(A/N): I'm terribly, terribly sorry. But I'm going to discontinue this fanfic. I know, I'm sorry! But I just...don't have any muse for this fandom anymore. I abandoned this too long, I totally forgot all of the characters I included in this series and who actually are they. When I re-read this fanfic, I need to open the google, asking myself "what was his face look like again?"

So, yes. I'm going to end this fanfic. I'll write the whole story here. Again, I'm totally sorry. I said it before that if I have to abandon my fic, I rather delete it entirely from the site. But this fic is, actually, halfway or near the end already. I don't want to abandon it myself if I have to

.

.

"Hey. Hey, Oga."

"Who—"

"Sssh...it's okay. You can rest. It's okay, now."

"No. No, it's not—"

"Why don't you talk to me about what happen to you these past days, hmm?"

"I don't—"

"You met a lot of new people, Oga. I'm so proud of you, you've grown up to be a good man, my bzzt bzzt."

"Wha—I can't—"

"So, please. Tell me what happened after that. After you heard about Hilda' disappearance."

...

"...yes. I-I remembered now. Hilda...Hilda disappears. And Saotome too. Tojo said...Tojo said Saotome kidnapped her."

"The next morning, when I woke up I found Tojo in the middle of the forest, a place where I usually hunt for breakfast. Legs broken beyond recognition, chest definitely caved in and...a slash across his neck. I-I don't know how he's still alive for a whole night, he must've...must've had a lot of will power to survive."

"Indeed."

"But...but I can't save him even with Alaindelon's and Lamia's help. Because it's clear he's already on his death door. He survived, agonizingly, so he could tell me that Saotome is...is a traitor. He is one of the Yakuza's member. Their spy, their ace card."

"Really now..."

"And then...and then after telling me the Yakuza's base location, Tojo's die. Alaindelon buried him and borrowing some of Hilda's kitchen knife, I proceed to go to the Yakuza's hideout."

"You went alone?"

"I...I don't have any choice. Alaindelon is not a fighter, even with his big body. Lamia's just a doctor and I cannot let her see her mother, knowing that she's mixed up with the bad crowd. Furuichi is hurt, Natsume is taking care of him. And someone really needs to watch over Beel. Especially with his mother gone."

"Okay. Go on."

"The hideout is located at the hidden, lone island. It was five stories mansion, surrounded by water and forest so thick you can't see the building even with a helicopter. When we arrived, it was clear the enemy knows about my presence. The clown—uh, Quetty?—greet me and proceed to fight me. He's really annoying, especially with that fufufu laugh of him."

Giggle, "you never fond of a clown anyway. You said their make-up looks so creepy"

"Wha—how'd you—"

"Then? What happened after that?"

...

"I nicked him with a paralyzing poison Lamia's prepared for me. An idea she got after my fight with err...Ru-chan?. She doesn't want to admit that she basically plagiarized other's work though. It's stronger than Ru's poison, enough to down an elephant. So after fighting him for a bit and let him fall into a trap, I escaped to the mansion. I make sure to...' borrow' a uniform from the approaching guard to blend myself in. I think they heard the alarm about the intruder? My sneaking in may not be smooth sailing but with the mayhem, I can wander around freely. I have to save Hilda as soon as possible. I don't know what will these people do to her."

"I know, Oga. That's a smart thing to do. You have to reserve your energy. Though you really should not go alone to the enemy's hideout in the first place."

"I told you I don't have a choice!"

"Okay, okay...I understand," another giggle, "so?"

"At the second floor, the Behemoth's member finally found me out. It was He—Hecadoth? And Ru. They told me they've been watching the chaos from the CCTV and it's weird that one guard didn't go to the entrance and keep climbing up the stairs so they concluded that guard is me. We fought. This time, I make sure to watch out for Ru's weapon. And they also make sure of Lamia's dart so I can't one-shot them just like what I did to Quetty. So it took a while. But I managed. I've been observing Ru's weapon and realized the poison is only on the tip."

"Of course. She has to hold it herself, you know."

"Yeah, sorry I'm slow."

A smirk

"So after she threw one, I caught it and threw it back to her, I managed to nick her on the side of the neck. She went down and Hecadoth went berserk."

"That doesn't sound good..."

"Yes. So, imagined my surprise when someone suddenly appeared out of nowhere. It's a man with a ponytail. I think his name is...Sakaki? He's weird, speaking only with one word and I'm pretty sure he's a nerd? He's wearing an anime t-shirt beneath his coat, for fuck sake!"

