Sorry for the long wait! I was working on my other story, Sleepless Shadows. I'm going on another Hiatus for this story... Trying to finish things with important deadlines. Well, anyways, here's the next chapter! Sorry this took a while, I planned to have this chapter up long ago but I've been busy with my other story. I will be finishing this story, but I don't know when. It might take me quite a while, considering I'm only at the fourth phase of the hunter exams of Sleepless Shadows and I plan on finishing it before working on anything else.
Okamirei spun around, using her Nen to propel herself at the troupe. The cape flew off, and she summoned the White Wolf. Her eyesight instantly got better, and she could see everything as if the lights weren't even off.
She snapped her jaws at the phantom troupe, making sure her head was also near Killua and Gon. Killua almost landed a punch on her, then realized she wasn't a phantom troupe member, and switched targets. Okamirei snorted in annoyance, then continued to claw at her opponents. It was dangerous. She was too big to fit in here, but she was managing. She just had to get Killua and Gon out.
But they were still fighting, instead of escaping.
Okamirei felt a kick on her leg and swiped at whoever had done it, then spun around to face Killua. They could see. They had caught Gon and Killua once again, and Okamirei was stuck there. Bullets, why didn't they hop on me so we could run?!
There was silence as the phantom troupe members who didn't have their hands full faced Okamirei. She snarled at them, then backed up. She saw a knife land, aimed at them, in the wall, pausing the man who was speaking, holding Gon. Killua was held as well, unable to move.
"It came from the entrance?"
"The guy with the radio was working with them," one of the girls wielding a vacuum cleaner stated.
"Forget that!" The man holding Gon said. "We only need these two."
"But it looks like he might be the one to do with this... Wolf. Will it continue to attack?"
"Maybe. Machi, tie it up." Machi held Killua tight as she moved a finger towards Okamirei, who, not really wanting to be tied up, backed up further, hitting the wall, then laid down, placing her head between her hands. The one-she-decided-she-didn't-like-named-Machi stopped her advances as the glasses girl spoke again.
"Wait, where's the boss?" Everyone looked around.
"The boss is gone... Shizuku, hold this guy for me." Okamirei kept her gaze on all of them, but kept the majority of her attention on the girl named Machi. She did not want to be tied up. She did not like the feeling, or the notion. And if she insisted, well, let's just say it wouldn't end well.
She kept a lot of her attention on the boys as well, but made sure to keep her ears out to listen in on the conversations. She had long ago memorized the names, faces, scents, and anything else she managed to get from the Phantom Troupe, and made sure to relay to the two boys everything would be fine. Unfortunately, it only came out as a whine and a snort, then a sneeze. And Killua couldn't understand wolf. Gon most likely wouldn't understand either, but he got the gist of it and turned to Killua, saying everything would be alright.
At least the troupe had calmed down and weren't focused on her anymore, but still...
"Paku, are you OK?"
"He broke my left hand and a molar. We underestimated them. Anyway, this is going to shock you, but these kids and wolf are-" Okamirei started to growl and her muscles tensed.
"Wait!" The so called 'topknot' guy by Killua said quickly. He glanced at Okamirei for a second, then back at the memory girl. "Pakunoda, this is for you." Pakunoda took the note. She stared at it. Okamirei could tell she was lost in thought, and she could smell the anxiety seeping from her. "Paku." Sweat was beading down the girl's face. Okamirei knew. If this girl spoke, Okamirei could easily send a message to them by howling, and even if that didn't work, there was always Melody. "Paku!" The girl flinched, then looked up at the man. "Don't say a word. Got it?" Pakunoda nodded, then stared at the wolf. She turned away quickly, looking back at the floor. "Machi, focus on your threads. I'll take him from you. Then you can tie up the wolf."
"Don't." Everyone looked at Pakunoda. "Don't tie up the wolf." Machi sighed, then nodded, a silent understanding between them all.
"Since he left us a message, he'll contact us again. Until then, these kids are valuable hostages." Machi handed Killua over to the man. Okamirei shifted, earing glances, but when she didn't send any threatening notions, they left her alone.
Okamirei was only there to make sure Killua and Gon didn't get hurt. She was there for surveillance, and only surveillance. Kurapika had made that very clear. She was not to get hurt, or injured, and if anything happened, get out of there immediately.
