"He will pull through it. I'm sure," Kaito declared to Rio as they leaned on the rooftop that overlooked the city.
Rio sighed and lowered her head. "I know...But I can't help but worry. You what I'm saying, Kaito?"
Kaito nodded. "I do. More than what you think. When Haruto became sick, I panicked and used every measure I had within my grasp to save him."
"Ryouga is currently lying in a hospital bed, and I can't do anything about it. You could at least do something about your brother's condition."
Kaito narrowed his eyes and stared at her hung head for a moment before he looked down to the blinding city. "You're wrong. I did not know how to cure him, so I had to listen to Faker and Heartland. I had no other choice."
"Technically, you did, but you decided that they knew more than you about Haruto's condition. As a result, you did everything they told you to do," Rio spoke.
Kaito raised an eyebrow and looked at her. "So you're basically telling me that I should have tried to find a cure myself?" Rio nodded. "Wouldn't that be even more idiotic? Running around looking for a cure for a disease you have no idea about?"
Rio opened her mouth to retaliate, but she found herself with nothing to say. She glared at him and childishly said, "Shut up!"
Kaito smirked and shook his head. He went back to looking down at the city. "Are you feeling a little better now?"
Even though Rio knew Kaito couldn't see her, she nodded. "Yeah. Thanks for coming to talk to me, Kaito. I'm still shaky about ani's condition, but I know he will pull through. I mean, he is my brother."
They remained silent for a while before the clock struck midnight. Kaito sighed. Why did this peaceful moment have to end? "It's late. I'll take you home."
Rio smirked. "The gentleman type, huh?"
Kaito ignored her and instead began walking to the door that would lead them to the ground. "Come on. We have to leave before we're locked out."
Rio furrowed her eyebrows. "Locked out? What are you talking about?"
Kaito stared at her. "Rooftops usually have a closing time. Since I'm not familiar with this rooftop, I do not know about it or its closing time."
Rio widened her eyes. Kaito didn't like that look on her face. "Closing time? Then Kaito..."
Kaito tried his best not to yell at her. "Don't tell me..." Kaito fast walked to the door and tried opening it. Locked. "Ugh. Aren't they supposed to check if people are still up here before they close up?"
"Yes. You're right," Rio began but then murmurred, "But the thing is that this rooftop has been closed for about a week now..."
"What was that?" Kaito asked, using his super hearing to try to understand what she murmurred.
Rio quickly shook her head. "Nothing!"
Kaito obviously did not believe her, but he didn't question her further. "I guess I'm going to have to call for Orbital..."
Rio smiled. "Yes. I guess you should..."
Third fanfic. Will most likely become a series of random conversations with each other. Questions you may have:
If the rooftop is locked, how did Rio get in and out? And how did Kaito get in as well? For Rio, it's a secret. For Kaito, he thought that Rio locked it on purpose, so he used Orbital to help him open the door up.
This story seems familiar. It should. I got help from it.
Why is this story so vague? Because I'm in a rush, and I want to publish it soon.
That's it. Ask if you have questions. Please review.
