Zoe sat on her bed, staring outside at the myriad ships flying around hastily repairing the damaged Chorian Headquarters.
What's the best way to get to Percy? Zoe rummaged through her brain. I can't go looking for him, of course, he's probably deep in Nyx's domain. So how can I contact him?
Zoe was still sitting on her bed trying to figure a method of contacting him when someone knocked on her door.
"Come in."
The door swung open, and in walked Qera.
"Commander Qera, is there something you need?" Zoe asked. The relationship between the two had always been nothing more than business - two colleagues who would trust each other to guard their backs, but not friends. Qera seemed to be considering her in her eyes.
"No, but there is something that I think you would want to know."
Zoe raised an eyebrow. "What is it?"
"Well, Lord Chaos told me about his tasking you to find this Percy Jackson," Qera began. "And I think I know just the way for you to do it."
On board a Nyx Faction Galaxy-Class Warship along the border between Nyx and Chaos:
In the main hall of the warship, Percy stood on the balcony overlooking the room. His eyes were not the normal black and purple that his soldiers were used to seeing from him. Instead, they were a intense, burning crimson. Percy looked at the 78 Kadashi assassins kneeling in front of him.
"Today, we lost many of our brothers and sisters." Percy stated. The Kadashi in front of him had no reaction. Percy paused. "I know that normally I do not allow you to show any emotion. But today, too many of our friends have died. You do not need to hide your emotions today."
Percy abruptly turned around and walked away from the balcony, disappearing from the view of the Kadashi below.
At first, there was pure silence in the main hall, save the soft growling of the torches on either side of the room. A few minutes later, though, the youngest of the Kadashi could be heard sniffling as he tried to suppress his tears. As those around him heard this, they broke from their reserves and began openly grieving for their loss.
Percy was in a dark passageway, leaning against the wall. His arms were folded across his chest, and anyone who looked at his eyes could tell that he was deep in thought. He thought back to the battle that he had had with Chaos.
During the fight, it had seemed as if Chaos was very familiar with his fighting style. It was almost as if they had crossed blades many, many times. However, Percy couldn't recall ever having fought the primordial before. This was the first time Nyx had sent on a mission where he would directly attack Chaos.
As Percy continued contemplating in his mind, he suddenly remembered that there was a gap in his memory. It wasn't a small gap - it was a massive one. I don't remember anything before my service to Nyx...
Percy shrugged. If those memories were gone, it was probably for the better.
A soft patter on the obsidian ground of the passageway could be heard, and Percy turned towards the sound, his left dropping to the hilt of his blade. As the sound became louder, Percy could make out the figure of one of his Kadashi running towards him, and he relaxed.
"Commander! Nyx has requested that you report to her." The Kadashi bowed her head. Percy sighed. He hated reports.
"Understood," he replied. "Dismissed." He then proceeded to walk towards the main control room of the ship.
Upon entering the room, Percy found it empty. As expected. All of Nyx's ships ran on auto-pilot, one sophisticated enough to do battle with extreme efficiency.
"Greetings, Champion." The ship's artificial intelligence interface appeared in front of Percy. "What can I do for you?"
"Give me a direct channel to Lady Nyx." Percy instructed.
"As you wish. Connecting..." The artificial intelligence spun in a circle for a few moments before projecting a hologram onto the ground. Percy immediately knelt, recognizing Nyx in her child form. Nyx looked about eight-years old, with incredibly jet black hair, but her eyes, a swirling mix of purple and black, were timeless.
"My Lady." Percy said.
"Get up." Nyx commanded, and Percy obeyed. "How did the mission go?"
Percy hesitated.
"I failed you, my lady. I was unable to kill Chaos as you instructed. Forgive me." Percy lowered his eyes as his said this.
Nyx laughed.
"Not at all, my champion. This wasn't a mission that you could have accomplished. Only I have the ability to kill Chaos."
Percy looked at her image, confused.
"Then why did you send me to kill him?"
Nyx smiled. "It'll throw him off. After you served -" She stopped.
"After I served...?" Percy said, with a questioning tone.
"Never mind that." Nyx snapped. "Return to the main system and meet up with the other commanders at the planet Gyreth."
Percy knelt again as the hologram disappeared.
"Plan a course for Gyreth." Percy told the artificial intelligence before he walked out of the control room. What was Nyx about to say? He wondered to himself.
Suddenly, he felt an intruding presence in his head.
Percy? Are you there? Percy stopped in his tracks.
Who are you? What are you doing in my mind? Percy quickly created mental blocks in his brain, preventing the intruder from searching through his mind.
I'm someone who cares about you. You need help.
Percy snorted. I don't need anyone's help. I'm severing this connection. If you ever contact me again, I will find you and kill you.
Wait, don't - The intruder was cut off as Percy lashed out with his mind. Feeling that the intruder was gone from his mind, Percy walked towards his chambers, satisfied.
Main Chorian HQ Amplification Chamber:
Zoe's mind reeled as she felt Percy mentally attack her. It felt as if a log had been swung at her head. She stumbled across the chamber, trying to find something to hold on to. When she couldn't find one, she fell to the ground.
Qera ran over to her.
"What happened? Are you okay?" She asked.
Zoe nodded sluggishly.
"Give me... a few minutes." She said.
Qera nodded before signaling to a few of the guards in the room, who moved forward to grab Zoe's arms and lift her.
"Bring her back to her chambers to rest," She ordered. After the guards left, she contacted Aethen mentally. Aethen, I need your help with something.
