Okay... So it's been a long time. Has it really been almost half a year? Sheesh... It's getting there. But I'm back...for the time being, and I intend to update as much as I can before I lose my motivation again. Or until I get a lot of homework. but anways, this is the story that I reply to all of your comments, so let's get onto that!
fold my love: I hope that you do intend to review more! I really do want to develop Cecily's character. I just haven't had much time yet, but I assure you, she will be a big part of this story, and a foil to Will, if you know what I mean. She isn't in this chapter as much as I would like, but you never know what will happen in the future chapters!
BooksAreLife12345: Thank you! I live for Jessa. I hope you like this next chapter, and there is a bit more Jessa than Wessa in the following chapters.
sharkmm: YASSSSS JESSA. :) I love Wessa, but Jessa will always have a special place in my heart. Because you know, JEM.
Phantomxk: Yup. I want to make this a story about modern day people, such as people who would actually be in a boarding school, though it's hard because I've never been. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this chapter!
AngelsEnvy: I hope you smiled again! I mean, it's been so long since I've updated... But I think this chapter is a little more dramatic, so I hope you enjoy it!
TessaElsaHerondale: Well... Look who hasn't updated for about five months? *stares at my hands* So... Well... HERE:S THE CHAPTER DON'T HATE MEH. Kidding. Anyways, the evenge won't come into play for a little while. I'm still planning that out. I really want a unique story, that begins on a basic plotline.
The-Final-Hope: I don't really know if you're going to enjoy the ending of this chapter... But rest assured, I can't stand a sad ending... So you can be happy that the ending is happy? And everything will turn out alright.
thedarkwhiteangel: Yup. Though I think, this story will probably have both Wessa and Jessa, being that I'm me and I love the love triangle. Sorry. THE FEELS WILL COME. Not really. But anyway, read this chapter because I wrote it and finally updated! :) :)
MidnightStone1118: Well, whether you like it or not... The drama is coming. :) Sort of. I don't think it's really that major, but there is an underlying element of it. But everything will work out in the end, don't worry.
mezzogal: This chapter creates a bit more plot. I hope you like it. :)
Guest: Oh, I hate mobile too. Especially reading stories on it. And I'm glad you like it!
Bottlecap29(guest): Oh, haha. I didn't abandon... I simply took five months to update.
SilverJem5: I HATE CEREAL TOO. I have no idea, but reading your review made me laugh. Hehe. TIRED HELP ME PLEASE. But I'm finally updating, right? While watching TV and listening to music and eating fried rice for breakfast...
wolfblaze1123: THANK YOU SO MUCH! Omg. You are really too nice. But really. Your review made me smile. :) I hope you don't mind that I took so long to update... But hey, I actually finally updated.
UltimateBookGeek: Yeah, I know. The idea is a bit cliche. Hopefully, however, I am able to put my own spin onto it, and you never know what's going to happen. :)
amythest2000: I'm about split between the two ships, but I'm so glad you like my story! I hope you like this chapter!
TheElvisPreacher: I DO TOO! OMG.
Musical Shadows: Hey! It's you! :) :) :) *waves* Hiiii! There's a little more action that most of the other chapters... And I hope you like it. And, I LOVE YOU MORE THAN THAT! Hehe. And thank you. I've been trying to make my stories a little more thorough, so the future chapters should be a little bit better with that. So i hope you enjoy it!
KatheenSkylar: Yes... Um... Will will be in some more scenes. But that Will be in a couple chapters... Because um. There's a little thing in this chapter that happens... Well um... Yeah. I hope you enjoy it. :)
TessaGraceHerondale: I'm so glad you like this story! I've worked sort of hard these last days on this story, so hopefully you enjoy it.
Sarah(Guest): LOOK I'M UPDATING. AREN'T YOU PROUD OF ME? Just kidding. I really wish I have updated more, but I've been super busy. I hope you enjoy these next chapters!
