Day 20 of the 100 Day Drabble Challenge, here we go.

Once upon a time, a word shaker and a Jewish fist fighter fell in love.

The word shaker was originally a young girl, and the fist fighter was an old young man. Their eyes had seen too much for their ages. The world had been too cruel to them from the beginning. Their parents gone, family taken away, they found solace where they could.

For the word shaker, she found relief in a new mama and papa. They taught her and loved her and tried to give her the best years they could.

For the fist fighter, his reprieve was found in those who were kind to him despite who he was. He was a Jew. Jew meant trouble for the fist fighter. Jew meant trouble for all.

The word shaker's and fist fighter's lives did not intersect for many years. But when they did, it was harsh. Their lives slammed into each other. The fist fighter ended up in the basement of the word shaker's home. There he stayed for a long time, spending time with the word shaker and forming an inseparable friendship. This friendship was put to the test when the fist fighter stole away one night after deciding he could jeopardize the family no more.

They did not see each other for a long time after that.

But one day, the word shaker saw her friend. He marched with other Jews through the streets of her home. She said the hello and goodbye she'd missed before. Then the fist fighter was gone again.

The word shaker's family and friends died some time later. She was left alone in the world. As she grew, she ended up working for the father of her dead best friend. She was spending time picking up the pieces of her broken self. This is when the word shaker and the fist fighter met for the third time. He showed up at her work and they fell to the ground, hugging and crying. Clutching like each was the other's lifeline.

The word shaker and fist fighter ended up living together. At first, it was as friends. Then it was as a husband and wife. Then it was as a family. The word shaker and fist fighter often told their children stories about them from the past. Of course, the young ones had a favorite. It started out like this:
