Hello!

I'm confused. Not posting=favorites and reviews. Posting a chapter=less favourites and more followers? You like me better when I am silent? Fine. Thank you to all the new followers and reviews. I'm glad you like it.

Now…this chapter is angry at the beginning and mushy in the end. Hopefully not too OOC. I grew a bit more flesh on the mystery of Thranduil's ex and Lena and kingy's past relations- just tiny snippets. You get some action and info on the lightstick situation. A blast from the past. Go cry.

I just made some shit up.

Please review and something somethin'.

A bit of a sneaky peek in the end- on what to expect next.

This is not home

Lena stood in the vast library, waiting for Naurion by the writing table, he had went to fetch something.

She did not mean to spy, but idly looking down she noticed a letter sloppily put under a pile of books, Naurion had just grabbed these books when Lena entered and then set them down hurriedly on the table. Maybe it was a coincidence. Surely, it must have been?

Deciding to take a risk, she slowly pulled out the letter. She recognised the wax seal immediately. Mareth. Taking the letter she stepped between the shelves to read it. What she was doing felt wrong and she didn't want to be caught.

"Dear brother,

I hope you are in good health. I am doing better since it left the palace, my bruises have healed and my spirit feels lighter. It feels like a dark shadow has be lifted from the palace, even king Thranduil is in good spirits and we have conversed more often.

By now I know you have spoken to it at length, do not let yourself be fooled by its form nor words. It is malicious, but for the sake of our family sacrifices have to be made. Mother would be proud of us.

I hope you are following my plan, winning its trust is instrumental. Court it if you must, but do not sully our bloodline. Make it love you and then break its heart, but do not anger it outright. It is dangerous as you know by my experience, its lies can harm you as much as its ability.

Please do write, your words bring hope to me.

With love,

always

Your dear sister."

Lena let out the breath she was holding, it felt like a punch in the stomach. Just breathe. He had lied.

"Fucking motherfucker." Lena swore under her breath.

"Selene?" she heard his voice call out.

Breathe. Wiping her eyes, she realized she was crying.

"Lena, what happened?" Naurion had found her, he reached out to touch her.

"Don't touch me." She lashed out. "I found this. I read it." Betryal hurt the worst.

Naurion's hands dropped to his side.

"Don't bother lying to me. You manipulated me…and…why? What have I done to you? Ever?"

"You tried to kill my sister!" Naurion yelled at her.

"No, I didn't- I was trying to defend myself. She attacked me, what was I supposed to do? I've never tried to harm anyone." Lena defended herself.

"You have made her life miserable." Naurion tried to grab the letter from her hands, Lena yanked her hand away. "Ruined our lives."

"How? How did I manage to ruin your stupid life you dumb fuck? This…will stay in my hands." She took the letter and stepped away.

"No!" Naurion made to twist her arm.

"Stop! Please, let me go! You are hurting me!" History repeated itself with the other sibling. The light got violently bright and suddenly Naurion jumped away clutching his hand.

"You burned me." There were blisters in his palm. "Lord Elrond! Please help!" Naurion called out seeing lord Elrond.

"I have seen enough." Lord Elrond said sternly. "You will not speak to her or of her ever again, you won't see her nor touch her, is it clear? Hand me the letter and have your hand looked at."

"I didn't do it on purpose. He didn't listen. I told him to stop." Elrond laid a gentle hand on her shoulder and led her away.

-…-…-…-

Lady Galadriel had gone to study Naurion's hand after the word of what happened reached her. Her kind was strong and it took great force to break skin enough to pull blood or…burn it. Elves healed fast, but to her eyes even the remaining blisters looked bad.

Lord Elrond had presented her with the letter. It. Referring to kin as it was a grave insult. Galadriel and Elrond were both aware of the ambitions of the pair, which came from their mother. She thought herself to be deserving enough to rule and if she didn't get a throne- her children would. Of course she had sailed West, leaving her children carry out their 'birthright'. Lord Elrond remembered when Mareth left for Greenwood, trying to tie herself to king Thranduil, due to the situation with his…former wife.

An elven divorce was unheard of, the customs declared them married, Thranduil had taken the position of queen from her hands and even more…she had left. Lord Elrond never knew Elisenna to be the kind, who would just give up and leave. Elisenna was prideful, so when she and Lady Galadriel met for the first and last time, he learned just how vengeful an elleth could be. Thranduil's own explanation on the matter was short, she had done something and he couldn't allow it to happen again. After that some among their kind viewed Thranduil in a bad manner, others rejoiced- because he was an eligible bachelor. Lady Mareth being the former, trying to realize her strange plan.

-…-…-…-

"Lady Selene." Lady Galadriel entered her room, Arwen looked quizzically at her grandmother.

"I don't think this is the best time." Arwen spoke carefully.

