A/N: Sorry about the long wait. School started and kind of slowed down the process. Here's chapter 5, hope you enjoy!
Alison was sitting in the recently installed gazebo in her backyard, watching Hanna lay out on her yoga mat in front of her. Hanna had insisted on doing her yoga there, she wouldn't have it any other way; it was like a ritual for her, and if Alison said no it might as well be the end of their friendship.
"I know you can't go more than two days without doing your yoga, but is it necessary that you do it right here?" Alison said with a hint of annoyance in her voice. "It's kind of in the way."
"You know I have dance classes every Tuesday, Alison. I don't have time to do this any other time today and I just happened to be here at this time." Hanna paused to bring her right foot above her head to stretch it out. "Besides, this gazebo is an awesome place for yoga."
"Whatever. Just don't expect to be here for all of your sessions." Alison huffed out while crossing her arms over her chest.
"You should join me one of these days, Alison, it would be good for you."
Alison looked at the girl on the floor with a blank expression, her brows slightly furrowed. "What are you trying to say? That I need to relax?" She clearly felt offended by the suggestion from her friend.
"What? No, Alison. All I'm saying is that I think you would enjoy it."
"Whatever. When will you be done your yoga anyways? You've been here for an hour already. Time's up." Alison said, eager to leave.
"Right now." She huffed out, clearly irritated with how pushy her friend was being.
Hanna rolled up her yoga mat and sternly walked out of the gazebo straight to her car.
"Really, Hanna?" Alison said holding an arm up in her friend's direction, waiting for an explanation.
She took one last glance at Alison before shuffling into her car and pulling out of the driveway. Alison stood baffled with her arm still up and her mouth now slightly open. 'What the fuck, Hanna' she thought to herself.
The blonde was taken aback by the vibration in her pocket from her phone. She took it out expecting it be Hanna trying to apologize or something.
1 new message from E
E: Hey Ali. This is, like, really cool (: And my name is Emily. I feel so connected to you now.
Alison was smiling from ear-to-ear when she read the message from her pen pal. It took her the whole night to reply, but she didn't care, she was just too frantic about answering the message. She walked over to the gazebo again, and sat down. She quickly typed out a reply.
A: That's a pretty name. I'm totally happy we exchanged numbers though, snail mail sucks.
'Emily' she thought. That's the name of the lifeguard that kicked Hanna out of the country club at the beginning of summer. Alison thought nothing of the comparison, for she was too enticed by another vibration from her phone.
E: It does suck. And I don't even like writing that much, it hurts sometimes. At least the next time I want to tell you something I don't have to wait a week to just forget what I was going to say anyways.
A: That's true. Anything you have to say now before you forget?
E: Not now. What about you, Ali?
Emily read over her message before sending it.
E: Not now. What about you, Ali?
She hoped it wasn't too weird. They only just started messaging, but then again they told each other a lot of things in the letters. Emily opened up to Alison after a few letters and told her about how she came out to her parents. Alison responded with great support. From then on, Emily knew that she was close with this girl, and that she could share stuff with her that she doesn't always share with other people. It warmed her heart to know how genuinely kind some people are.
Emily's thoughts were interrupted by the chime of her phone.
A: Honestly, my friend Hanna was being really grumpy this morning. I let her do her yoga poses in my gazebo, but I guess I made her mad because she left without a word. She also managed to get kicked out of a place for flirting with one of the employees. She's so irritating sometimes.
Something clicked in Emily's head. She knew a Hanna and Alison. They were practically attached by the hip at her school. She also knew how Hanna was always trying to get in all the guys pants. She decided that it was impossible that this could be the Alison DiLaurentis that was speaking to, after all her pen pal was supposedly from a different country. She kept her reply short and hit send.
E: Maybe she isn't a great friend?
A: It's not that she isn't a good friend. Sometimes she just doesn't think before she acts and gets herself into situations that I have resolve for her.
E: I know what you're saying. I know someone like that, flirts with all the guys, gets heart broken and goes to her best friend for a shoulder to lean on.
A: That's exactly Hanna! Thank you, Emily, for finally understanding my struggle. I love her, but she's not the smartest. And literally, every last guy at our school can probably say that they've been hit on by her.
Emily was becoming more and more suspicious about how coincidental this situation was turning out to be. Surely there's another Hanna somewhere who pines over all the guys, and an Alison who has to pick her up on her feet again. She just couldn't stop correlating her pen pal and her friend with the two she knows at her school. Emily typed out her reply, but hesitantly hit send.
E: That's weird actually, I know a Hanna who is exactly like that. She is alike in every way you explained. Like the pining over guys, getting herself into bad situations, getting kicked out of a place.
A: Hm. She wouldn't happen to have a best friend name Alison, would she? (;
Emily panicked. She knew she was talking to Alison DiLaurentis. No doubt. It was too coincidental to not be her.
E: No, not that I know of. Wouldn't that be weird?
