'And who are you,' the proud Lord said,

'That I must bow so low?

Only a cat of a different coat,

That's all the truth I know.

In a coat of gold or a coat of red,

A lion still has claws,

And mine are long and sharp, my Lord,

As long and sharp as yours.'

And so he spoke, and so he spoke,

That lord of Castamere,

But now the rains weep o'er his hall

With no-one there to hear.

Yes, now the rains weep o'er his hall

With not a soul to hear.

'And who are you,' the young wolf said,

'That I must bend the knee?'

They put a crown upon his head,

Beneath the weirwood tree.

'A lion rules the summer day,

A wolf the winter night.

You hold no power over me;

The North is mine by right.'

And so he spoke, and so he spoke,

That wolf of Winterfell,

But now the wolves howl round his hall

With no-one there to tell.

Yes, now the wolves howl round his hall

With not a soul to tell.

They laughed at us, the proud Reynes.

We killed them in their beds.

The Starks of Winterfell rebelled.

They paid us with their heads.

We taught our foes a lesson that

They never will forget:

A Lannister puts family first,

And always pays his debts.

Take from us, then, a warning, felt

By those who went before.

Invoke the wrath of Lannister,

And you will hear us roar.

Invoke the wrath of Lannister,

And you will hear us roar!

*Sniffs*

*Blows nose.*

*Takes deep breath*

So, a poem this time, and a non-LotR one at that! A tribute to the best known song and evilest family in Westeros, the saddest scene in modern fantasy, and the worst wedding reception ever. And I mean ever. Let me know if I did the original justice please.

Edit: Wow, so it's been barely a week, and I'm already getting so many reviews and likes on this fic. Thanks everyone for all your feedback and support, it's great! Several of you have said you can hear the tune in your head as you read it - that's perfect. Keep up the motivation, and maybe I'll keep up writing. Maybe I'll have to enlarge my door to fit my head through. We shall see.

Heh, I just like publicity.

Unfortunately, your new favourite song (if I may call it that) is already outdated:

I just got the new World of Ice and Fire book. Spoiler alert (if a reference book can have spoilers) but apparently the Reynes (yes it's an e not an a, I've corrected that) were trapped in a cave and drowned, so not really in their beds after all (although the cave was part of their hall, so think of it as the Lannisters' artistic license in order to make themselves seem more ruthless).

Disclaimer: The first verse and chorus are obviously the originals written by George R.R. Martin, and are used to add context to the song. The rest, although written by me, follows the same schema and word pattern. I own no names or places mentioned in the song.
