About six months later
It was a day of change. Things had changed within the months of them dating, but this was a big change day. Kurt was excited because he finally got a new chance on his career and Blaine was also eager to meet Kurt, because he had news of his own. Later on that day, while Kurt was thrilled by the opportunity he had just got, he didn't anticipate what he had ahead of. What plans Blaine had ahead of him, more especially, for them. He wasn't very good of keeping things from him, but this was something he somehow could keep to himself. The thought occurred to Blaine for the first time at their first Christmas together, but back then it was a simple seed that had grown in these past months.
The boys met at their usual place, the Tiny Restaurant (the one of their "first date"),which had become their own personal place, kind of the place they loved to go because it gave them the privacy they needed. Even Kurt was beginning to move on from his usual coffee order because of this place. "You know my coffee order?" Kurt asks as they stepped in the restaurant where the waiters didn't stare at them anymore, because they had become the regulars at there, Kurt knew the customers by their names and he knew their relationship troubles too well since spending too much time there.
"Certainly," the hazel eyed boy says. "I have known you over a year. What don't I know about you?" He says in his thoughts, then laughing, as he walks to order their coffees. Kurt smiles to himself, watching him ordering perfectly, not paying attention to the cashier who was, who smiled perfectly at him with stunned eyes even she was the regulars worker. It was almost as the young celebrity didn't see no one else in the cafe than Kurt, his eyes would always find his. Even when he wasn't looking right back at him.
They sat down to their usual spots, Kurt noticing Blaine's unusual nervousness as he took a long gulp, then putting his hands to his coats pockets, trying to hide their shakiness.
"You okay?" Kurt raises his one eyebrow.
"Yeah, yeah, I'm fine. " Blaine replies, almost too casually as his eyes wonder around the place. He can at once sense there was, as a matter of fact, something wrong with him and Kurt was concerned the moment.
"How did you know to call me?" His boyfriend asks.
"What do you mean 'how'?"
"I mean, you said you had news, which is totally freaky, because that's what I was going to say! I was going to call you about news."
"Really?" Blaine coughs as he was swallowing the hard liquid. "You.. have news?"
"Oh, don't look so worried," Kurt chuckles as he saw his worried puppy eyed look. "It's amazing news, actually. We must be kindred spirits or something."
Blaine laughs nervously. "I guess we are."
"So, yeah, anyway, I have great news. Wanna guess?"
"Umm.." Blaine stutters, as Kurt was to burst out of excitement, he even tapped the corners of the table with his fingers impatiently. "I got a part in a play!" Kurt yelled as he couldn't keep the information inside him any longer, his face all eager, his whole body almost jumping out the chair he was sitting in.
"Oh my god, wow, Kurt! That's amazing, that's wonderful.. that's - ," Blaine begins to congratulate him, then suspension growing to his mind. "Wait, don't tell me you're joking."
"Joking? Do I look like I'm joking? I'm being serious! I, got a part in a play. I mean.. it's not great one, but then again I kinda wanted not so big role. Well, okay, it kinda is. I'm one of the main characters, but still, the theater is kinda hidden and not very big. I'm sure the audience isn't even half the size of the one I -"
"Woah, woah, woah, hold up, hold up!" Blaine stops him as Kurt always got excited, he talked too much. He always talked too much but whenever he was really keen he talked extra faster and that was the reason why he was almost out of breath as he spoke so fast and without breathing.
"How did you get into play? Yesterday when I called you, there was no sign of anything. Have you kept this from me?"
Kurt laughs loud. "You know me, I can't keep anything from you. No, it happened yesterday, not so much after your call. It happened so fast I still can't believe it."
"Well, why don't you start from the beginning. "
"Really?" Kurt asks, his boyfriend nodding with a smile, wanting to tell the story badly. "Okay then. Well, you know we were supposed to meet yesterday but then I said I couldn't come? That's why. I got lost around here somewhere, embarrassed to call you out, yeah I know don't even say anything. Anyway, I walked around about twenty minutes to find the coffee shop we were supposed to meet, and I saw this tiny theater and walked inside, asking directions. There I saw this note saying "auditions today" and boom, I was in the stage auditioning. I just thought to myself: Well, this can't be bad, right? And they didn't have the script so it was informal audition. The director seemed to like me so he casted me right on that spot. I called you when they said they would wanna discuss the part with me and well, there went the whole night, and here I am."
