"Jet: The First Equalist"

It took me forever to finish this chapter because I really don't like this episode. I hate the way Aang and Katara acted in this episode and I hate how racist and closed minded Jet is. Everything about this episode pissed me off. If I could skip this episode, I would, but sadly I can't because Jet, the little sociopath who is in desperate need of therapy, appears in more episodes! Please enjoy and review!

The group was currently resting in the middle of a forest, giving Appa some time to relax.

"Where's Momo?" Aang asked suddenly.

Katara, Sokka, Daisuke and Veemon all looked up at him from where they were sitting, unsure of where the Avatar's pet had scurried off to once again.

Just then, the group heard screeching that sounded just like Momo and everyone stood up as they walked off to look for the lemur-bat.

Venturing further into the forest, they heard the sounds of more animals chattering and Veemon's ears twitched as he listened to the noise.

"Hey, look up there!" Veemon pointed up at the trees.

Up in the tree tops were animals who had been caught and trapped in cages, one of them being Momo.

"Hang on, Momo!" Aang called as he used his Airbending to jump up into the trees.

Hanging upside down on the tree branch, the boy then reached over to the cage and reached over to where the hook attaching the rope to the tree was and lowered the cage by the rope.

Sokka and Katara grabbed the cage and pulled the bars open as Momo jumped out, flying into Daisuke's arms and she pet the poor traumatized lemur's ears.

"You really need to stay out of trouble." She cooed.

The Airbender then landed in front of his friends, but then looked up at the animals crying for help.

"All right, you too." Aang said as he spun into the air to free the animals.

"This is gonna take forever." Sokka said as he pulled out his boomerang and threw it at the ropes that kept the cages suspended.

The boomerang cut the rope and the cages then dropped to the forest floor and the animals scurried out to return to their dens.

"That works." Veemon commented.

Kneeling to the ground, Sokka looked over the traps, observing the way they were designed.

"These are Fire Nation traps. You can tell by the metal work. We better pack up camp and get moving." Sokka said.

(Back at camp...)

Once the group returned to camp, they started packing up their sleeping bags, clothing and any other supplies that they had.

Daisuke sighed as she flipped her hair out of her face as she rolled up her bed and Veemon was gobbling up some berries that Momo had gathered from the traps.

Aang was sitting on Appa's head as Katara reached up to hand a sleeping roll to him.

"Uh, uh! No flying this time." Sokka protested as he rushed over to his sister.

"What? Why can't we fly?" Aang asked in confusion.

"Think about it. Somehow Prince Zuko and the Fire Nation keep finding us. It's because they spot Appa. He's just too noticeable." Sokka said.

Veemon and Daisuke shared a look at that, both seeing the logic in what their friend was saying.

"What? Appa's not too noticeable!" Katara protested in the bison's defense.

"He's a giant fluffy monster with an arrow on his head. It's kinda hard to miss him." Veemon spoke up.

"Especially in the clear blue sky." Daisuke placed a hand on her hip.

"They're just jealous because they don't have arrows." Aang cooed to Appa as he pat the great beast's head.

"Oh, yes. We should all be jealous that we can't be forced to hold still while some monks carve into our bodies with a long needle tipped with ink to give us those stylish arrows that make it easier for the Fire Nation to tell who you are and try to kill us all." Daisuke mocked.

She honestly never liked the idea of being forced to have those horrible tattoos carved into your body simply because it was a part of your culture.

Another thing Daisuke didn't like about the Air Nomads was that they were never raised by their parents, they were always taken away from them and raised by the monks.

It was honestly depressing when you stopped to think about it.

Aang pouted over at the girl who shrugged at him, standing by her own opinion on the matter.

"I know you all wanna fly, but my instincts tell me we should play it safe this time and walk." Sokka explained.

"Who made you the boss?" Katara asked in amusement as she walked over to her brother.

"I'm not the boss, I'm the leader." Sokka stated making his sister scoff at that.

"You're the leader? But your voice still cracks." Katara teased.

"I'm the oldest and I'm a warrior." Sokka said as his voice then seemed to crack, gaining a higher pitch.

Clearing his throat, he then spoke again in a deeper tone.

"So, I'm the leader." he stated.

Katara simply giggled at that before she turned her attention over to where Aang was.

"If anyone's the leader, it's Aang. I mean, he is the Avatar." the Waterbender said.

"Are you kidding? He's just a goofy kid!" Sokka yelped.

The siblings, Daisuke and Veemon then looked over to where Aang was and found him hanging upside down on Appa's horn.