"Paku. Don't worry about it too much. Just keep your mouth shut." Right then, the lights turned back on. Okamirei stood, then shook her fur out, letting bits of water still stuck on her skin fall off. She immediately followed with a stretch, then laid back down. The man was on his phone, most likely speaking with another member.
"Phinks! Hurry over, the boss has been captured!"
The door to the hotel opened, revealing three people Okamirei recognized. All three were male.
"Explain." The one in the center said.
"The lights went out. The boss was taken in that instant." Was the reply. The tall intimidating man glanced at Okamirei, who just folded her ears back and flared her nose. Squirrel-mutt. She was to keep quiet. But that didn't mean she could insult them all in wolf. "Here's the message from the chain user."
"Why didn't you go after him immediately?" The man said. "And why isn't that wolf tied up or something? Isn't it an enemy?"
"As long as it isn't messed with, or we don't harm the two boys, it won't move. And Machi and Paku were injured." The man Okamirei decided on calling sword-guy replied.
"So?" Creepy-skull-dude said.
"He has allies who are pro hunters."
"So?" Creepy-short-skull-dude repeated.
"Read between the lines!" Sword-dude yelled. "It proves that we can use these kids as hostages! And that wolf isn't doing anything, so-"
"It's not doing anything because these kids being hostages doesn't have any mass effect on the chain user," Okamirei started to chew on her paw in frustration. These guys were good. "It's probably just here to keep an eye on them."
"But still! If we give chase and let them escape it's all over! The boss has probably been captured by those chains Uvo couldn't break. It'll be difficult for him to escape on his own." Okamirei's ears twitched. Kurapika should be calling any minute now...
"Probably?" Stone faced man asked.
"The lights went out! By the time our eyes adjusted, the boss was gone. We weren't in any condition to move."
"OK, we can assign blame later," the shorter, younger looking kid said, waving his hands. "For now, we need a plan."
"That wolf is probably listening on our conversation and sending it to its user," the girl with the vacuum said. Everyone turned to Okamirei, who just blinked at them. "It is probably a specialist technique."
"Should we do something about it?"
"I don't know. We can't really speak in private with it there." Okamirei started to chuckle a wolfy laugh, earning looks from the Phantom Troupe. She snorted. Idiots...
"Who cares! Let's just figure out what to do!" Just then, the phone rang.
Okamirei followed after the group. They had started to the hideout, and she was to follow. Kurapika had made contact through the phone, and, after a lot of threats and agreements, they had decided to go to the hideout. Their theory of her being able to send what was happening was also disproved, as Kurapika had not known what was happening there. Killua kept glancing at Okamirei, who continued to huff in annoyance. She could keep the White Wolf up for a day flat. As long as she didn't do anything too strenuous, she'd be fine. They'd just better hurry...
They finally reached the hideout. Okamirei trotted over to a nice, spacious area and sat. The few members that were there gave her weird looks, except Hisoka, who gave everyone weird looks. Okamirei just daintily yawned, then waited for this confusing and quite frustrating affair to be over.
Shouting and yelling caused Okamirei to hold down her ears with her paws. Humans were so loud... But what could she do? They were stronger than her. She knew that.
Her mind turned to Kirin. Was the kid alright? She was only now almost a month old. And after this adventure with Gon and her mate, would they settle down? She nodded her head to herself. Yes. On whale Island. She, Killua, Kirin, and any other kids they have will grow up there, playing and living out their lives as strong members of the Alpha Pack Colony.
She let out a sigh, then lifted her head as Gon and her mate caught her attention as they stood, breaking the chains.
Alright, sorry guys. I finished this chapter long ago, but I wanted to make it longer before posting it but I never did. So I decided what the heck and left it as it is, and now I've posted it.
Again, THIS STORY IS ON HIATUS. SO I'M NOT WRITING ANYMORE OF IT FOR A LONG TIME.
I apologize for the inconvenience.
Lol, I mean I'm sorry, and I'll try to get back to it when I can, but at this rate, it'll take like a year or two. I'm really sorry.
BUT I HAVEN'T LOST INSPIRATION OR THE WILL TO WRITE IT! I WILL GET TO IT! It'll just take a while.
Again, I'm really, very sorry.
