I wriggled out of my shoes, throwing them outside messily.
Stepping into the house, I realized I was probably the first one to come home. There were no lights on, and I didn't see any shoes. Yusu-baka decided to stay late with his friends, I thought with distaste. He declined my offer to fight with him just so he could talk with his friends! Perhaps he was strategize ways to beat me. A smug look took over my face. That was why he randomly shouted "I won't lose!" in class. Oh poor, Yusuke, not in a million years will you win against me.
I walked to the living room. TV time for me, I guess homework will have to wait. I grabbed the remote next to the television, and threw my bag to the couch at the back without turning my head.
"Oof!"
I paused my clicking. I didn't know couches could talk.
"You're supposed to say sorry, idiot." A voice said from behind.
To be honest, I didn't know what it was. Perhaps it was the thriller movie I watched five days back, or the ghost documentary I watched three days ago, but I was suddenly very, very scared. My eyes remained fixed on the screen, but I shakily placed the remote back in place.
If I didn't say anything, maybe the ghost would go away. That was how it worked... right?
"Oi! Are you deaf too?"
Now that was one hell of a rude ghost.
My legs remained frozen on the spot. My hands started to sweat, and that was probably the first time I realized I had an unhealthy fear for supernatural things. I heard some shuffling behind me, and I shut my eyes tightly, praying that the ghost had decided to leave and bother someone else. A hand suddenly shot out and grabbed my shoulder. That was when I lost it.
I swung my right arm around, my fist in forcefully in contact with a face.
A face. And a very warm one too.
I stared at the wavy brown haired boy now groaning on the floor. So if I can feel this boy's face, and he has normal body temperature, he's not a ghost?
So... no ghost? I breathed out a relieved sigh, before letting out a hearty laugh. I need to keep my paranoia in check.
"What the hell are you laughing at? Do you know how precious this face is? I'm an idol! They pay to see this masterpiece of art called my face!" The boy said angrily, though he wasn't shouting. He was probably Fuuto, the spoiled brat, I quote Yusuke.
Expectedly, if I had any guilt before, it disappeared into thin air.
"Well, it's not exactly my fault! I thought you were a gh-," I stopped myself. He didn't need to know that.
"A what?" He questioned, a confused look on his face. "I'm not definitely not a thief, because I live here. You, meanwhile, are just someone else's girlfriend who needs to learn about your boyfriend's family tree."
My eyes twitched. "Firstly, I live here too. Secondly, I don't have a boyfriend. Thirdly," I paused. What else should I say? "You're a jerk."
"So you're the one who's going to be my sister? You don't even look like a girl, and you've got a mean right hook. Are you sure you're not a boy?"
I gave him a pleased look. "Why thank you for the compliment."
He stared at me for a long moment.
"You'd better have a good reason for hitting me, or else.." He threatened.
"Or else what?" I asked, a devilish grin on my face.
There was a brief silence. He stared at me, before taking a look around the house.
The eerie atmosphere seemed to give him some kind of an idea.
He turned to look at me, an evil smile, similar to my own, appeared on his face.
"So you're scared of ghosts, eh?"
My eyes widened. "W-What? No!" I spluttered. How on earth did he find out? Was he some kind of a mind reader?
He slowly got up on his feet.
"Don't worry, scaredy cat. Your secret's safe with me." He started to make his way to stairs.
"I take that back. I'm going to use it as a blackmail." He said with a cheesy grin. "Have a nice day in this haunted house, scaredy cat sis."
I stared at his back as he walked to the elevator, dumbfounded. That encounter did not turn out well at all. I could see why Yusuke didn't like him.
My eyes groggily opened. Seems as if my afternoon nap time was over. I looked at my watch. 5pm. Ah, the others should be back by now. I stared at my schoolbag next to my study table. It could wait for a few more hours.
Jumping out of my bed, I walked to the kitchen, where the lights were on. My eyes brightened as I saw a blonde in red shirt.
"Ukyo-sama! Welcome back home!" I greeted.
Ukyo had a weird look on his face as he stared at me, and I immediately felt self conscious. I didn't wear my dad's clothes right?
I stared downwards. Nope. Still in my uniform.
Ukyo gave a nervous laugh. "Sorry for being weird. It's just that I haven't heard 'welcome home' for a while now."
So that was why.
Ukyo continued. "So I take it you've met Fuuto?" Oh, you have no idea. "But he wouldn't be here tomorrow because of his work."
I inwardly grinned.
"Tomorrow is Subaru's birthday," Ukyo said.
I slowly nodded. My favourite brother's birthday, but I didn't know of it until now. I'm such a horrible sister. "Will there be a birthday party?"
"Yes," he answered. "Though we don't have a birthday cake."
"I can go buy it!" I volunteered.
The blonde gave me a look. "You can't bake?"
I returned the look. "Do I look like I can?"
He gave a nervous laugh. "Sorry. But that will do. I don't know how to bake either."
"So I'll go buy tomorrow before the party, is that alright?"
"Yes! Thanks Kyo-chan."
I was about to leave, before a hand rested on my head. I stared at Ukyo, mildly surprised.
He gave a small grin. "Nice hair."
I gaped, my mouth opened like a fish out of water.
I forgot to comb my hair after my nap!
So yeah! Another chapter!
I had a lot of fun writing Fuuto though XD
Hope you guys enjoyed it