This made Daisuke's eye twitch in annoyance, since even she wasn't as immature when she was Aang's age.

"He's right." Aang agreed with Sokka.

"Why can't Daisuke be the leader?" Veemon spoke up making everyone look at him.

"Yeah, I'm used to the leader thing. After all, I am the captain of my soccer team and I'm the leader of the Digidestineds." Daisuke said proudly.

But then she sighed in depression.

"Although, the others didn't really treat me much like a leader." she muttered.

Yolei, Cody and Kari usually listened to TK's ideas over her own and if not, then it was Tai who was the leader of the original Digidestineds.

The only two Digidestineds who actually listened to her were Ken and Willis; it must be because they were Benders like her as well and it formed some type of bond between them.

"Why do boys always think someone has to be a leader? I bet you wouldn't be bossy if you kissed a girl." Katara smirked at her brother.

"I've kissed a girl! You just haven't met her." Sokka snapped.

"Who, Gran-Gran? I've met Gran-Gran." Katara taunted.

"No, besides Gran-Gran. Look, my instincts tell me we have a better chance of slipping through on foot, and a leader has to trust his instincts." Sokka explained.

"Or her instincts." Daisuke added making the older boy frown at her.

"Or her instincts." Sokka agreed.

"Okay, we'll try it your way, oh wise leader." Katara rolled her eyes.

"Who knows? Walking might be fun." Aang grinned as he bounced over to Katara with a pack on his back.

(A few minutes later...)

"Walking stinks! How did people go anywhere without a flying bison?" Aang complained.

The group had started walking into the forest, enjoying the scenery and even Appa seemed happy to have the weight off his back and sniffed at the berry bushes.

Finally, the hyper Avatar decided to voice his opinions on walking and it made Daisuke look back at him in aggravation.

She had walked for hours on end when she was in the Digital World and had even ran for hours on end when she played soccer.

Aang seemed to have lived an entitled life with the monks and was acting like a baby simply because he was walking like a normal person.

"Well, I don't know, Aang. Why don't you ask Sokka's instincts? They seem to know everything." Katara drawled sarcastically.

"Ha, ha. Very funny." Sokka muttered dryly as he walked ahead of the group with Daisuke and Veemon at his side.

"I'm tired of carrying this pack." Aang whined.

"And I'm tired of listening to all this whining." Daisuke growled under her breath.

"You'd think being raised by monks would teach him how to be more patient." Veemon commented.

"You know who you should ask to carry it for a while? Sokka's instincts." Katara quipped.

"That's a great idea!" Aang grinned.

The two younger Benders were annoying the warrior, Digidestined and Digimon with their joking and they were very close to snapping if Katara and Aang didn't shut up.

"Hey, Sokka's instincts, would you mind-"Aang was then cut off.

"Hey! If you two don't knock it off, I'm gonna shove my foot three inches down your throats! Now shut up, keep walking and stop acting like a bunch of spoiled BRATS!" Daisuke screamed finally losing her temper.

Everyone flinched back from the girl as flames spiraled around her arms and birds cawed as they flew away, startled from the sudden noise.

Veemon then paled as he pointed at something in front of the group that they hadn't noticed before.

"Uh, guys." he said.

Following his finger, the group all turned around and were startled to see that they had been walking towards a Fire Nation camp.

The soldiers had all froze when they heard the girl yelling and were just staring at the group of children.

"Run!" Sokka shouted as the group then turned and started running away when the soldiers snapped out of their stupor.

They then lit the bushes in front of the group on fire, cutting off their path and trapping them.

"We're cut off!" Sokka said as the soldiers then advanced on the kids.

"Sokka, your shirt." Aang pointed to the flame that had appeared.

Sokka then yelped, but Katara used the water from her canteen to put the flame out and bent the liquid back into the canteen.

The four humans then took stances, ready to fight as the soldiers surrounded them.

"If you let us pass, we promise not to hurt you." Sokka bluffed as he stood in front of Katara, Aang and Daisuke.

"What are you doing?" Katara hissed under her breath.

"Bluffing?" Sokka whispered questioningly.

"Do you know or not?" Daisuke deadpanned.

"You promise not to hurt us?" A soldier scoffed at what the boy said.

Suddenly, he grunted and dropped to the ground which made everyone stare in confusion at what had happened.

"Nice work, Sokka. How'd you do that?" Aang asked the oldest member of the group.

"Uh, instinct?" Sokka guessed since he was just as confused.

"Look!" Katara pointed to the tree tops.

Standing on a tree branch was a 16 year old boy who had tanned skin and shaggy brown hair who was wielding a pair of hook swords.

