Ivy Chapter 53

Sorry about the long wait. I've had a lot of problems come up from internet issues, to a terminally ill father, to wife of said father kicking him out, to rude messages. It's been a rough year, like really rough. But I'm still determined to finish this story. I hate unfinished projects.

So to anybody still reading this.

I hope you enjoy it.

I hope it makes your day a little better

and any good vibes, prayers, or thoughts to my family are appreciated.

I Don't Own Inuyasha or Any Other Random Thing I Might Reference

It was hours later by the time Kouga and Inuyasha got back to them. They got there just in time and after a long battle led by a surprisingly good team of Inuyasha and Kouga they won. They drove back the attack with few casualties. They would be staying there a few days to take care of honoring the fallen and taking care of the wounded.

You could feel the relief in the air. Like a cloud of dread had lifted from those in the house. Lily felt a little sad about not getting to see them in person but understood. They have responsibilities, not to mention how late it was. Everyone seemed almost near passing out. Or so she thought until she hear a commotion downstairs.

She met Kagome near the top of the stairs. She had been woken for the news from the boys and had heard the noise as well.

Rooster, Dj, and Spike were packing up their things. Well as much packing as Spike could do considering. He seemed to just have a stuffed toy in his mouth.

"Are you sure you won't stay the night? There's no rush and after that fight I'm sure everyone could use the rest." Touga said following Rooster.

"Naw, I got things to do back home. Things won't run themselves for long and money don't make itself." He said with a grin. Noticing the girls he called up to Lily.

"Pack your stuff Lily we're heading out." Rooster ordered. The girl's eyes widened, as did Touga's who immediately jumped in.

" Now wait a second Rooster. I'm not just gonna let you walk out with my daughter and whisk her who knows where." Touga said

"I came here for Lily in the first place remember? I put it off because of a threat. The threat is gone now and she is a Lotus. I'll fight for my people." Rooster said turning towards Touga. He wasn't joking this time.

"Now calm down. There is no need for this to turn into a fight. Can't we work this out? How about month to month and alternate holidays." Touga said with a smile.

Lily was shocked. This was a joke right? He was talking about her like she was a child in a divorce. She looked at Rooster hoping for some kind of common sense.

Rooster stared at Touga's puppy dog eyes act, he seemed deep in thought.

"Dibs on Christmas."

*que duel face palms from Lily and Kagome.*

"Excuse me!" Lily interrupted mid discussion on who gets what holidays.

They both paused looking up at her.

"Don't I get a say in where I am!?" Lily asked turning a little red.

The two turned to each other as if discussing it before she got a simultaneous.

"No."

Lily having het fill left to her room. Kagome called them both bakas and left to follow her friend.

Touga looked at Rooster confused. "What was that about?"

Roosters only answer was a shrug.

-Lily's room-

Kagome watched as Lily paced angry and deep in thought. She'd never seen her this agitated. Couldn't blame her though. They were treating her like an object to be traded back and forth.

"Want to talk about it? It helps sometimes." Kagome said trying to comfort her friend.

" I can't believe after all this. All the things we've been through. That they still are doing this. I thought I had shown them that I'm an adult that I can fight my own battles. That I've learned when to ask for help but that I don't need a 24/7 babysitter." Lily ranted as she paced.

"What can I say to get this threw those thick skulls of theirs?" Lily said finally stopping and looking at Kagome.

"Well in my experience these guys usually don't believe something until they see it. They can be kind of hard headed." Kagome answered with a sigh.

Lily seemed down for a moment until her face lit up. "That's it! I'll show them I can take care of myself! That I won't be traded back and forth!" Lily exclaimed as she began to dash to and fro gathering things and throwing them in a bag.

"Wait what? What are you going to do?" Kagome asked worriedly as she watched.

"I'm leaving. I've taken care of myself this long and I can now. If they won't treat me with respect then I'll show them that I won't take it. Until they change their minds I'll leave. It won't be the first time I've gone underground." Lily said with a laugh and mischievous smile in Kagome's direction.

'Sometimes I forget that Lily did some not so legal things in her past.' Kagome thought with a sweat drop.

Kagome stood up and took Lily by the shoulders. "Please be careful Lily. Even with that man gone there are still other bad people out there you know."

Lily smiled and pulled her into a hug. The first that she had given to someone voluntarily in a very long time. "I know Kagome. I'll be careful. Thank you. Really, you are my best friend. Ill keep in touch. I promise. Hopefully this won't take long for them to understand and things will get back to a more normal setup."

"I better go then." Kagome said with a slight frown of worry. "I'll buy you a little time. Good luck."

"Thank you again." Lily said before going back to her frantic packing.

Kagome shook her head as she walked out the door, closing it behind her.

'I hope this works.'

She walked back over to the stairs to see Touga watching out the window. She felt a little bit of that old anger boil up. This was happening because two bull headed people couldn't see that Lily was an adult. She understood that they just cared in their own way but they were handling it wrong. You can't put a human being in a box and expect them to be happy and stay there.

"So what's the verdict?" Kagome asked annoyance clearly in her voice.

Touga turned to her with that smile she loved, oblivious to her anger. "Rooster just left. I get this month and he gets next month. He got Christmas though." Touga ended with a pout.

It quickly switched to a daydreamy smile as he continued. "But I get Halloween! I'm going to buy us matching father daughter costumes! Oh I know I'll be a king and you can be my queen and she can be a little princess!" He began to spin as he daydreamed. She could almost see the thought bubble.

He really did see Lily as a child. She felt her anger ebb a little as she watched him, but she knew his delusion would make Lily miserable. No matter how much she loved Touga, and yes she had admitted to herself, she loved the big puppy. But no matter how much she cared, she couldn't let him and Rooster break Lily like that.

"Hate to break up your dream but you really upset Lily back there." Kagome stated crossing her arms. She would stay firm.

He stopped his spin so abruptly he almost fell into the table. After getting his balance back he turned to her. "What do you mean?"

"You told her she had no say in her own life. You told her that her opinion on this didn't matter. In one word you told her that she was basically a child to the two of you." Kagome answered with a flame in her eye.

He let out a laugh not noticing the fine edge of anger he walked. "You both are just overreacting. We are just trying to protect her. We know what's best and to the two of us age wise she is a child." Touga replied as he began to climb the stairs towards her. "I'll talk to her in the morning about her new schedule."

Kagome was flabbergasted. Overreacting? Oh he hadn't seen overreacting yet.

"So just because she is younger she is a child to you? I'm about her age. Am I basically a child to you too?" The fire wasn't just in Kagome's eyes anymore.

Poor Touga didn't notice though. He had yet to experience the Kagome anger experience. "Well kind of yeah. I mean you are a woman but you are not as experienced so I have to take care of the two of you. So I'll decide what's best for everyone." Touga said with a proud smile that melted off his face as he came face to face with a very angry Kagome at the top of the stairs.

"Well mister adult, this child will be in Shippo's room tonight and tomorrow she is going to see her family at the shrine without you." She said as she spun around and marched to Shippo's room and slammed the door.

Touga stood there stunned and in a little pain from the holy energy she had let off in her anger.

"You're an idiot." A monotone voice said from the hallway beside him.

He turned to see Sesshomaru leaning out his doorway in just his boxers.

*Que fangirl screams*

*Que both men pretending they didn't hear them.*

"Woman like them don't like being ordered around. The more you do this the worse it will get. I learned that myself before you came back." He said before going back to his bedroom.

Leaving Touga there confused. Did his sons know something he didn't?
