Whelp, it's time to change that!

Welcome back to the story guys! You're probably wondering why it took so long for this story to update. I'm still figuring out that answer myself. Wonder if people will even still want me to continue this story?

Well let's see what's in store for our Cardcaptor Wendy today!

Double Edged Sword, Wendy and the Mysterious Brooch

Previously on Cardcaptor Wendy...

"In any case, collecting Fiore Cards is impossible considering your measly powers." He cast one more disdainful eye over her colorful costume, then turned and stalked away. He passed Chelia without saying a word, and she skirted nervously around him before running up to her friend.

"Wendy, are you hurt anywhere?"

There was no reply. Wendy had another captured Card in her hand, another success, but for some reason she wasn't feeling so good about it this night. The staff dangled from her hand as she stared listlessly at the pavement.

Everything is different, She thought. He's changed it all.

"Wendy?" Chelia said, waving her hand in front of her face.

It will never be the same again.

The next morning was lively as students from Magnolia Middle School were walking and chatting on their way to school. Chelia, who found Wendy, calls her and runs up the stairs to catch up with her.

"Wait up, Wendy! Remember me, your best friend?"

Wendy blinked, not seeing her best friend as she slowed down her pace. "Oh, sorry, Chelia. I didn't see you coming."

Chelia have her a worried look. "I've been trying to catch up to you. You look like the wheels just fell off your in-line skates."

Wendy waved her hands in front of her face. "Oh, no, I'm OK, really!"

Chelia wasn't convinced. "You should be feeling great 'cause of your Card capture last night."

"Yeah, well..." Wendy recalled the night before and the events on the capture of Laxus, the Thunder Card.

Romeo looked at Laxus with a determined look on his face as he started to charge his own magic. "Fiore, know my plight. Release the light"

He used his magic to shoot Laxus down on the roof of School. Wendy ran near him, getting her card ready for combat.

Romeo scowled at Wendy, getting irritated by the way she was trying to strategize. "Boy, you are hopeless"

"Back off. The Windy Card'll take care of this!" Wendy said, swinging her staff to prepare herself for the merging of her powers.

"Put it away. Windy can't stand up against Thunder." Romeo gets ready to blow Laxus with his magic. "Let me show you how it's done Cardcaptor. Lightning!"

"But then you went ahead and captured the Thunder Card with your Shadow Card and proved to Romeo Conbalt that you deserve to be a Cardcaptor!" Chelia encouraged, setting up her camcorder for that day. "So cheer up Wendy!"

Wendy gazed over the balcony they were standing on and sighed. "I really want to be good at this, but it's all so new to me."

Wendy shifts into another flashback mode, remembering just back when she is taking up the Thunder Card she had sealed.

"Boy, it's like I said. You really don't have a clue about this, do you?" Romeo chastised Wendy, making the girl look away sadly.

"I was appointed by Mavis herself and I chose Wendy for this job." Happy defended her, making the guardian beast growl at the arrogant boy.

"A lot of good that did." He shot back, leaving the two more frustrated as he left.

The memory of the night before gets Wendy down in depression.

"Don't you see, Chelia? If Romeo hadn't shown up when he did, I could have been in big trouble." Wendy messed with her fingers as Chelia watched her sadly. "Who am I even fooling? Am I really up to this Cardcaptor gig?"

As the girls were walking to their classroom, they ran into another one of their classmates, Laki Olietta. She was a slim girl with purple hair in a bowl cut with a red bow, pale skin, and large oval glasses on her face. The girl walked besides the two with a smile on her face.

"Hi, Chelia!" Laki said, hugging the girl on the arm.

"Morning, Laki." Chelia smiled at the other girl.

"Hey, how are you doing, Wendy?"The bespectacled girl asked as they got to their seats.

Wendy gave her version of a weak smile. "Oh, I'm all right."

Laki gave her a confused glance. "What's that about?"

No sooner had Wendy taken her seat, Romeo came into the classroom. He walked to his seat silently, while Wendy was getting nervous.

"Oh!Uh, look, Romeo..." Wendy fidgeted in her seat a bit. "Last night, thank you... for your help"

"Huh?" Romeo got up from his desk and huffed a bit.

Wendy sighed. "I mean, I appreciate you being there, but I won't need your help next time."

"It's like I said. You don't have a clue." Romeo snapped, glaring at her. "You're no Cardcaptor."

"What?!" Wendy gets puzzled at Romeo's response the way she has not ever expected, when he sits down on his seat. She tried to cheer herself up, but was satisfied by just writing in her notebook.

"Well, then maybe you can tell me why I was chosen to open the Clow Book if I'm not a Cardcaptor." She says as she doodles in her book, eliciting a reaction from Romeo. "I mean, it's not like I've been studying this my whole life, like some people. And I know I don't have robes."

"Hmm?!" Romeo jumped onto his feet once more and glared down at Wendy. "Those are the Conbalt family's ceremonial robes. You have no right to talk about them."

Wendy held up her hands in defense. "Hey, take it easy, Romeo. Come on."

"Don't mess with things you don't understand, Wendy." Romeo held his glare at Wendy, causing tension to sprout between them.

Before it could get anymore hostile, Chelia bumped into their conversation with a small smile on her face.

"Say Romeo, last night was a pretty cool battle you just did. I was wondering if you'd like me to record you too since you'll be working together with Wendy from now on." This caused the two of them to blush, Romeo more profusely than Wendy.

"Tch...whatever! Just don't bother me anymore!" He said, going up to the blackboard to help clean it up.

Wendy gave Chelia a thanking face before going back to doodle in her book. Wonder what caused him to lash out like that? I hope I didn't hurt his feelings too hard.

"What a lovely brooch!"

"I heard they just brought this one in!"

"It looks just like a ruby, no a garnet!"

At a jewelry shop downtown, a crowd of people surrounded the new brooches that had just been dropped off for the season. Decorative ones with emeralds and sapphires sparkled brightly in the spring sun while one stood out in particular. It was a deep red gem in the middle of a shield with two swords sticking out from behind the shield. Everyone gawked at the strange brooch, wanting to buy it off the shelf.

The gem, however, held an even bigger surprise. A spirit resided within the red gem, eyes closed and waiting to be released. It was a woman with long red hair wearing a long white dress covered with silver armor on her arms and legs.

Yes, this was one of the lost cards of Fiore, the Sword.
