Summoned to Middle Earth
Lady Countryrose
Epilogue
Years had passed since the battle; life has grown throughout the lands, even the city of Dal was thriving. As for those in the Lonely Mountain; life had come back, Dwarves traveled far and wide to make it back to Erebor. Where they were to witness Thorin Oakenshields new life with his family.
It has been nearly twenty years since the war; along with the two eldest children, who were nineteen. Mackal and Grace; grew up knowing how to fight with the sword, axe, and magic. Hermione had also given Thorin three more sons; a set of twins, Fili and Kili, after Thorin's nephews who had died in the war. They were seventeen. Along with a fifteen year old; who Hermione had named Severus, after the man who had saved her husband's life.
Speaking of Severus Snape; he lives ten years of his life after the war in Rivendell, where he studied the ways of Elves. Where he had took his last breath before leaving the world behind him.
Thorin was in the throne room with his eldest son Mackal; who he was teaching him how to be king, "As a King son; you must listen to your people and be a great person through their help."
Mackal asked, "Does this have anything to do with Uncle Bilbo; the one who did things through being a moral person, like how mom likes to teach us?"
Thorin sighed, "That may be true."
"Dad; what is the big deal? Why are you trying to teach me to be a king?"
"Time is nearly up for me, son. I became a king nearly a hundred years old; it is nearly time for me to call it quits and allow you to take over for me, I have enough white hair to tell that I'm no longer young enough to stay upon the throne."
"Is it because of mother," asked Mackal.
Thorin leaned back into his throne; with his eyes closed, he nearly forgot that he had lost his wife; just a year ago.
"She was the one; who would rule beside me, and be the queen of all the people. She cared about others before herself; she was a warrior, knowledge seeker, and a tender-hearted woman. I hope that one day that you; too, will find such a queen for your people."
At that moment Grace came walking in; along with Fili, Kili, and Severus running after her. Thorin glanced at his daughter and noticed how much she was starting to look like her mother.
"FATHER," yelled Grace. "They will not leave me alone!"
Thorin chuckled, "Sorry girl, but you are going to have to deal with it. I am not going to be around to save you from your own brothers; it will soon be Mackal's job, and I believe he will do anything to keep you safe from your other brothers."
Mackal sighed, "What have you done now?"
The three younger boys glanced at one another and said at once, "We miss mom teaching us magic and wanted Grace to teach us."
The elder brother then looked at his twin sister; with a raised eyebrow asked, "Why won't you?"
"Because I'm not that good at it; not like you and mom. I just want to read books!"
Thorin had started coughing; it was getting worse with age, no one knew if it was because of his broken heart from losing his wife or the time of war had aged him even more than what Dwarves have gone through. "You are so much like your mother," he had glanced at Grace, "but you don't give yourself enough credit. You can do anything that you put your whole heart and soul into. You're a great archer."
The young woman glared at her father, "Thanks, dad; I wouldn't have to learn that if I was a normal girl."
Severus spoke up, "Come on sister; you're going to need that to win over a good man," this caused many within the room to laugh; even though Grace was hiding a small smile from her brother's joke.
Thorin sighed, "Alright kids; I should head for my bedroom, I've grown quite tired."
So the aged king got upon his feet and made his way towards his bedroom; where he lay upon his bed, closing his eyes and wished for his wife.
After a while of sleeping; a female voice that Thorin had not heard a long while, "Thorin, it's time to get up sleepy head."
Thorin woke up and found himself the age that he had met his beautiful wife; he walked towards her and wrapped his thick arms around Hermione's waist and purred, "It's been a long time, witch."
She smiled, "It's time for us to go, my Warrior King."
With a sad glanced around him; he knew that he was not sleeping, he was really with his wife again. "Where do we go from here?"
"As what I was told from years ago; on to our next great adventure," she spoke with tears within her eyes.
"What about our children," asked Thorin.
Hermione spoke with such love, "They will have their own adventures; we have done all that we can, we have prepared them for all the challenges in life has yet to offer."
Together they walked into the light; holding each others hands, something that they have missed for a year.
THE END
AN: It was fun writing this story, but sadly; all great things must end.
