It was odd, sitting by as the others went to school. If anything, it only left him with thoughts, memories. Terri sat within Randy's room, no one else within the house currently. His parents had gone to work, Randy at school with Howard, leaving only silence within the home. Randy had left music and video games for him to occupy the time with. Once he got done with school, he and Howard were supposed to head back here. They would hang out for a bit, before he would head back with Howard to his home for the night.
If anything, part of him felt like a shared pet or something, being passed back and forth between the two. They were doing their best, but he couldn't shake the feeling he didn't belong here. Why should he? He was an android, a robot. Glancing down at his hands, a frown crossed over his lips. He turned his gaze towards the mirror within the room, to see such a human face looking back at him. Human...something he could never be. Knowing it was dangerous, he slipped downstairs to the kitchen and to the phone.
He hesitated in picking it up, his hand moving to dial the number of his creator...his father. Of course, he would stop at the last number. What was he doing? Putting the phone down, he shook his head. He would be getting himself and Randy in trouble. The number would be easily traced back to this house, not to mention that if the other got caught talking to him, then he would be exposed as back in town. So silence it was for now. Turning away from the phone, he walked over to the window. It really was a nice day, but he couldn't risk going out.
Scratch what he said before, he felt more like a prisoner than a pet. As long as the override protocol was still a threat, as well as McFist, he could not risk it. Still...being stuck inside was all but torture. He knew something was on its way, as well as that it was not friendly by any means. It was sitting still though that was keeping him safe. Shaking his head, a hand moved to run through his hair. Man this was a pain...feeling...emotion. A sigh escaped him, despite not having to breath to survive. He'd come so far from being the android he'd been back then.
Maybe that was part of the problem. He was growing to soft. No, his knowledge, his abilities were his strength. This included the one to feel and to think for himself. Frowning a bit, he lifted a hand, the mark on the back of it glowing. In a flash of light, his ninja form was revealed. He couldn't sit by, he needed to see him...as much of a problem it could cause. Moving back upstairs and to the window, he was out of there without a second glance back.
Viceroy stood by his computer, typing away at the code for the new robot McFist was waiting for. A sigh slipped from his lips. Try as he might, he couldn't completely focus on the task at hand, not while knowing that Terri was back in the city.
"What were you thinking..." he mumbled to himself.
Of course he knew the answer, and to be honest, he was thankful. The other had been hurt, he'd come back to the place he knew he could get help...where there were people who cared for him. Then again, this was the worst place for him as well. He shouldn't have come back, but he did. A small smile formed on his lips, he was glad to see the other, even if it wasn't the best of circumstances. He'd been worried about him. Then again, he was still furious to know someone had damaged him. They were going to pay, that he was sure of.
He got back to work, focusing harder on the code, before a flash of light moved over the screen to the computer. Another frown, he watched the light dance across the screen for a moment. What was that? Turning, he noticed it coming from out the window. Sighing, he opened a drawer and grabbed a pair of binoculars, before moving towards the window.
"What in the world is..." he froze, the scene coming into focus from through the lenses.
Terri stood on the roof of a building across the way. He kept far enough, that the immediate alarm systems would not pick up his presence, though close enough and directly in sight that the doctor could see him clearly. Without a second thought himself, Viceroy tossed the binoculars aside and made his way out of the lab.
Terri waited on the other side of the roof, out of the line of sight from McFist's base for the moment now. He had returned to human form, leaning against the edge of the building as the door behind him opened. He didn't need to turn to know the other was behind him. With a sigh, he slowly turned to face him, eyes casted downwards onto the ground.
"I know I shouldn't be here" he began, "but-"
That was as far as he got, before he felt the arms wrap around him in a hug. Blinking a bit, he was caught off guard. He had been expecting all manners of responses from yelling to a simple displeased stare down, but not this. Something inside of him gave a sharp tug, something he couldn't explain. Without knowing why, he wrapped his arms around the other, burring his face in his chest for a moment. Viceroy's expression softened, a hand lifting to rest atop the other's head.
"I missed you..." he said quietly.
Terri stood still for a moment, before pulling back to look at him.
"You're not mad?" he asked a bit cautiously.
A flicker of anger formed on the scientist's face, his arms crossing over his chest.
"Of course I'm mad...what are you doing here!?" he asked.
Terri rubbed the back of his neck, "I...had to see you."
And as quickly as it had formed, the anger was gone. The man gave a small smile, shaking his head.
