"What will you do now?" Well that was the million rupee question, now, wasn't it?

After six months of his life spent fighting not only for his life, but for the life of the woman (and goddess, both literal and in beauty) he loved, Link was momentarily off put by the question Zelda had posed.

He'd been somewhat surprised about her decision to stay on the surface. Did she know what it was actually like? From what he knew about her own adventures remembering a life she had and hadn't lived, all to help contain quite literally the father of all evil until Link was both strong enough and capable of wielding the Blade of Evil's Bane, she had had quite an easy time, the Sheikah tribe member Impa rescuing and protecting her the whole way through.

Link was a man of few words; usually he'd avoid talking for as long as possible, letting his face answer when required. After all he'd gone through, and at the implication behind Zelda's words, though, this was one of the few times he'd make an exception.

"Well, Zelda, someone has to look after you, right?"

That earned him a playful glare.

"In all seriousness, though. After going through so much to save you, and the world in the process, I would hope you are fairly aware of my intentions regarding you. I don't plan on leaving your side again. Ever again, if you'd let me." This he said with his trademark lopsided smirk.

This, however, earned him a teary-eyed lifetime best friend. "Oh? Is that an offer by my lovely Knight in not-so-shining armor?" said Zelda, two tears running down her perfect cheeks.

"A proposal, more like. I'm not entirely sure when I figured it out. For all I know it was while I was surrounded by molten rock, dodging a charging, flaming monster; for sure it was before the monstrous insect in the sands. If I had any doubts, then they were erased when I put myself between a Demon Lord and an ill-fated Gate of Time. I could go on, but the point is the same. I love you Zelda. So much that I threw myself into the unknown without a second thought. And I ask that you throw yourself too, into something far more dangerous. A life together, beyond even the time when Din, Nayru and Farore call us to their Golden Realm. What say you, milady? I have no sword to offer anymore, but I'm sure that can be fixed with a quick trip back to Skyloft." He said, a hint of sadness for his lost companion lacing his happy tone.

Zelda flashed a cryptic smile – "Well, a new life is beginning for us, Sleepyhead. Getting you a blade worthy of your new status as my partner and protector for life shouldn't be a problem, provided we have a little patience in announcing our engagement to the masses!"

The sunset was received with what would be one of the first of many kisses between a goddess turned mortal, and a hero, both in spirit and in action.
