We obeyed her orders and went to the back of the tent. it lead into a large room made completely of gold encrusted jewelry and furniture, probably adding up to over a couple of billions worth of treasure. the woman had taken off her jacket to reveal a slim black blouse and a pair of dark blue, almost black tight jeans. She sat on a velvet couch with a wooden frame and golden buttons along the edge. she motioned us to sit on a couch that looked the exact same that was across from her. Fearing her power, we all obeyed and sat down. She took a sip of a dark liquid that was in a chalice. She then opened her mouth to speak.
"Now what did you do this time, Perseus Jackson?" She said, adding a snarl to the ending of my name. She was obviously not a fan. There was an awkward silence in the air for a good 5 seconds before Annabeth finally broke the silence.
"How do you know Percy's name?"
"What doesn't know Percy, the gossip of the underworld, the man who killed the titan Cronus, savior of mankind this century. So, you've come to come to my private sanctum, presumably to ask a favor, so obviously you destroyed something big again. So I will ask again, what have you destroyed this time?"
We once again sat in a silent confusion. How did she know all this? I looked at Annabeth and saw her just staring at her. The other two just sat there, confused probably on what was going on. After a moment of silence, I spoke up and told her the story. the moment I spoke the words "The other world disappeared", she contorted her face into a monstrous look of resentment. I tried explaining that it wasn't my fault, but she wouldn't listen.
"so could you get us in contact with Chaos? We need to talk to him." I asked
"I could, I don't see why I should. His universe dying has nothing to do with me. I am not the 'anchor' or whatever, that is just a fairy tail made up by his stupid grandchildren. The reality of it is he left, gone, traveled to create another dimension. I am sure he has thousands. The thing is though, I just so happen to know a teleportation spell that might do the trick. Now, what will I get in return?"
"what do you want?" Annabeth shot out.
"Thank you for asking, I would like a sacrifice. There is an old bird not far from here. He lives in my shield, so don't worry about monsters or other people. Once you find this bird, you will have sprinkle this liquid on it. It wont kill it, but instead let me absorb its power. There may be something guarding it, I am not sure."
Inuyasha, who had surprisingly sitting there quietly, spoke up. "Umm, why do care so much about the bird. If its old, doesn't that mean it is about to die?"
"Who the hell are you, exactly? you have a strange power to you, but not quite that of a demigod. meanwhile, that girl you brought with you over there is mortal." The witch spoke harshly.
"I am Inuyasha, and this is my friend kagome. I am a half-dog demon, and she is an ancestor of a powerful woman."
"Kagome might have some power is your world, but here, she is a mortal. And you are not just a 'demon', your magic would have disappeared the minute your world got destroyed. But you obviously don't know anything, so I will carry on..."
"Wait, what do you mean I am not a demon?" Inuyasha said, almost concerned.
"I never said you weren't a demon, you just a little of something else, anyway. Go after the bird, I will have a boat ready for you by morning, and the reason for my endeavors is none of your business." Glaring at Inuyasha. "Do this and you will have your precious conference with the lord. Until then, stay in here. there are pillows and blankets in there." she explained, pointing to a mahogany shelf with gold rimming and Rose gold handles.
she walked out the door and closed it hard. Outside it, you could here her whispering something. as soon as she left, Inuyasha tried to open the door. The second he touched the knob, he was shoked and fell on the floor.
"What the hell was that?" He yelled, obviously furious.
kagome dragged him to a bed and calmed him down, and me and Annabeth went over to the couch.
"She must have trapped us in here, figures, damn witch. Why do you think she wants us to go sprinkle the bird, cant she get someone else to do it?" I asked, mostly angry our vacation got interrupted and now we have to go on this damn mission.
"Well she can't leave because of the curse, and you heard about the monster, her people would die, or loose course. It would be too risky. And as far as why, she wants more power. she said the powder lets her steal powers. why she wants more power, that's a question for the ages."
"I guess. So what did your mother give you?
She took out the small wooden box and opened it. Inside was a Silver looking button and a note. Annabeth took out the button and gently pressed down on it, revealing a full shield and sword made of celestial bronze and imperial gold. She looked in disbelief and stood up.
"Percy, This is one of my mothers sacred weapons! Why would she give me this?" She pushed the middle of the shield and it turned back to a silver button. She clipped it on to her jeans and started reading the note.
"Dear Annabeth,
Please take care, Chaos is said to be a dangerous man full of resentment. He will most likely want to fight or have some resolve. No matter the cost, keep this from happening. If there is no other choice, I bestow upon you this, one of my sacred tools.
With much love, Athena."
"Well that sounds like fun. Lets hope he is not in a fighting mood when we meet him." I said, having the slightest bit of nervousness in my voice.