"You're very brave...and very foolish...typical teenager I guess" he chuckled, "I built you well."
Terri smiled a bit, "that you did...though I caused you a lot of trouble in the end."
"You still are" Viceroy smiled, "makes me feel more like a father than before.."
He worried about the teen android, his well being and more. He could not help it, such causing him to defy McFist more than once now.
"You know why I couldn't be there when you woke don't you?" Viceroy moved to the edge of the building, looking out at the city.
"Because it's to dangerous?" Terri asked, most logical conclusion.
"That" Viceroy nodded, "and...if I had stayed...not sure I could simply walk away after."
Terri watched him for a moment, letting his words play through his mind. Walk away...from him? The other showed affection towards him, they had built a family bond, one of a father and son. They were more than simply a man and his creation, but still... Terri moved over by his side.
"I thought I could come to repair...tell the Ninja about the coming threat...and go" it had been so logical in his head, the robot side of him thinking, "now though...from the moment I woke up...I knew it wouldn't be that simple."
He lowered his head, closing his eyes. Viceroy turned his eyes on the boy.
"Seeing the Ninja...being back here...seeing you..." he opened his eyes, "this is my home...this is where I need to be, at least for now."
The scientist sighed, chuckling a bit, "I had a feeling you were going to say that..."
Terri turned his gaze to the other, tilting his head a bit curiously.
"You're not mad?" he'd ask the same question as before.
The other shook his head, turning to face him once more. Reaching inside his lab coat, he pulled out what looked like a phone. He held it out to Terri, who accepted it and proceeded to observe it. The only number in it was Viceroy's personal number.
"It's dangerous...every second you're here, is one that you could get caught" he said, "even so, I am glad to have you home...and we will figure this out together."
Terri glanced up at him, "...but McFist..."
Viceroy shook his head, "that man is going to have to learn to deal with it, this is happening with or without his approval."
Terri smiled, though he knew that such would cause trouble for his father and creator. Though at the same time, he could see the other honestly meant his words. He tightened a hand around the phone nodding.
"Now you better get out of here, before we get caught" Viceroy turned, knowing he needed to get back to the lab, before he was noticed missing.
"Thank you...father..." Terri said, watching him go.
A smile lingered on the Scientist's lips as he exited the roof, he never got tired of hearing that.
"Terri!" Howard yelled as soon as he stepped through the door to the house, causing Randy to roll his eyes.
Terri stepped down the stairs, catching sight of the pair and giving them a light wave.
"Welcome home" he was in a far better mood now that he'd seen his father.
The pair seemed to catch notice of this, Randy arching a brow.
Howard rubbed his chin a bit, "didn't seriously think the video games we left you with would make you this happy."
He shook his head, following them into the kitchen for a snack, "it wasn't that."
"Find some other way to entertain yourself while we were gone?" Randy asked, opening a bottle of water.
He knew there were books around the house and junk, but seriously, who read now a days?
"Actually...I went to see my father" he admitted.
Randy nearly choked, spitting out the water, as Howard pulled the sandwich he was making out of the splatter zone.
"You did what?" he asked.
Terri pulled out the phone, sitting it on the counter. Both of the teens looked at it, Howard literally reaching out to poke it a bit.
"He gave me this to contact him with...he's on our side, he wants to help" Terri leaned against the counter.
"Oh yea, cause he couldn't wait to get out of there fast enough when you were hurt the other day" Randy rolled his eyes.
He knew that the man was probably doing it to protect Terri, he had said as much, but still.
Terri frowned a bit, "he's still my creator...my father."
Howard bit into his sandwich, watching between the two like it was some kind of tennis match. Randy crossed his arms, frowning a bit.
"How do we know that McFist wont catch wind of this...he could end up tracing you right here to my house or to Howard's" he pointed out.
Terri felt a flare of emotion he'd come to know as anger.
"If it's that big of a problem, I wont put you in danger. I'll leave" he picked up the phone, turning to go.
Howard nearly choked this time, Randy moving forward to block the way, his arms outstretched.
"Whoa whoa whoa, that's not what I meant" he sighed, shaking his head, "we're friends...we've got your back in this, dangerous or not."
Terri could tell he meant it, but he still felt a tinge of guilt, he didn't want them in danger at all. Howard took another bite of sandwich, moving over to stand beside him.
"We're like the three musketeers...only better" he said while chewing.
Randy chuckled, "yea...one for all and all for one right?"
Terri couldn't help but smile, giving a light nod of his head.
"We're in this together..."
