I am sorry it took me so long to update, but with a move across country, and getting settled, it's kind of taken up my time. Anyway, we have reached the end of this journey. I hope the rocky ride was worth it for you readers! Thank you for all the support on this story, even though it took me a while to get some chapters out! Enjoy!

Chapter 30

Paul would never admit it, but I knew he had missed our own bed. We had not been gone for very long, but it had been long enough to miss it. When we had arrived home, we slept for at least 12 hours, before waking up and going on a much needed pack run. Sam and Jacob had brought the packs together for that.

Wait...a wolf...mated to a dragon? Seth asked, his eyes big.

Yes. I replied, not giving him a chance to ask more.

His slightly smaller body wiggled in excitement. There was so much out there that he didn't understand. So much he wanted to know. I rumbled a laugh as we ran through the water, following a river. I liked it here. It was much more peaceful, and now that things were settled with the vampires, the wolves could go on protecting what really needed protecting.

Catching that, Jacob snorted at me as we all ran along. I bared my teeth in a grin, slowing down to allow the wolves to run ahead. One wolf slowed down to a trot beside me, and I rumbled a greeting. Paul wagged his tail and walked through the water with me.

Thank you. For going with me. I glanced at him, and his tail wagged in response.

His large body rubbed against mine, and we kept moving. As the pack kept running, we split off and headed home. We had a bonfire to get ready for. By the time we had arrived home, showered, and started cooking, Emily and a few others had come by to help.

My usually quiet home came alive with activity. Sue and Emily were preparing the meat, and Leah had come back to help with cleaning and setting up. Soon, Jacob and others came by to get the fire ready for tonight. As I prepared the snacks, which was mostly meat, a hand brushed along my back.

Glancing up, I looked to Paul and took in the contentment in his expression. He reached into the fridge and grabbed something to drink, his hand not leaving my back. When he came back, I leaned into him quietly.

"I am sorry," he rumbled suddenly. "For all the pain I had caused you..."

"Don't," I whispered, turning around to hug him. "All that matters is right now."

"I know, but I had to say it," he murmured, pressing a kiss to my shoulder.

"Well I'll take it, rare as it is," I teased and he grunted.

"You're so nice to me," he grumbled, and I laughed.

"Well you've run me dry, so get out," I grunted halfheartedly. "I need to finish what I'm doing."

A chuckle left his throat, a low sound that I truly enjoyed hearing. He pressed a kiss to my neck and slipped away, letting me finish preparing all the food. We set up tables outside and brought everything out just a bit later. By then, the fire was going and chairs were set up around it. Or logs, whichever the guys felt like bringing over.

I stood back watching both packs come together, grabbing food and laughing together. We were all from the same town, so most of them knew each other. However, sometimes it was difficult to bring packs together. Maybe we were different. I wouldn't mind that.

Jacob walked over to me, having just finished wolfing down a bunch of food with the others. It still irritated me that he was younger, and yet still so tall. He must have known what I was thinking, because a huge grin came across his face. Reaching out, he wrapped an arm around my shoulders, pulling me in for a hug.

"You're a good alpha," I said gently. "No matter your age. You were born for it."

"Thanks," he smiled. "I'm glad everything was able to work out."

"Me too," I hummed, leaning into him briefly.

"Now come on, come join us," he insisted, shoving me forward.

Grunting, I gave him a glare before walking out and joining the others at the fire. There was laughter, and just genuine happiness around the group. It was something that was infecting everyone. There wasn't a sour face in the group. Walking over to Paul, who was sitting beside Sam, I sat down beside him.

Looking over, Paul gave me a smile and pulled me onto his lap. I couldn't help but lean in comfortably against his body. His arms wrapped around me quietly and I hummed happily.

"I could get used to this," he mused.

"So could I," I replied.

After all the pain, and all the fighting, it was nice to be able to find peace. Everything had worked out the way it was supposed to be. The Cullens were happy and safe, and the packs were free to do what we did best, protect people from the real danger out there. Vampires who actually posed a threat to humans, and other beasts who would do the same.

Thinking that over, I sighed softly and let Paul shift us both so that we were comfortable. I chuckled and wrapped an arm around his neck. Emily smiled at me, and I gave her one back. Life was finally good. I was home, truly home.
