Chapter Twenty-Seven

I would love to say that I evaded that awful beast, showing my awesome ninja skills. Love to say that my classmates cheered at my skill while defeating the eerie cat even with a rib fracture. Hatake being kind for once and helped me out by discarding the wretched beast.

But alas, that's not what happened. Not by a long shot, because I mean, hello? Hatake being caring? When would that ever happened while we're little? Probably not.

I mean I did try to evade, don't get me wrong, if I see a pouncing cat coming towards me, best believe I'm gonna try to dodge that sucker as best as I can. But seeing as I DID have a rib fracture and I'm not good yet at fighting through pain. The cat had reached me and sunk its teeth into my arm, when I tried to shield my face. I would love to say that I was calm about the situation, but then I would be lying.

I screamed bloody murder.

"GET IT OFF! GET IT OFF! GET IT OFF!" I exclaimed as I shook my arm back and forth trying to dislodge the cat.

"Stop moving idiot so I can!" Kakashi growled out when he tried to approach me.

I froze so he could, sitting perfectly still as he quietly approached so as not to startle the cat and make the situation worse.

I furrowed my brows at a strange sound nearby.

"Do you hear that?" I whispered to Obito and Hatake.

Kakashi gave me a deadpan stare as he silently approached, while Obito looked on with concern.

"That 'strange sound' you hear idiot is that cat purring." He stated as he crept closer.

"What? You've got to be joking!" I exclaimed, while my eyes shot to the cat. To see it already looking at me. My eyes went back and forth between the cats and I noticed that, for some reason or another that it's eyes were aware. It's like it knows who I am and what I'm going to do. But wouldn't that be ludicrous? But wait, crazier things have happened in this world, right?

It's about time you calmed down traveler.

My eyebrows went to my hairline in surprise at the deep voice that entered my head.

"Wha-?"

The cat rolled his eyes, speak in your head, you idiot. We don't want the others to overhear.

"You-" I shut my lips when the cat glared at me. You can talk?! Wait how is that possible? What am I saying? There are dogs here that can talk.

I'm not your everyday animal, I can assure you.

I am very aware of THAT. Seeing as you've been following me and biting me attests to that. I thought as I gave out a snort.

I have my reasons for the things I do.

Yeah but, my eyes widened as the beginning of the conversation caught back up with me. Wait you called me a traveler, a traveler of what?

The cat gave me a droll look before responding. Do not play dumb with me, it isn't becoming in the slightest.

I flinched as if slapped, Alright fine, how did you know that I don't belong here?

That's a much better question. People like us have a different smell and since we're here, a different chakra.

My eyes narrowed, Like us?

The cat's eyes glinted in approval. Precisely, when I mentioned I wasn't like any ordinary animal, I meant it. When I died in our world, I got sent here in this form. Well I started off as a human just like you but for some inexplicit reason, I was turned into this.

My eyes were laughing as I regarded him, maybe you pissed someone off and this is your punishment.

The cat just looked at me.

Ok, ok maybe not haha, anyway what's your name, I don't want to go around calling you the cat from now on.

My name is-

"-in! Hello earth to Rin!" I was startled out of my conversation with the cat to see Obito looking at me with concern waving his hand from left to right, trying to get my attention.

"Huh?" I gazed at him with a dazed look.

"You were out of it while that cat was attached to your arm. The only reason you're lucid now is because Hatake finally got the cat off your arm. That cat's grip on your arm was strong."

Surprised, I glanced over to see Kakashi scaring the cat off. I saw him fly towards the shrubbery.

Kakashi made his way over to us and once he stood in front of me, he asked me if I was alright.

I blinked up at him and told him I was fine. Then both Obito and Kakashi demanded that I go to the nurse to get it looked at just in case if it had rabies.

I just nodded in agreement as we headed towards the academy. I knew that I wasn't going to have rabies just as I know that won't be the last time I see that cat.

I glanced back over my shoulder one last time to see him stare at me, nodded his head and ran away.

I gazed back forward as both boys hauled me inside to see the nurse.

A/N: I know it's been forever since I updated and I'm sooooo sorry! I have no valid excuse for my absence and for that I am truly sorry. I'm gonna try, Keyword:TRY, to get one up sooner.
