I Swear
Kya looked at Mako, who held the cell door open. Mako sighed. "Please Kya. I've heard your story and I'm on your side but right now you have to get into this cell. I could get fired." Kya pursed her lips as she walked into the cell. Mako closed it behind her, locking it. Before he left, Kya grabbed onto his sleeve.
"You better tell Lin to get me out of here, or so help me…"
"Got it. I'll go get her," Mako said as he hurried away. Kya groaned as she sat down on the bed, leaning against the wall. Something about Mako made her feel more uncomfortable. She couldn't believe she was in this place.
The walls were bare and grey in color. Kya wrapped her arms around herself, realizing that it was quite cold. She lightly tapped her foot as she mumbled to herself, hoping Lin would hurry. She didn't like being behind bars, especially because she didn't deserve being here…
Kya stood up hearing footsteps coming down the hall. She placed her hands around the bars, slumping as she seen the expression on Lin's face. She was smiling, and not her usual half smile. She was grinning from ear to ear as she stopped in front of Kya.
"Well, well, well," Lin said cheerfully as she looked at her lover behind bars. "You know when you said you'd be at a protest; I didn't at all imagine that you'd get yourself in trouble."
"It was a peaceful protest."
"Until you punched a man in the face..." said Lin.
"He deserved it," Kya insisted.
"Oh, did he?"
"You can ask anyone that was there!" Kya said loudly. Lin pressed her lips to keep from laughing at her lover. Kya on the other hand, didn't think this was funny at all.
"Lin, I swear if…"
"Threatening the Chief of Police? Oh that's smart."
"Lin…"
"You look cute in a jail cell." A devious smile spread across the earthbender's face. Kya couldn't believe Lin was acting like this. She was behind bars! She thought Lin, of all people would want to help her get out of here. Not take away her freedom…
"Lin…" Kya warned.
"This actually reminds me of that dream I had," Lin's eyes lit up, but Kya's turned dark.
Kya pulled Lin against the bars. Looking at her straight in the eye. Lin only smirked as she looked at the waterbender. Lin knew well enough that no matter how angry Kya was at her, she'd never cause her any harm and vice versa.
"Lin, if you don't get me out of here I'll move back to the Southern Water Tribe."
"How can you leave if you're in a jail cell?" Kya narrowed her eyes at Lin. If looks could kill… Lin smiled, pecking her nose through the bar. She worked herself out of Kya's grasp. The waterbender huffed as she grabbed the bars again, looking at Lin with a sorrowful expression.
"You'll be free to go as soon as they get your statement," Lin said as she tugged at her collar. Kya straightened up, looking at Lin in confusion.
"Wait, if I'm only here for a statement then why am I in this cell?"
"Because I told Mako to put you here." Lin looked up at her, giving her a toothy grin.
"What?" Kya couldn't believe it. There was no way that Lin would do this…
"Look at the time! I really should go."
"Lin!" Kya shouted as she watched Lin step away.
"Sorry, but I have paperwork to finish." Kya could hear the laughter in her voice. She squeezed her hands around the bar, turning her knuckles white out of anger.
"Lin! I swear! When I get out of here I will end you!"
