Chapter 4: Resemblence

"I'm sorry for bumping into you. You're sure you're alright?"

Celia smiled at the woman's concern. Chikage was definitely a mother hen, even if she left Kaito alone a lot.

"100% okay." Celia reassured. "You don't have anything to worry about. I didn't fall or bump into anything. If anything I should be asking if you're okay! You stumbled too…"

Chikage smiled at the younger girl. "Oh don't worry about me. I just tripped on my heels, I'm still not used to them since they're new."

Lies. Phantom thieves aren't uncoordinated. Celia knew this. That meant Chikage did it on purpose, but why?

Celia's musings were cut off when she saw that her order was on the counter of the café. She quickly excused herself from Chikage and made to grab them.

-:-

Chikage leaned against a tabletop and looked at the girl around her son's age that she had purposefully bumped into.

"Mom? Why did you want to meet up here?"

Chikage turned her attention to her son, and pulled him down next to her.

"Wha-" Kaito let out a surprised sound at his mother's force and sloppily fell against the table. Chikage's hand turned Kaito's face so that it followed her line of sight. Right towards Celia.

"Do you see her?" Chikage asked.

"You mean the girl getting coffee? What's so special about that?"

"She looks so familiar! I'm positive I've seen her somewhere before. Where have I seen her before?!"

Kaito deadpanned at his mother's question.

"Why are you asking me?"

-:-

Once Celia had finished prepping her and Akako's coffee she turned back to Chikage to say goodbye.

Celia jumped a little once she realized that Chikage was staring intently at her. Somehow Kaito had even shown up without her noticing and had mirrored her wide-eyed look.

Celia coughed and walked over to Chikage unsurely.

"Umm, it was nice meeting you but I should get this over to my friend before she kills me. It seems she really needs the boost this morning."

Chikage's stare turned into a friendly smile. "Oh it's no problem. It was nice meeting you…"

"Oh! Celia. Celia Kurosawa."

"Celia-chan then?" Chikage paused and then murmured the next part. "Kurosawa sounds familiar…"

Celia smiled uncertainly and nodded at the Kurobas before exiting the café. Kaito's eyes followed her on her way out.

-:-

"Hey, wait!"

Celia stopped walking and turned, only to see Kaito running towards her. Unsurprisingly, he managed to avoid bumping into the pedestrians on the sidewalk effortlessly.

Once he caught up with the shorter girl. He looked away nervously and ran a hand through his hair.

Oh god. She swore she could hear Misty Mystery start playing.

"I'm sorry about my mom. She can be kind of weird sometimes."

Celia laughed a little, and smiled up at Kaito.

"Don't worry about it. I said it was nice meeting her. I meant that."

"You're sure?"

"Yeah."

Kaito had his half-smile/half-smirk on and Celia could swear that she would burst out laughing at any moment. This was entirely too awkward in her mind, though she managed to smile up at the phantom thief naturally.

All of a sudden, a rose took over her vision.

"Kaito Kuroba."

Celia quirked an eyebrow.

"That was too smooth." Celia gently took the rose from Kaito's hand and lowered it from her eyes. "And I'm afraid you're a little too early for this to work."

"You wound me." Kaito playfully raised a hand over his heart and acted as if it had been stabbed.

Celia rolled her eyes at this as she slowly took a few steps backward.

"Celia Kurosawa. See you later, Kuroba-kun."

And with that, she turned around and continued walking away.

-:-

"Kaito! I finally remembered why she was familiar!"

"Mom? Where did you come from?"

"I knew a thief named Shannon Kurosawa! She had a niece named Celia!"

"…What?"

-:-

"Akako! I got your caffeine!"

Celia shouted as soon as she made her way into Akako's home. A grumble from a few rooms away was her response.

Quietly laughing, Celia made her way to the dining room where Akako was sitting at the table. The witch had her laptop front of her and tons of pieces of paper scattered around the area where her upper half was sprawled on the table.

Celia carefully placed the coffee in front of Akako and took a seat next to her.

"Find anything?"

Akako grumbled and grabbed her coffee cup. She left the room, nearly tripping on the long, fleece pajama pants she was wearing, and appeared five minutes later as her regular self.

Celia took in her appearance. Somehow in the span of five minutes, Akako had managed to wake up, change clothes, and drink her entire coffee. She was impressed.

Akako, now wearing a black dress and gray varsity jacket, ignored Celia's shocked expression and made her way back to her seat.

"Close your mouth, dear. I did find something." Akako opened a tab on her laptop and showed Celia that it was a news article.

"Apparently, Kaitou KID is stealing a sculpture called The Blue Wonder soon. Your aunt stole the very same statue while she was a thief. I didn't want to bother with decoding the message he left, so I just called him directly."

"Oh, joy."

Sarcasm was always Celia's friend.

Days where she had to steal a gem with little to no training where not.

And so the fourth chapter is finally out.

I know it's been forever, but I'm going to try and update this fic a lot more. Feel free to shoot me a message too if you think I'm taking too long to update.

In this chapter, I went over Celia deciding to become a thief. She'll eventually get that detective career in there too, but not until after her first heist.

Misty Mystery is one of the songs from Magic Kaito by the way. It basically plays whenever he's being suave and at the beginning of certain episodes. I feel like it's Kaito's character song in a way.

Reviews are love

p.s. The next chapter will include the heist!