"It's not your place to judge other's people taste in clothing."

"I know. It's just...weird. He looks like he was dressed to go to a near market or something. Too casual!"

"Maybe he did and decided to visit the place for a sight-seeing?"

...

"...anyway, he told me to go ahead so I did. As I reached the third floor, someone went around the corner and we almost bump into each other. It was a girl with long, black hair, wearing a long, white coat. Her name is Aoi. She..."

"Hmm?"

"...no, forget about it. She...she was shocked, seeing me, calling my name. When I told her I don't know her, she looks sad. Then she asked me what am I doing there. I told her I want to save someone I know and stop Behemoth's evil way along the way. She sputtered and ask me why. The Oga she knew would never do that, she said. I told her because Furuichi said they've been wrecking people's lives left and right, even my family."

"That so..."

"Say, your voice sounds familiar. Who exact—"

"What happened after she heard your confession?"

...

"She said she...she cannot allow that. So she took out her bokken and attack me. In the middle of that battle, another person appeared. He's a man wearing glasses, called himself Izuma. He kicked her in the gut and sent her flying. As she struggled to stand up, he told me—with a creepy smile and closed eyes that annoyed me for some reason—to stop wasting time and go already. Honestly, he made it sounds like an order and I want to punch him for that."

"Again with the violence..."

"He's really getting on my nerve, okay? I don't know why but I just get this heebie-jeebies on my nape! So I left Izuma alone to take care of Aoi. Before that though, I heard..."

"Heard what?"

"I thought I heard Aoi said it's all his fault that I changed so much. Said that she'll defeat him and stop me from beating the Behemoth's squad. I...I don't understand. If she knew me, she must've known that Behemoth is an evil organization. She must've known I've lost my family because of them. So why..."

"...let us just continue the story for now, okay?"

"O-Okay," inhale, "so, on the fourth floor, I've met with Naga. He's already locked in battle with a blonde man and a buff guy, however. Name's Shinjo and Go. They look like they're having trouble because Naga's weapon is a long range weapon while they fought with fists so I intended to help them. But Go stop me as he parried Naga's attack, getting mad because I looked like I'm underestimating their power to beat this little kid, their word."

"When he said it like that, it sounds like he's the one who's underestimating the enemy."

"Exactly my point! Yet he doesn't want to listen! I don't want to break their concentration so I just proceed to the next floor."

"The last floor..."

"...yes. At the very end of the room, it's a study, surrounded by tons of books. There, I saw Hilda, slumped on the other side of the room. I immediately went to her and tried to wake her up. When she did, I ushered her to hurry up and leave now before the enemy come around and closed our exit"

"But the enemy is already there, right?"

Nod, "There's a table and a high chair in the middle of the room. I didn't see him because he turned his chair towards the bookcase and hidden his figure completely from my sight. He's a man with tan skin and spiky hair tied in a low ponytail. From his wide smirk and menacing aura, it was clear that he's one of the upper echelons. He introduced himself as Jabberwock and congratulate me for coming this far, including the help from those mysterious people. He asked me if he wants to join, someone with my caliber is wasting in the normal, daily lifestyle. Tarou Tsugami, his boss said he'll be happy to accept me. Of course, I refused them and pointed at him that I hate him for involving innocent people in the war of their kind."

"I don't blame you."

"His expression doesn't shift but his stance did. He said that if he didn't want to join them, then he'll get rid of me. Because my skills are dangerous and you should nip the danger from the bud. From his spiky knuckle, it was clear he's also a short-range fighter. I can't let him get near Hilda so I step forward and ready to fight him. But Hilda stop me, even with her weakened state, her grip was really tight. She looks at Jabberwock, eyes bulging and said."

...

Dear? Is that you?

...

"Jabberwock is...her husband?"

Nod, "I don't want to believe it too. However, I saw his red eyes shifted. Like he was trying to swallow an immediate response. Hilda moved to approach him but I held her back. Hissing not to do anything stupid. She responded back that she's not stupid, she just wanted to ask her husband where was he these past years? Making her think that he's dead? Why did he leave them? Why was he involved in this bad crowd and be their leader in the first place? She looks...she looks desperate. I know from her expression alone she didn't want to acknowledge this as a truth"

"It must be hard, to know your dear person literally betrayed you like that..."

