Title from "Mind and Heart" by Charles Bukowski.

In another life, she had held his hand as he slipped away. There is none of that comfort for her.

Maybe such luxuries cannot be afforded, it would be a dangerous waste to sit a man off the battlefield just to hold the hand of a dying girl, after all. With Obito at Kakashi's side, it's a safer bet the two of them will make it out unmolested any further. But she knows that Kakashi would be able to carve a safe path back into Konoha territory without Obito's steady eyes at his back. He'd done it before with only the company of a single eye and her sharp hands.

It isn't as if she asked them to stay, so maybe she's being unjustly bitter, but she just doesn't want to die alone. In the face of this reality, that dream seems unrealistic.

I know it's short, I know it's vague. Too bad.