"Let her, she is going to do it anyway. Just warning, I am not in a good mood." Lena spoke, sitting up on her bed.

"I saw Naurion. He is unwell." Lena was unmoved by that information.

"Good." Lena deadpanned. "He deserves to be that way. Hopefully it's really painful."

"Have your abilities manifested in such a way before?" she asked.

"You mean when I threw lady Mareth into a wall? Then yes. Didn't burn her though…should have. A regretfully missed opportunity."

"Could you repeat that?" 'I wish I could', Lena thought.

"Probably, but not on purpose."

"Your kind is dangerous." Lady Galadriel said. "Dangerous and secretive, that's what has led to this."

"My kind?" Lena's brow rose. "Exactly what is wrong with my kind?"

"I mean that my kind here acts differently than yours who have remained in darkness."

'Bitch, this is some age old shit' Lena thought. "Do you really want to continue this with me right now?"

"This is the exact behaviour I am talking about. Silvan elves." Lady Galadriel sighed as if she wasn't being the one being an ass.

"My kind there has to deal with spiders and all sorts of deadly nasty things that do not roam your lands. Instead those creatures die before they even reach your lands. My kind of elves have kept a tight leash on those foul creatures. So yes, my kind is more dangerous and it would be wise of you to remember that, next time you speak."

Lady Galadriel realized after that- Selene wasn't someone, who you'd want as an enemy. Arwen was silent and wide-eyed after that exchange.

Lena then looked down at her hands, she was shining like a glow-stick. Taking a deep breath, she smiled and said pleasantly. "Is there anything else you wish to discuss?"

"May I join your lesson with lord Elrond?" Lady Galadriel uncharacteristically asked.

"I'll think about it."

-…-…-…-

Selene was happy to put that incident behind her, Lady Galadriel left satisfied to see her not kill anyone, but there had been a slight mishap.

Lord Elrond had been calm himself through all of it, since he had orchestrated the whole thing.

Elladan had come to watch her too and act as a decoy, so when Elladan had taken all of Selene's attention with his questions.

Elrohir sneaked up to Selene then suddenly grabbed her.

Selene had jumped from fright and then next moment a bright flash of light and Elrohir was thrown across the room. Selene of course had a heart attack, thinking she had accidentally killed Elrohir.

Instead she heard Elrohir's loud laugh and a question.

"That was fun, can you do it again?"

Lady Galadriel had looked at her grandchild as if he was insane.

From that day on Elrohir tried to scare Lena enough for her to throw him across the room.

Selene had commented it to Arwen. "Something is truly wrong with your brother."

Arwen had agreed.

-…-…-…-

It was years later when she got an unexpected visitor. Seeing merchants in Rivendell wasn't a rare sight, but someone in particular was.

"Lady Selene!" she heard an older woman call her name.

Looking over the marketplace she noticed the woman, her eyes were so familiar, but she didn't know any old ladies. Being curious Lena made her way over.

"I haven't seen you in such a long time. I must look like an old crone." The woman explained.

"Astrid? I. Wow…has it been so long?" Lena hugged her.

"Lauriel, my eldest is now 42 years old. Her son is with me." Last time she saw Lauriel, she was a few weeks old. "Robin?" she called out.

"Grandmother…" the young man ran to them. "Ahemm…lady elf." He looked away, a bit flustered.

"This is Selene." Astrid explained. A look of recognition passed over his face.

"You're her? Grandma speaks of you all the time." Robin bowed. "I never believed it, elves are really secretive, especially king Thranduil's…and…whoa…you're really beautiful."

Lena noticed that over time when humans met her they got weird about it, some staring at her others getting shy and a few tried to hit on her.

"Robin." Astrid chastised.

"Lady. Elf. I mean ma'am." Robin said, Lena started laughing, she had never been called ma'am.

"He gets nervous." Astrid explained.

"I can see." Lena watched him leave with a heavy crate. "You brought wine?"

"Yes. The king made sure that I went to a good home. I married the brother of the merchant, who took me to Dorwinion."

"What brought you here?" Lena asked.

"I wanted to see the world one last time. Travel a bit. I've gotten old, so before they get to burying me I decided to come see what all the fuss is about."

"Is it all it's made up to be?"

"It is."

Later Lena took them to dinner in Lord Elrond's residence. Elladan and Elrohir found humans to be interesting, hitting on Astrid for some reason and pulling Robin with them after dinner. Lena of course showed Astrid the best view that Rivendell had.

"Will you be staying here for long?" Astrid asked.

"I don't know. I should go back…I miss Greenwood. It's different here." She missed home.

"Still beautiful…like you. Forever youthful."

"It's strange. Seeing you now. Doesn't feel like it has been this long." Lena sounded old.