"...the thing that made me went ballistic is how...emotionless he was as he said—"

.

I never acknowledge a weak girl like you as my wife

.

"I could literally hear Hilda's heart crack like a glass, okay? I could literally see how her will to live drain. It was clear that, even after the abandonment, she still loves him. Still believe in him that one day...one day he'll come back. One day, they'll be back to the happy family they were."

(I'm just a stranger. I'm nothing to them, to Hilda or to Beel)

"Oga..."

"So yes. I was mad. I just want to punch his smug face till it caved in. Then I want him to apologize. Apologize to Hilda. Apologize to Beel. Apologize to everyone he wrong. The fight went for...a long time? Or maybe not? I can't really tell. I was just...so consumed by my own anger. Too consumed that I didn't realize the bookcase at my back slowly opened, revealing a hidden path and—"

.

Hilda, stood listlessly at the other side, was startled from her depression. Without even thinking she jumped, pushed Oga to the side

BANG

PRANG

Oga could only stare in horror when Hilda's face frozen, blood pouring out from the left side of her chest

.

"After that...after that, I blacked out. I-I think I was about to chase the gunner but Jabberwock block my way so maybe I continue my fight with him? The next thing I knew, Jabberwock is already on the floor, bleeding on his stomach, a knife still planted deep inside it. I was horrified. I didn't mean to...I didn't want to kill him. I-I just want him to repent! I just want him to stop this and live a normal life like Hilda wish him to. I—"

"Sssh...shhh Oga..."

"I can't...I don't want to—"

"You don't want to continue remembering?"

"I-I..."

"Even when the truth is right within your grasp?"

...

"But...but it hurt"

"I know..."

"It hurt so much..."

"I know..."

.

I just want to rest...

.

I know...

.

.

...

Sniff, "I'm sorry..."

"Even a man should cry once in a while. It's what human does; having emotions."

"...you're right."

"So...do you wish to continue your story?"

"...do I have to?"

"If you don't want to, that's okay."

"But if I don't, this will bury the truth forever, isn't it?"

"...it is. Though like I said if you don't want to—"

"I! I...I don't want to. But if I don't, Hilda's sa-sacrifice will be for nothing..."

"..."

"Af-After that, I went to the hidden path. It brought me to the rooftop of the mansion. There, in the middle of the drizzling rain that started since who-knows-when, was Saotome. His back was on me, smoking an unlit cigarette. Even though he didn't face me directly, the aura he exuded felt just as intimidating as Jabberwock. But at the same time, he looks...forlorn."

"He asked me what I was doing? Coming here alone, with no backup. The person I want to save was dead and what I'm doing is practically futile. The people I've met, the Behemoth and those mysterious people and that swordswoman are fighting for their life. Maybe some of them are already dead, even, when I'm too busy consumed by my own anger. Forgetting my mission to get out with Hilda as fast as possible."

Now they're all gone. Your mysterious rescuer, your enemy, even my comrade.

"I was...I was already exhausted. I don't have any energy to even get mad at him. So I ask—"

Are you Tarou Tsugami?

"It was silent for a while before he laughed. It sounds so...manic, bitter, hysterical."

"Sad"

"He turned to me, face blank. That was the first time I saw him look like that. And somehow. Somehow, I—"

.

"That doesn't suit you, Saotome" A grin and a pat on the back, "Come on, smile! You know the ladies here don't like frowns. Look at Hec, for example,"

.

"...he then said, 'Tarou Tsugami is our boss. Tarou Tsugami is the Number One' as he stepped back. One step, two steps, he's on the edge of the rooftop. ' He smiled. It looks so forced, so, so forced—"

.

"That's our last hint for you, Oga-chan. I hope with this keyword, you'll get your memories back."

.

"And then—"

He falls.

.

He falls, falls, falls! To the cold river of night.

.

And Oga was left alone; with no companies, no friends—

.

no family

.

He didn't know if the water running down his cheeks was from the rain or him crying to the sky.

.

.

.

His ears caught the sound of static from the lonely television in this abyss without ending. His head was lying on top of the laps of...someone, caressing his hair lovingly and soothingly. It was a woman with short black hair that went past her ears, a charming smile adored her silky skin. He couldn't see her face clearly though; like some kid scribbled all over her face with a black crayon. But somehow, somehow he knew her. Somehow, he—

"I...remember everything"

The smile turned into a full-blown laugh, "really? I'm so glad!"

