"What got me here? Here of all places..."

I tried to stand, but couldn't. My legs felt as stiff as gravel. I sniffed the air, seeing if it gave any sign of familiarity.

Nothing.

My vision has had better days. I could hear water dribbling off the walls of... wherever I am. I assumed it's a large ice cave. The temperature was just below freezing point it seemed.

It hurt.

My whole body hurt.

I shook my head slightly. It helped the ache in my head a little, but not much. I inhaled once more, icy air filtering out the dead feeling I've been feeling since I have awoken.

A question lingered.

'What brought me here?'

Surely I haven't gotten here on my own, have I?

My eyelids threatened to close on me. One word kept ringing in my head before my eyes won the battle, and closed.

Alpha.

:-:

Hiccup flew on Toothless with Astrid leading the way.

Trappers, although not impossible, didn't sous likely.

They... defeated Alvin.

There shouldn't be anymore trappers.

Yet it seemed possible.

Hiccup sighed. He'd need a good long swim after this one.

"Just a bit further!" Astrid shouted from ahead, the wind carrying her voice. "Look for a small patch of land surrounded by I've formations."

"Astrid, there's no guarantee they're trappers."

The blonde dragon trainer halted Stormfly, and turned to face him. "I know what I saw." She said, low and shaky.

Hiccup met her gaze. She seemed beyond petrified. He nodded slowly, and they continued on.

It wasn't long until they reached their destination.

:-:

"Ok. Be stealthy. You never know when the enemy decides to surprise you." Astrid lead Hiccup down a series of hills.

The islands' land looked small, but upon closer inspection with Astrids guidance, the land dipped down below ocean surface level.

It was cold.

They walked further and further down. Hiccup had to light a torch (with the help of Toothless of course) to go down further.

"How much deeper, Astrid?"

"Just a bit more... there!" She stopped abruptly, pointing to what looked to be large doors. Now... Hiccups' seen the doors to the villages' main hall before, and they were pretty big. However, these doors were... gargantuan compared to them. It left both dragon trainers wondering how in Otens beard did some one, or even a large group of people manage to build them? It made them ponder even more on what was past the doors.

Astrid turned around. "Here."

"I thought you said they attacked you in the air, and you flew back right after." Hiccup said, monotone. She chuckled nervously.

"I may have... sort of... lied to you." Astrid looked anywhere but Hiccups eyes. Said Cheif smirked.

"Well then, there is a punishment in order for fibbing the Chief." He said, a false look of concentration crossed his features. Astrid almost took him seriously, if it weren't for what happened next.

Hiccup slid behind her, his arms wrapping around her petite waist. Without warning, he attacked the back of her neck and right cheek with kisses. She kept her laughing at a low volume, fearful it may blow their cover.

He finally pulled away, kissing the back of her head as he did so.

"You idiot. You could have gave us away." She giggled, punching his arm playfully.

Hiccup smiled. "But I didn't, did I? Besides..." He paused, brushing off some dirt from his shoulder armor. "That's what you get for lying to your Chief." He smirked.

Astrid rolled her eyes.

:-:

They tried, tried, and tried again.

The doors wouldn't budge.

To make it worse, the small amount of light coming from above was fading. The cracking sound from the clouds didn't make it any better. Neither did the harsh wind.

"Looks like we camp here for the night." Hiccup sighed, plopping on the ground. "I know Stormfly has a bit of trouble seeing unlike toothless."

"You could just ride back you know." She said, getting the fire started with what little resources they had. Hiccup rolled his eyes, pulling her into a hug.

"And leave you? That's like asking Mildew to train a dragon!" Hiccup said playfully. "It's impossible."

Astrid smiled, sinking into the warm touch of his embrace. "Yeah. I'd like to see that." She laughed.

Hiccup simply laughed along.

It wasn't long until they were asleep in each other's arms.

:-:

Toothless sighed, enjoying the warmth of the fire. Stormfly turned her head and asked, "Do you miss him?"

Toothless shifted enough to look at her out of the corner of his eye. "Who?"

She smiled. "You know who."

Toothless blushed. "So... you heard."

"Of all the dragons around, I never thought you'd choose Cloudjumper."

"What's that supposed to mean?" He shifted so he could face her with both eyes. She giggled.

"He just seems like a stiff. I don't know..." She paused, looking at the large doors' details before turning back to her alpha. "I guess I expected you to mate with a dragon a bit more enthusiastic than Cloudjumper."

A defensive expression crossed the alphas' features. "Hey! Cloudjumper may seem that way, but he's actually... really..." He averted Stormflys' gaze. "... nice."

"How nice?" She smirked, raising an eyebrow ridge.

Toothless lowered his gaze, finding the ground more interesting than anything. "Just... Nice."

"You said that."

Toothless was beyond embarrassed now. "Keep your snout out of my relationship!"

Stormfly laughed. "Your one of my closest friends, Toothless! I just want to know."

Toothless groaned. It took him a while to spill. "He's just... he challenges me."

Her head cocked to the side. "What do you mean?"

"Well, when we... when we. You know..." He looked to the side, and back at Stormfly. Luckily, she got the message. "It's hard to explain. Although I'm alpha, he's an amazing second in line. His leadership skills... may well exceed my own at times. I don't know." He said, nervousness grazing his tone.

Stormfly laughed genuinely at that. "To think the alpha has a 'challenge' kink."

"I - I! You!"

Her laughing only got louder. "I didn't say it was anything to be ashamed of! But… gosh, I never would have guessed!"

Toothless snorted in annoyance. "Yeah, yeah. You had your laughs."

Stormfly quieted down and nodded, satisfied. She hummed in thought. "Does Hiccup know?"

"Not yet." Toothless mumbled, feeling tired all of a sudden. "I'll let him know sooner or later. Right now... right now..." He tried saying, fighting his heavy eyelids. "Right now, I just want to see where we go as mates." Toothless said with a yawn. His jaw lowered to the ground, eyes closed with the need for a long rest.

Stormfly smiled to herself before dozing off, happy for her alpha and dearest friend.