"I don't feel as old as I look…nor did time go by slowly for me. After Lauriel's second birthday I got married. Had two sons, William and Scott, and they grew up so fast…and now I am here, but all good things must come to an end." Astrid sighed. "I wrote to king Thranduil and soon a messenger informed me that you are in Rivendell…I came here to see you and say thank you. Without you…I wouldn't have this." Lena had started to tear up and was close to crying.

"You're making me cry. Look at us. Two old ladies. Crying." Lena laughed through the tears.

A few days later Selene unbeknownst to her said her last goodbye to Astrid as she sent her back on her way to Dorwinion.

-…-…-…-

Thranduil sat down with his wine, this letter from Lord Elrond was…mindboggling. He had sat several minutes in stunned silence looking at the fire. Lord Elrond had figured out Selene, exactly why she was called Lightbearer.

It went back to the day of her death on the other Earth and her finding the cache of gems. They were so rare, it was thought to be a myth. Illuvatar gems. The few stories about gems were considered folklore among elves themselves. The gem itself chooses who it will serve, the fact that you fight with light says that it only serves pure souls. Lord Elrond had theorized at that point it could have been new-borns or in Selene's case reborn souls. The Illuvatar left gems that had captured starlight and gems that carried much stronger light. Something akin to the sunlight that melted the snow in spring. Everlasting and unchanging was the light, Selene however…if she ever returned, he didn't even know how to handle it. Lord Elrond said Selene herself had taken the news well, she had connected the dots in the first place.

"I'm proud of Selene, over the course of her time here she has matured. Arwen is almost inseparable from her and while Selene picked up lessons in courtly etiquette from her, Arwen is much more independent and dares saying 'no' even to her grandmother.

I have passed all the knowledge I have to give and she has been an eager student. Selene in my opinion is ready to return, but that decision is hers to make. I believe that she is destined for greatness and whatever she chooses, it will be done well."

Thranduil hadn't expected lord Elrond's letters to contain so much about Selene, since the first one, he only asked to know if she was well and an answer to the question…that was her, not to hear about her soaking Elrond's sons or swordfighting with Arwen. Thranduil was aware that Landmir got letters from her time to time, which was meant to her circle of friends and a few trinkets.

Thranduil did not miss her…but he did note the lack of her presence.

It had been little things at first, like guard reports- that usually contained something about her doings in the forest or using the guards as workhorses.

Her voice, he could always hear her somewhere around the palace.

The lack of the scent of violets…

Or the portrait that she had drawn of him when she was mad…with the little horns…he had found it one of the drawers. He didn't remember keeping it.

The lack of her presence came to mind one day, when he was working behind his desk. Selene had a habit to come in uninvited when she came with papers from Landmir. Sitting halfway on his table asking him what he was doing, the first time she had done that…he was stunned- no elf, ever, sat on his desk that was cluttered with papers and asked him…what he was doing. He had just stared at her in silence, which prompted her ask him, if he was unwell and touch his forehead to check for fever. After his long silence, she sent Landmir, just in case. The words were: 'I think I broke him.'

Mostly, it was that her presence lacked pretence, she didn't want anything, council members wanted some favour or their opinion in some matter to be heard. Lady Mareth just wanted to been seen with him and Selene just came in and sat down on his desk at times bringing a plate of food with her.

The food changed, sometimes it was fresh fruit she had sliced into pieces and offered him a piece and then walked off with it. No elf in his kingdom walked around with a plate of food randomly offering it to others. Expect for her. Selene had said, that she got peckish.

One time it had been cookies, which she had made. She then had put the plate right under his nose and said: 'Try! Honestly I didn't poison them. I'd never poison food. I just made these. Just try one?" she had held a cookie to his mouth. This resulted again in stunned silence in his part, he thought her to be insane and she had sent Landmir to check on his health again.

Once it was late in the evening, Landmir had been late with his thick accounts book when she came in, managing to elude his guards and Galion yet again. How did she do it?

'Do you live at this desk?' Lena asked, looking curiously at him.

'No.' Thranduil said, looking up from a pile of guard reports.

'I worry about you.' Those words made him pause his work. He wasn't a person who was worried about, Selene herself was more of a worry. 'What do you do for fun?'

Wine- was the answer to that question he had discovered. Shaking his head from theses funny thought he was having, Thranduil returned to his desk.

Oh, yes. I finished another chapter, what do you think comes next? Should I send her back?

How would anyone react to her return? Would lady Mareth flip her sh*t?

Anyway a few spoilers- you have blood to look forward to, Selene will be crippled for a while, a little bit of tenderness from King and then we will see Elisenna in her full glory, a chase through the forest during a party and then…I'll figure out what to do with Elisenna? Should I start killing characters?

A little snippet from the future. „I don't trust you. You changed too much." Thranduil will say it, but to who?

ALSO, I should find a cover image, but I am not artistically inclined. :(
