Wish Upon a Star

Summary: Lestrade misses Holmes and thinks of all the cases they worked on together while waiting for his to come back. She also thinks of how he left before she could tell him how she felt. Holmes/Lestrade. The song is Wish Upon a Star if you want to listen to it while reading this fic.

I don't own anything.

Lestrade entered 221B Baker Street with a sigh. It had been three months since Holmes had left for America to solve a bunch of linked cases that had Moriarty written all over them and she's been coming here every day since. She'd wanted to go too but Greyson said that she was needed here. She hadn't heard from Holmes since. She'd expected that, after all, the intertwined cases were very dangerous and for Holmes to contact anyone, well, it could blow his cover; Watson had already been damaged and had been returned to the Yard for repairs which indicated just how dangerous it was. She just missed him so much.

She remembered how she'd welcomed him when he'd woken after being brought back to life. She'd been overjoyed, her childhood idol was alive. It was a dream come true and she'd been surprised when he'd actually flirted with her, 'You brought me back for more than just my good looks and sparkling wit.' She recalled how he'd tried to push her out of harm's way when the robot had fired at her. Even then, though he barely knew her, he'd cared.

Lestrade sighed again and remembered a song from the old days. It certainly seemed to fit the current situation. She started singing, it was a hidden talent of hers.

She recalled how she'd been under the influence of the nanobots and how Holmes, each time, had tried to reason with her, he'd never lifted a finger against her, not even to defend himself. He was a true gentleman and the soft look on his face afterwards, when she was back to normal and in the hospital, it was something you didn't see every day.

She remembered more and more, such as when he'd included her in his 'my dears' comment and when he'd called her 'dear Lestrade'. He'd trusted her enough to play the decoy in the Dancing Men case. His worried face and voice when he was searching for her during the Musgrave case, it was something she would remember forever. She remembered many more things, like when he'd called her Beth, even though he'd been talking to Watson at the time and then her song came to an end.

Yeah, she'd fallen in love with him, fallen hard and looking up at the night sky she wished that he would come back home, safe and sound and she wished upon the brightest star that she could tell him, that... she loved him.

"I didn't know that I would find you here Lestrade or that you had such a beautiful singing voice," said a well known voice from behind her and she whirled around to see Sherlock Holmes standing behind her with a gentle look on his face.

"Holmes!" she cried in shock, surprise and delight. He back, he was here, he was safe, just like her wish and she hadn't expected it to come true so soon though.

"You are not the only one who apparently made a wish upon a star Lestrade," said Holmes, walking towards her until her was standing right in front of her.

"What did you wish for?" she asked.

"Just this," and with a blush on his cheeks he gently tilted her head up towards his and kissed her. After a single second of surprise she kissed him back. It seemed to last forever yet it was just a few seconds. It was soon over and she leaned against his chest, his arms circling her waist. "Lestrade…Beth…I love you," said Holmes.

Lestrade looked up at him and smiled, "I love you too Sherlock," and was gifted with a smiled from Holmes and pulled in for another kiss. Wishes really did come true.