"And I know the truth."

"About?"

"The real culprit"

She hummed, fingers that cradling his head stop. Oga took that as his cue to rise up so he did. A door suddenly appeared at the right side of the abyss—it was a mahogany door with a golden knob—like this place knew the brunette is ready to face the reality. While he stood and ready to go, the woman was sitting on the lone floor, watching the static.

"Oga," he grunted, giving her a silent confirmation to continue. She still didn't move, though slowly but surely, the crayon scribble on her face fade into nothingness. Till it finally disappears for good, giving him a view of a fierce glare of a strong yet kind girl, "I'm just glad you're alive, Oga."

He didn't answer, only approached the door with silent steps. When he grabbed the knob, his cracked lips opened and he uttered—

"Thank you. And I'm sorry—"

.

"Misaki nee-chan"

In the forest behind Hilda's house, he walked.

TAP TAP TAP

TAP

Until he arrived at a small clearing, watching the back of another man standing, praying to the grave of the brave man, Tojo.

"Oh, Oga. You're back!" he smiled, orbs shone with disbelief and relief, "I was...I was so worried when I heard you went alone to those bastard's place. Why won't you ask N—"

"Cut the crap," Oga growled, the man abruptly stopped short on his ramble. The brunette's hand was hidden inside his pants' pockets. It was clear he was trying to contain his rage, judging from the tremble and gritted teeth, "you can stop deceiving me now. Because I know. I know that you—"

.

"Fufufu...then let me introduce myself. My name's Quetzalcoatl, at your service"

.

"You, are the one who killed my family—"

.

"A-gi-e-ru. Ru-chan!"

.

"You, are the one who deceived us—"

.

"Tarou Tsugami is our boss. Tarou Tsugami is the Number One*"

.

"You, are the one who betrayed us—"

.

"That's our last hint for you, Oga-chan~"

.

Tarou Tsugami

.

"You, are the traitor of us—"

.

U r Oga Tatsumi

.

"You, are our real 'enemy'—"

.

You are our boss, Oga Tatsumi.

.

.

.

"Furuichi"

"How dare you..." Oga growled, eyebrows furrowed even more when the white-haired man—Furuichi (traitor, traitor, traitor)—didn't even try to defend himself and just drop his act immediately; orbs halfway open and expression uncaring, "how dare you lied to me..."

"What? Like you don't know. That's just how Yakuza work," he gave him a smirk, sight narrowed in apparent bliss, "that's how Rokkisei work~"

"But why?" even to his own ear, his voice cracked in desperation, "my father saved you from the street. We treat you as our family. You are my family!"

"Oga, Oga, Oga...even now, you're still as blind as a bat," he shook his head with false pity. With hands on his hips and head tilted just slightly, somehow giving it a perfect angle for shadows to shadowed his complexion, "do you think my appearance near the alley your father frequented to patrol over is a coincidence? Of course not. Knowing your father's bleeding heart for a Yakuza, he cannot resist an abandoned child. That's what I'm counting for. I'm trying for him to notice me and adopted me."

"Again. Why?!"

"Because I hate your father. Your whole family."

"You realized the implication of stray kids in that area, right? Collateral damage from Yakuza turf war. You know now that it was my intention to be seen by your father, right? That you can start to see the big picture here. I'm trying to destroy your family from the inside out," Furuichi stared, "just like what your father did to my innocent, civilian family that was there at the wrong time in the wrong place."

"Hmf. Maybe that was also the reason for your father's kindred heart. He realized he involved a lot of innocent lives, that's why he took care every single stray he could find," the teen mockingly laughed, "realized that he's the reason a lot of people are without partners or orphaned."

"..."

"But you know, no matter how much I hate your father for it, I was actually having a lot of fun with you. You and your sister," Oga shoulder tensed at that, "and a bit bitter, knowing that you two lived a happy life while I suffer in silence."

"Over time, my hatred started to wane, actually. Because even if I hate your father, I could not hate you two. You are just too innocent for this dark, dark world. So instead of destroying it from inside out, I want to change it for the better. Even if I can't be the leader, I know someday, that you or your sister will. So I'll be happy if to help you from the background. As a family."

"Your help is twisted, Furuichi!" Oga chocked, "you—you killed those who don't suit your 'ideal world'! You killed father! Yata! Lunana! Kirin—"

"You even kill my sister!"