Decisions
After calling Sophie and Cecily, we've decided to go catch a movie, at an outside theater, then go out to eat at a nearby restaurant. There's five of us, and we decide that Jem will drive, being that he's the oldest, and most experienced with driving. Piling into the car, Will calls shotgun, but then offers me his seat, and he ends up squished between Cecily and Sophie.
"You owe me," he jokes, moving uncomfortably as the girls lean across him, to chat, and I wonder why they didn't just sit next to each other, and have Will sit at the side. It seems like it would have been much easier.
"Can't you just be a gentleman and say that you giving up your seat was an act of kindness, and not something that has to be repaid?" I laugh, seeing him almost get elbowed in the face by Sophie, who offers him an apologetic smile.
"Don't mind him," Jem cut in, and I turn to face him. His eyes are still trained on the road, but he glances over for a split second. "That, or offer to buy him a duck for Christmas."
"Don't you dare!" Will's voice comes from the backseat, tinged with annoyance, and a little bit of anger, though the rest was playful. "Ducks...they're scarier than those dreadful clowns at the circus."
"Don't be such a baby," Cecily teases, poking him in the cheek, and will glares at her, his eyes blue and sharp.
"May I remind you that I am exactly five minutes older than you?" he asked, pushing her hand away from him. "That's got to count for something, right?"
"It really doesn't," Jem laughs, as he enters the freeway, merging into the lane to the left. "It's really nothing."
"Well, to me it's a big deal," Will defends, lowering his eyes and holding up his hands in front of him in a defeated gesture. "It proves that I'm older than you, Cecily. And that's important to me.
"Please. Age is just a number," Cecily grins wickedly, her blue eyes, like Will's, lighting up. "And, are you having fun in the middle seat, on the hump?"
"Delightfully pleasant," Will replied sarcastically, as Jem hit a bump in the road, and his head was nearly smushed against the ceiling. "I've never be better. Except, you know...when I'm not in this car."
"Will, shush," I smile, glancing back at him through the rear view mirror. "We can switch seats on the way back. I'm much more willing to be sitting with Sophie and Cecily than you are, apparently."
That shuts him up, and he playfully scowls, taking out his phone and looking down at it. "No, it's fine. I was kidding..
Shrugging, I try to understand why he would first complain, then when I ask him to switch, decline. I don't understand it, so I just turn back to Jem, who's turning into the parking lot of the movie theater. "What movie do you guys want to see? I'm up for anything."
"If I Stay!" Cecily exclaims, pushing the door open and jumping out, landing on the pavement with a thud. "I've heard it's fantastic!"
"That chick flick?" Will rolls his eyes, as he starts towards the signs on the wall, that show some movies that are currently being shown. "What about 21st Jump Street? I've wanted to see it, but I haven't had time."
"We could take a vote," Jem suggests sweetly, and Sophie glares at him, and I figure that votes don't usually work for them...which would make sense, seeing that there would have been two girls, and two guys before I came along.
"A vote sounds good," Cecily, however, adds, jumping up and down on the balls of her feet. "And we might win this time, seeing how we have Tessa on our side. You're on our side, right Tessa? I mean, don't you want to see If I Stay?"
I've never been the most girliest person around, so I'm stuck, but from what I've heard, from various people, 21st Jump Street is about gangs and stuff, so I'm not super into the idea. "Yeah...I guess If I Stay."
Both of the other girls let out a squeal, and Will frowns, but I get the feeling that he's faking when he perks right up at the mention of snacks from Jem. "I'll get them!" he exclaims, running over to the concessions stand, while motioning for us to go but the tickets at the window.
Jem, getting the message, steps up, purchasing five tickets to see If I Stay, and brings them over to wait for Will. I don't get how he thinks he can eat so much. He orders us each a giant bucket of popcorn, and they must weigh at least at least a pound each...which is a whole heck of a lot of popcorn .
"When does the movie start?" I ask Jem, and he hands me the tickets. Thumbing through them, I notice that it starts in ten minues. "Think we should find our seats?"