"Great, a Robin Hood, ninja wannabe." Daisuke muttered as she rolled her eyes.

She didn't know why, but there was something about the teenager that made her wary of him.

Although Katara and Aang were mocking Sokka for trusting his instincts, Daisuke was someone who trusted her own and knew for a fact that her own instincts were screaming at her to get away from the Robin Hood wannabe since there was something bad about him.

When she saw the look in his eyes when she caught them, Daisuke noticed that there was a darkness in them that made a chill go up her spine.

The mystery teen then did a backflip as he jumped out of the tree and used his hook swords to swing off a branch towards the soldiers and landed on two of them.

"Okay, I think we should all leave, like, now." Daisuke stated.

"Why? Shouldn't we stay here and help them out?" Katara asked as she watched the boy with awe in her eyes.

"Yeah, I'd rather not. I don't want these guys to find out that I'm a you know what and then Robin Hood and his band of merry men will try to kill me for it." Daisuke said.

"How do you know that will happen?" Aang asked.

"It literally happens everywhere we go." Sokka stated making Daisuke and Veemon nod in agreement.

"But shouldn't we at least…" Katara was cut off.

When a soldier came their way, Daisuke grabbed one of Sokka's weapons and bashed the man over the head with it.

"Fine. We help Robin Hood, then we leave. I don't feel like being beaten or tortured by these guys." Daisuke growled.

Happy about this, Katara summoned her water and got to work while the rest of the team got to work fighting.

A young boy was surrounded by a group of soldiers and Daisuke rushed over to help, knocking a man down while Veemon threw one of them into a tree.

"You okay, kid?" Daisuke asked as she kneeled down in front of the boy.

"Yeah, I'm fine." The boy smiled up at the pretty girl.

Yelling was heard as a soldier came at the duo and Daisuke grabbed the boy, jumping out of the way to avoid being blasted at by fire.

"I am so sick of these creeps." Daisuke sighed.

Soon enough, the fight was over and everyone gathered together to introduce themselves, Daisuke setting the boy down and he happily ran over to a large man.

"My name's Jet and these are my freedom fighters. Sneers, Longshot, Smellerbee, the Duke and Pipsqueak." The boy introduced his team.

Looking them over, Daisuke found that Smellerbee was the only girl on the team and wondered how on earth she had been given that horrible name.

Aang then laughed as he made his way over to the man and the little boy who Daisuke had saved.

"Pipsqueak, that's funny." Aang laughed.

"You think my name's funny?" The man roared.

"It's hilarious." Aang grinned.

Then, the man, who was named Pipsqueak, started laughing and slapped the Airbender on the back, sending him into the dirt.

"Hi, I'm the Duke. What's your name?" He asked the Firebender.

"I'm Daisuke and this is Veemon." She smiled down at the boy.

"Thanks for saving us." Katara smiled shyly as she walked over to Jet.

Daisuke, Sokka and Veemon all watched this and frowned at the sight.

They didn't approve of Jet.

There was something about him that put them all on guard.

"I should be thanking you. We were waiting all morning to ambush those guys, we just needed a distraction." Jet said.

"We were relying on instincts." Katara looked over at Sokka.

"You'll be killed doing that." Jet commented.

"Funny. My first instinct when I saw Duke surrounded was to save him. Are you telling me I should have ignored my instinct and let the kid die? What a wonderful person you are." Daisuke drawled.

Jet met her eyes and she glared at the darkness she saw inside of them.

"Hey Jet, we found a few barrels of blasting jelly." Duke called.

Everyone snapped their attention onto the kid.

"Nice." Jet praised looking thrilled about having the explosive.

"Why would they need blasting jelly?" Daisuke asked about Jet.

"You really don't trust these guys do you?" Sokka asked her.

"No. Jet, he… I can see darkness inside of him. I don't like the crazy look he has in his eyes at all. I think we need to get away from him as soon as possible." Daisuke told him.

"Yeah, I agree with you there." Sokka sighed as he placed a comforting hand on her shoulder.

"You guys have a hideout?" Aang asked.

Snapping their attention back onto the conversation going on around them, Sokka and Daisuke looked over at the group.

"Would you like to see?" Jet asked them.

"Yes, we would." Katara agreed eagerly.

"This is not going to end well." Veemon sighed.

Knowing that they wouldn't be able to talk any sense into the love struck Katara and the naïve Aang, the group started following after the freedom fighters.

Whatever was going to happen onwards, Daisuke just hoped that it wouldn't end in anyone being hurt.

To be continued…
