"Hello, Ponds," the young man says mournfully, seating himself on the edge of the gravestone. He traces the two names engraved on the marble with his fingers, slowly, reverently, before reaching into his pocket and withdrawing a single seed.

The first thing that would come to your mind if you were watching would be the fact that the seed was larger than average, with a golden spiral patten circling the center of it. The young man fingers the seed for a moment, and bends down to dig a small hole in the ground. Just the right size for the seed. But he doesn't put it in.

"You know," he says out loud, still twisting the seed in his hand. "This seed is from Nulgxd VI. They say it grows forever." He gives a short, barking laugh. "Not so sure about that. Forever is a long time."

He pauses for a moment.

And it all comes spilling out. Stories, anecdotes, short tales of planets he's visited. He talks for nearly an hour, finishing by burying the seed in the ground. He covers it with soil, and pats it for good measure.

The young man stands. He stares at the stone.

"Miss you, Ponds," he says quietly.

A single tear rolls down his cheek, and to the soil where the seed lies.

As he turns to leave, the tree blooms.