He nods, and we enter the theater, after getting the tickets punched. The theater is pretty crowded, and we don't find five seats in a row, but rather three seats, and then two in front of it. Sophie and Cecily claim the two, and I end up between Will and Jem.
"Have you read the book?" Will asks me, turning to face my direction, though it is dark in the theater, and we can't really see each other. "I've heard it's good, but not as good as some of the other books around."
"I've never read it," I admit, leaning towards him so I can speak in a softer voice. "I'm much more into the classics, than modern literature, but The Fault In Our Stars still was an amazing book."
When he replied, his voice is full of curiosity. "Classics? Really? That's quite interesting. Remind me to bring up the subject sometimes later. I would love to discuss it in greater detail, but now isn't the greatest time. We could step outside, perhaps, if you wanted to."
"It's fine. I kind of want to watch the movie," I reply, feeling his shoulder brush against mine on one side, and Jem's on the other. "Though I always feel bad about seeing a movie before the book."
"You sound just like Will," Jem turns to me, and whispers in my ear. "I don't know how often I hear him say that."
"Really?" I ask, glancing over at him. "I didn't know that. He talks about book and movies often?"
"Talks about them?" Jem asked, a hint of incredulousness in his voice. "Tessa, Will could go on and on, day after day about a single book. Don't ask how I haven't gone out of my mind yet, because I have no idea."
I giggle, and lean closer to Jem. "I've got to ask him later."
He nods, then turns his attention back to the screen, and so do I, sitting back in my seat, and settling between the two of them once again.
After the movie, we all stand up and stretch our legs. "Did you guys enjoy the movie?" I ask, glancing over to where our group has migrated into the isle of the seats.
There is a chorus of 'Yes's, and we begin to make our way out of the theater.
As we exit, a car drives past, blaring music, but when one person in the car spots us, it immediately backs up and drives close to the curb.
One girl, a fake blonde sticks her head out, calling to Will. "Will!" she yells, beckoning him over. "Will Herondale!"
He glances back at us, standing behind him, and with a sigh of defeat, makes his way over to the girl. She smiles when she sees him coming, and pulls all the classic flirty girl moves on him. You know, the coy glances, the accidental touching.
Jem bumps me in the shoulder. "He's not too into them, but she's the girlfriend of one of the guys on the football team. He has to keep up a good image around them."
"Then why is she flirting with him?" I ask, "I mean, if she's already in a relationship."
"It's really complicated," he answers, looking down and away a bit. "It used to be an open relationship, but then they broke up and things got all messy and I'm not even really sure what happened because I try to stay out of things like that."
"Oh. Does he like the attention, then?" I ask of Will, feeling just a slightly bit jealous.
"I don't think that he necessarily enjoys it," Jem replies, as a gust of wind blows past and ruffles his hair, "But he puts up with it to keep his reputation. I tell his that he shouldn't have to, but he doesn't seem to listen to me."
Will, meanwhile, was starting away from the car, but then the back window rolled down and a guy in the backseat started talking to him. I am too far to hear what they're saying, but I can tell that Will is getting a little bit angry with them.
Finally, I see him physically give in, and walk back towards the car, giving us an apologetic glance on the way. He slides into the back seat.
And then the car drives away.
"I should have really expected that," Jem sighs, turning to walk in the direction of the restaurant that we had been heading to. "He can't do too much in those situations."
"Where do you think they're going?" I ask, catching up to him as Sophie and Cecily follow behind us.
"Probably to some party," he tells me, glancing over, and I can't help but think that he does look really good. "He will be fine. Don't worry about him."
I sigh, knowing that he's probably right, and follow Jem until he stops outside of a small diner, holding the door open for the rest of us.
Upon entering, we take a seat at a booth, Sophie and Cecily on one side, and Jem and I on the other. "What are you guys going to order?" he asks, and hands us each a menu. "I think I'm just going to get the regular."
"Same," they both reply, and flip the menus open, then closed again, while I'm left staring at the one handed to me, never having been here before.