...

"That's her own fault for trying to save your father when I burn down the manor"

"AAARRRRRGGGHHHHHHHHH!"

"It's ironic that you, their boss, are the one who brings demise to your own Family, isn't it?"

"..."

"You even involved a civilian in this"

"..."

"See how's that feel? When I lost my family because of your father's ego and stupidity?"

"..."

"Natsume did a good job in hiding his presence and timing the things right. Make's you think Saotome is the one who tried to kill you, isn't it?"

"..."

"Though not that good of a job if a civilian could see him from across the room via the window. Or maybe Hilda is just that impressive"

"S-shut up. Don't you dare call her name with that filthy mouth of yours. Just die already."

"Ahaha...as you wish—"

.

"—boss"

...

.

.

"It's just like you to have a final word in everything, huh..."

Miki ran with all his might, eyes frantic and breath hectic. He stopped when he saw two figures slowly appeared from behind the trees, one of them cradling the person he was searching for.

"Oga!" he approached, hand hovering over the brunette's unconscious form, "Basilisk-san, is Oga-san—"

"He's okay," Laymia said, cleaning her bloody hand using a pink handkerchief, "I managed to close his wound. He just needs to rest."

"I-I'm sorry. If only...if only I know about Izuma's betrayment..." Miki clenched his fist, he let out an involuntary hiccup, "maybe...maybe everyone in Behemoth's headquarter—"

"It's not your fault, Miki-san. We are to blame for this. I, am to blame for this," Laymia interjected, her gaze was away from the trembling figure of Oga's best friend, "as our boss' family, as our boss' doctor, I should've considered his health; not just physically but also mentally. Maybe...maybe he will not search Furuichi and...Rokkisei alone and got injured so badly, he wanted to erase it from his memory himself"

"It's...all of this will not happen If I...if I just do. My. Job"

.

They watched as Oga whimpered, a lone tear fell down from the closed eyes.

In another place yet the same time, Lamia cooed over Beel while Alaindelon looked out the window, frown marred his aged face.

"I hope she's okay..."

.

Please come back soon, Hilda-san

"Are you okay about this, Jabberwock?"

"I am, Oga-sama. As long as Hilda's safe, I don't mind if I have to stay away from her."

"...she's your family, you remember? And you said she was waiting for the baby arrival, isn't she?"

"..."

Sigh, "will you at least visit her once in a while? I promise you I'll hide her relation to you even to our Family member."

"...I will, after we find the traitor. And—"

.

"Thank you, Oga-sama"

Jabberwork, who managed to stay alive even after the critical wound, crawled. Slowly, painstakingly, covering the whole tile with blood. Oga could only watch with frozen horror when he approached Hilda's prone body, looking into her glassy, dead eyes. With trembling hand, he grasped her cold fingers, clutching it with tender he only saw only a couple times.

Then he changed his gaze to his boss, who was still watching with bated breath.

"Thank you, Oga-sama..."

...

"For giving me a chance to see her one more time..."

But why?

.

Why did you thank me?

.

When I failed to keep my promise

.

When I failed to protect her

.

When I failed to protect you

.

When I failed to protect my family

.

When I failed to protect my own sister

.

Another hiccup, another tear.

.

.

When I failed to protect even the woman I love

END

(A/N): Tarou Tsugami is the Number One = Ichi in Japanese

so Jabberwork basically doing what Nohara Rin did. Knowing her wife is dead, he let his boss killed him so he could join her. A stupid thing to do because he still has Beel as his family. A stupid thing to do because he basically gives his boss another PTSD to take care of. Yes. Just like what Nohara Rin did to Kakashi...

(I'm sorry for Rin's fans, but her suicide act using Kakashi is really pissed me off)

Everyone is friendly with each other before Furuichi's betrayment. But after that, Rokkisei went to Furuichi's side—except Miki, who only followed Izuma because he believed in him when he said this is for the better. Didn't realize Izuma is just using him—and Behemoth and Aoi's group is trying to stop them.

Natsume? He managed to escape and the rest of Behemoth who are still alive are still trying to track him down.

Oga love towards Hilda? Of course, he doesn't have any when he's still the boss of Behemoth's pillar. She's someone else wife, for God sake. He realized that he has it when Hilda is gone and really, it's already too late.

Ask me if you still didn't understand some of them. Again, I'm sorry for abruptly ending this story