Blaine stared at his boyfriend the whole time he explained it, liking the way his hands move along his telling and how dramatic he tried to be. Kindred spirits.. yeah, pretty accurate I'd say, he thinks with a cute smile.
"That sounds fantastic," he smiles as he finished, drinking his coffee. "What's the play about?"
"Um, you know, some teen love story. The usual. " Kurt sighs bored, though he kind of liked it was a boring play for once. He wouldn't have to get extra pressure about it and the play wouldn't go over a year, more like six months tops.
"Ah, yes. Maybe you can change it a bit."
"Nah, I doubt it. But you're gonna love it, you know why? Because I'm in it." Kurt laughs, making Blaine laugh too.
"I'll be in the front row, you can be sure of it."
He smiles, loving how Blaine promised cute things like that, making him happy even more. Now that Kurt had told him what he wanted to say him all this time since last night, he remembered noticing his nervousness earlier. It was still there, Blaine's fingers inside his pockets, his gaze going down and around the place every now and then.
"When you said news.. oh. You have news, too, don't you?" Kurt figures it out pretty fast. Suddenly he was the worried one. He didn't like the look on him. Blaine chuckles quietly, his hand moving from the pocket. He takes a small, velvet, square, box and puts it on the table.
"Blaine, if that is a engagement ring box - " He breathes heavily.
"No worries, it's not a ring. Not yet, anyway." Blaine smiles sweetly, sliding the small box on the table to him. Kurt looks at Blaine to see if his face got any clues, but nothing. Only a mysterious smoulder.
"Open it." Blaine suggests warmly. Kurt takes a deep breath, opening the velvet box and surprises what it has inside.
"Key?" Kurt frowns confused. He takes the golden key out the box. " I don't understand. I already have a key to your home."
"Yes, but," Blaine swallows. "this is a key to our home."
Kurt gaps, almost dropping the key. "Wait what?"
"If you want, I mean." Blaine corrects, sounding doubtful, looking at him to see what he was going to say, but his eyes were glued to the key in his hands.
"Are you asking me to.. to.. "
"Yes."
It had been so obvious to Kurt. He had took it granted. He already thought of living with him, since he spend almost 24/7 around his place that his apartment started to feel unfamiliar to him, and Blaine's house grew more like a home to him.
"You already spend like all the time at my place, anyway. It wouldn't be big of a difference. Also you said that the theater is close to where I live, so you would need to live at my house nevertheless. ", Blaine says, proving a point.
"So you're forcing me to move in with you?"
"You really don't have a choice. "
"I guess I don't. But wait, it still doesn't make any sense. Why are you giving me a key? I already have a key. It's not like we're moving in a new house.. Or are we?"
"No, we're not, - "
"Did you have to change the locks because your mother's being too nosy again?"
"She's not nosy," he corrects, Kurt giving him look. "she's being a mother. "
"Right, right. So what's the meaning of this key?"
"I made them, for us. Look." Blaine explains, then unearth his own key out of his pocket. It was exactly alike, golden, and with a letter on it. It had the letter K on it, and Kurt had the letter B on his key. "Cute." Kurt says as he saw the matching keys.
Blaine cleared his throat awkwardly, "So, uhm, just to be clear. You really want to do this? You're okay with this?"
"Of course I'm okay with this, silly," he smiles at him. "Like you said, I basically live with you already. It'll be fun. It's time to go little forward with our relationship, don't you think?"
"Yeah, I was so nervous about this, I don't know why."
"Come here, you cutie." Kurt raises from the chair, reaching over him, pulling him from his coats collars and kisses him.
"I love you."
"I love you."
It wasn't hard to Kurt to move out, with all Blaine's help and so on, but as the moving day got closer, the more afraid he came. He wasn't afraid of living with him, he already knew that wasn't it, it was the part of when he was packing his belongings. He was really doing it, moving away from his first apartment he lived in. He phoned for his father the following day he and Blaine decided to move in, and Burt was more than happy for him. Kurt avoided calling his sister, knowing what her reaction would be. He ended up not calling her, until she called him and was upset why she had to find out by their father. Kurt agreed making a deal with her, which he already regretted, which was that she was invited to the housewarming party. Which, of course, wasn't going to happen until he made the deal but probably was just Kurt's friends and Blaine.
The day of the move in. Kurt slept his final night in that bed surprisingly well, though he had been stressing out the day for weeks. Blaine had collected his packed boxes along the week, and today was the final boxes. There was things they needed to take care of, like his post and etc, but Blaine said he took care of it for him, because he wanted the day to be as relaxing and amazing as it could be.
