she winked and whispered back.

"Make me scream, Jon."

He stood up from the couch and eyed her dripping center. Placing one knee on the couch, he ran a hand over her arched back and round ass, just enjoying the feel of her for a moment. Without further ado, he lined up and pushed into her, enjoying her satisfied sigh.

"Feels even better than I remember."

Gripping her hips, he went into a slow, steady rhythm making sure to bury himself to the hilt everytime. His cock would brush her g-spot and she would squeal in pleasure, enjoying the feel of him inside her.

"Faster please...I need you to go faster."

He responded not in words, but in action as he gripped her tighter and sped up his pace, getting faster and faster until her noises were a continuous moan of happy ecstasy. She didn't care that her windows were wide open and the people in the building were probably getting a show. All she cared about was Jon and the pleasure he was giving her at the moment. Her mind was completely blank except for the endless waves that shocked her system. She felt his arm under her breast, pulling her up to lean against him, and reached behind her to latch her arms around his neck. His face nuzzled into her neck and she could hear his soft grunts as he continued to pound into her.

"God, this is the best. I love this, Cupcake."

She agreed with him, "We gotta do this everyday."

"With pleasure."

Keeping his one arm under her breasts to support her back, he moved his other hand to finger her clit. A groan escaped her and her fingers moved into his hair, scratching at his scalp. She didn't know, but this was the one thing a woman could do that always got him off. The mixed sensations had him at the edge of the cliff and he sped up his movements even more, wanting her with him.

"Almost there," he said, gripping her earlobe with his teeth, "You with me?"

"Yeaaaaa...", she drawled out.

Every nerve ending was on fire and she clenched around him, causing him to jolt forward, shooting his seed into her. The feel of it sent her careening off the cliff as well and she screamed his name as loud as she could. They both fell forward, almost all of his weight crushing down on her, but she didn't mind. They were both heaving and trying desperately catch their breath. The ecstasy was almost too much for both of them and their clouded brains couldn't function for a long moment. Once he came back to Earth, he pushed himself onto his elbows and laid lazy kisses down her back before pushing back onto his knees. Grabbing her hips, he turned her around, the languid smile on her face causing his own to come out. He leaned down and captured his lips again, loving the feel of her naked body beneath him. After a moment, an idea came to him and he leaned back up, standing and reaching a hand down to her.

"Dance with me."

She looked at him like he had grown two heads, but only for a moment before grasping his hand and letting him pull her up.

"I don't have to put clothes on, right?"

"I'm certainly not, Cupcake."

Walking over to her records, he grabbed the one he'd laid on top and pulled it out. Laying it on the player set up right beside the bookshelf, he placed the needle down and the song he wanted started to resonate through the room. Turning back to her, he grinned at the sight of her soft smile and walked back to her in the middle of the room. Taking her in his arms, they swayed as Elvis Presley's voice filled the air around them.

Wise men say only fools rush in...
But I can't help falling in love with you

Her head went to his shoulder and she ran her hand down the back of his neck.

"Cupcake, you keep doing that, we're not going to make it through this dance."

She didn't stop.

"Just keep dancing with me, Handsome. We got all the time in the world."