Suddenly, I fell Jem lean over me and flip my menu to a certain page, while he points to one of the menu items. "Get that. It's the best here."
I don't really care about what I eat, so I agree, and Jem orders for all of us when the waiter comes by.
We chat for a bit, and I learn that they have all known each other since they were young, and have many funny stories to tell. During one about Will and some ducks, Jem's phone starts ringing, and he picks his phone up, not recognizing the number, so he doesn't answer.
"It's probably a wrong number," he guesses, placing his phone out of sight once again, but then it rings again, within five minutes.
"Hello?" he says, placing the phone to his ear, and listens for a little bit. He appears to be getting nervous, as he clasps his hand on the table, and his mouth is twisted into a deep frown. "He did…? Is he okay…? Should we…? Of course."
He finally hangs up the phone, and we all stare at him for answers. Looking up sadly, he starts to rise from the table.
"Where are you going?" Cecily demands, "Who was that? What was so important about it?"
"That was the hospital downtown," he replies, motioning for us to follow him, and he heads over to the hostess at the front of the diner. "Will and his friends got into a car accident."
"What!?" Cecily screams, running and catching up to him. "When?! How!?"
Jem shakes his head, then leans over to the hostess to let her know why we're leaving all of a sudden, and Sophie grabs Cecily and keeps her from attacking Jem.
Following behind them, I take bigger steps to walk next to Jem, who's heading for the bus stop. He glances over to me, his eyes blank. "Are you coming, or do you want to go back to the school?"
"Of course I'm coming!" I exclaim, as he pulls me out of the way of an oncoming biker. "I wouldn't be able to get back to the school without you guys anyway."
He frowns, and stops walking entirely, turning around and rushing back to where Sophie and Cecily are lagging behind. He spins then in the opposite direction, placing a hand of Sophie's shoulder, the one that isn't holding up Cecily.
I hear him talking to them, his voice calm, and they start walking back to the school, which I presume is in the direction he made them go.
He sprints to catch up with me. "They're going back to the school. Do you want to go with them? The hospital doesn't like too many people in the lobbies, especially since Will isn't dying or anything, but I suppose two is fine. You can come if you want, but we have to hurry."
I nod, looking to where the bus stop is, and then in the other direction to see that the bus is coming. "I'll come with you. We had better hurry."
He grabs my arm, and we run to the stop, getting there just as the bus does, and he pays for the fare for both of us. Its more crowded than a cattle train in here, and most of the people are unsavory characters to be around, so he pulls me to the front of the bus, holding into one of the poles, and I take the one next to him.
The ride is a bumpy one, but I barely notice until one sudden jerk, and I fall backwards, and I feel a pair of arms catch me. Looking up, I see that It's Jem, and he heaves me back up, but this time makes me hold onto the same pole, and keeps one arm around my waist.
"Most of the people in here," he whispers into my ear, "Would try to fight you if you fell on them."
I don't reply, but hang onto him as we travel downtown in silence. At the stop, he lets go of me and heads out the door, as I follow him.
"The hospital is just a little bit away," he informs me, as he begins to walk one way. "It's only a block. They said that Will was fine, but he's unconscious and might need some help when he wakes up."
"Do you know what happened?" I ask, and he shakes his head.
"I don't. That's something we're going to have to ask Will. I mean, he's usually more cautious than getting in a car with a drunk driver… But I think he's the only person who can answer that question.
At the hospital, a nurse leads us into a small room, and Will's in there, covered in the hospital gown, and something else. Something red.
Blood. So much blood, though it's dried, and I can tell that he's not still continually bleeding, but the faint smell of copper fills the room, and I feel weak.
The room blurs, and I fall to my knees.
I know. None of you were expecting that. But I just had to throw a little somethung in... Because I needed to spice it up. Will's going to be fine, though, don't worry.
But also, leave me a review and let me know what you think, because I always enjoy hearing your thoughts! It's what influences a lot of my future chapters.