"You ready?" Blaine asks as he carried the last box, only his bag in his hands.
"Give me a minute."
"I'll wait downstairs. Take all the time you need." He says politely, watches a second as Kurt walks around in the empty apartment. He walked around there for fifteen minutes, thinking the happy memories he had there. The times his sister came to visit.. very second he thought of that, and the memory made him smile, and laugh. He remembered the very moment, about a year ago, the time Rachel was going to his concert. How things turned out to be.. Kurt could have not pictured this future he was having. Future with him. And now they were moving in together. How much Kurt had hated Blaine in the first place, disliked him, and now, look where they were. Kurt chuckled to himself, touched the walls for once last time, and walked, and left his former home forever, heading to a completely new start. With him.

It appeared that Blaine had cleared out one of his guest rooms, the biggest and nicest one, for Kurt's room. As Kurt entered to Blaine's home, his home, it felt new. Thousands and thousands times he had entered and walked through the house, but it was now his home. Their home. Whenever Kurt came from work or from friends, he would come to this address. It would take some time to adjust, but he just had it. Since his new play would start in this month, he would have to quit his job at the dance company. He knew Sue would hate that, but she already was proud of him of he part. Blaine carried the boxes to his room like a gentleman he was. Kurt walked and gazed the walls he had looked at so many times and knew by heart, with different eyes. "My home," he said to himself thoughtfully. His eyes gazed at the few paintings, then his nose scrunched at the one of them. "Okay... but first, let's get rid of you."
Kurt reaches to his tiptoes, grasping the painting. "Ugh, you're heavier than you look." Kurt huffs as the painting moves from its nail, having to find his balance as the heavy painting is in his arms.
"I thought you liked that painting." Blaine's voice surprises him, making him drop the painting to the ground, its cracking noise echoing loudly. Kurt closes his eyes tightly in worry. Please don't be broken, please don't be broken..
"You broke it."
"Oh, shit. I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to. I just wanted to move it.. somewhere else." Kurt apologizes quickly, kneeling over the paintwork as he turns it over. The frames were cracked and the painted paper popped out of it.
"You really didn't like the painting?" Blaine asks stunned, his hands on his hips. "I always thought you loved it."
"Really? This?" Kurt raises the painting at him, pointing at him: it was a pastille color painted picture of Blaine in one of his poses.
"Well, it's an artwork."
"Right. Anyway, let's get this to a place it deserves to be." Kurt said and he and Blaine carried the painting to his cellar. After that, he helped Kurt with his room and opening few boxes until they got hungry, and ordered take out.
The moving day was exhausting and went by fast. They couldn't be happier that day, both knowing it was the right choice. The night they spend cuddling in the couch and watching tv. It had usually ended Kurt having to leave for his home, until the moment Blaine let him stay over, and now it was even better. Kurt didn't have to leave his warm arms. He could be there as long as he wanted, and he would be. It wasn't until Blaine straightened his position, when was over midnight and he said, "I'm sorry but I can't sleep here, it kills my back. " He raised from the couch, but Kurt was still happy. After many nights spent on the living room couch and having a back and neck ache in the morning, Kurt agreed. He got up, showered, and then went to get night snacks.
Blaine was laying in his king sized bed, trying to sleep. He was looking at the roof, thinking. There was something missing. It was like his body and mind didn't, couldn't sleep. His room was empty, like Blaine, there was a piece missing. He looked around, then looking at the other size of the bed. He knew what was missing and he wouldn't go sleep without it. His one true love.
Kurt shut the fridge door, putting the plate to the dishwasher. He had shut most of the lights so it was pretty dark in the kitchen. When he was going to his room, he surprised a little when he saw dark Blaine in the kitchen.
"Oh, hey." Kurt greets, thinking how he didn't even hear his steps.
"Sorry.. I didn't mean to scare you." Blaine chuckles and walks to the light.
"It's fine. I thought you went to bed."
"Yeah.. yeah. I did. It's just..," Blaine mutters. "There's something missing. "
"Oh?" Kurt asks. Blaine walks approaches him, Kurt smiling sweetly as Blaine wraps his arms around his waist.
"You." He grins warmly, with sparkly eyes. Kurt doesn't anything, laughs softly, their foreheads touching. He stares into his beautiful eyes, full of love.
They fell asleep, close to each other, snuggled, warm, and happy.
