Sorry I was gone for so long. I did make some progress in the land of job hunting and have been spending a little more time on that lately. I heard of 'second interviews' but I thought they were a myth, like unicorns.

He checked the time and groaned at the thought; he had been there for now twelve hours. For the last two she had been moved to ICU, but as soon as it was announced of her placement he got the vibes from her mother that he wasn't welcomed. As for her father and her sister, they suggested, for his safety of course, that he at least waited for his turn.

Andrew exited the building as he waited and walked the grounds. Sam and Dean were nowhere in sight forcing Andrew to wonder if they just high-jacked a ride back to America and left him. Cas fluttered down after he made the third lap around campus. "They went back to your apartment," he stated. His sudden presence spooked Andrew, who was already exhausted and sleep deprived. "They went to gather a few of your things and do a little more investigation of their own."

Andrew scoffed, "As fake federal agents or are they going to do their best impersonation of a leprechaun?"

"They're not short enough," Cas deadpanned.

"Are they going to find the real reason behind all this?"

"I trust them to do so."

"Good."

Andrew stopped and sat down on a nearby bench that looked straight out to the busy street. Cas continued to stand.

"Have you thought about my suggestion?" Cas asked.

He nodded, "I know it's the best thing for her. But I can't lie to her like that. She will ask questions, you know? I'm going to have to answer to them. Then there will be investigations and…" he stopped. "With everything I know, I can't look at her the same."

"I understand," he agreed. "It's not an easy decision to make. You're at least a little more about the detail than your father was."

"Lisa, right?"

Cas nodded, "I watched over her briefly after I wiped her and Ben's memories. That situation had a lot more collateral which wasn't easy to undo."

"I'm not asking for anything to that degree. Just go as far back as a few days ago."

"If you want me to do what you are asking you're going to have to be more specific." And he was right to ask that. After clearing up nearly a year and a half of memories from The Breaden's and doing damage control on the side of everything 2012 had to offer Cas learned that it was all about the detail. It was more work but it would pale in comparison to the work he would have to do if he cleared away everything leaving a blank space with too many potential questions to its use.

"What, are you serious?" Andrew was sleep deprived and getting annoyed with the angel. He just wanted it to be over. This was a celestial being, why did he have to spell it out. "Just do what you need to."

"Andrew, this isn't an easy process," Cas reasoned. "If you want to make this easier on her I need to know everything."

"You're an angel," Andrew argued.

"And I'm far from perfect," Cas countered.

Andrew hung his head, giving up and giving in. "About three days ago we were talking and she mentioned that strange things, actually supernatural happenings, were bothering her. She felt like she was being watched. Actually hold on to that, if there is an investigation she would need that detail."

"Understandable."

"Fuck, the fact that there may be an investigation is fucking this up." Andrew combed through the details in his head of what would stay and what would have to go. Everything in their stories had to line up. He had to keep her safe, but for him there was no way he could be. He was involved now in the life. That wasn't going to be an easy secret to keep. Either way the people he loved were going to be at risk. Now he had to pick the lesser of evils. "Just take everything from the break in to now."

"Are you sure that is what you want?" Cas asked with finality.

"Yes. I'll figure out the rest."

Cas nodded and left Andrew alone.

Andrew returned the ICU. Hannah family was halfway down the hallway, leaving the floor for what he assumed was to get some rest. Andrew slowly walked through the doorway. It was dark save for only an overhead light above her bed. He imagined her with more wires and tubes, but he was surprised how little there was. Save for a nasal cannula, a few tubes taped to her arms, and another few scant wires that lead to computers. Each thing signaled that Hannah was still there. "Miracle my ass," he mumbled. "If they only knew how truly stubborn you are." He pulled up the small chair and sat next to Hannah, quietly watching and talking. "They still think you are this quiet girl they knew, but I knew what you didn't how them. You are something to be reckoned with. You fought something evil and didn't give in. Miracles are not fought for."

He sat for a little longer, talking about his trip, leaving the djinn detail out. "You would like Dean. He saves people. And I have an uncle who is a bloody tree. You and Sam would get along nicely. He's a bit of a book worm. Dean is a man of action, but he's more complex than he lets on." He was about to go on about the bar room antics when a nurse crept in.

Andrew watched as she did her job, saying nothing and not asking questions. All those checks she did and typed up on her tablet only reaffirmed what he knew. Hannah was going to be changed forever when she woke up. Before the nurse left he stopped her, "Excuse me."

She turned and faced Andrew, "Can I help you?"

"I am assuming she woke up in recovery, right?"

"Yes I was there."

"Did she say anything."

The nurse smiled, "People say a lot of things coming out of anesthesia. Unless we know they have a criminal record we don't pay attention to it." She could see that Andrew was relieved. "Believe me, I have heard it all. She didn't say anything that would give us any concern." She walked leaving him alone again.

"At least there is no reason to worry about them knowing," he said to Hannah. She remained still with the exception of eyelid movement. Andrew went in and out of the room, looking for Cas, hoping that he would show up before she woke up. It would be easier to do what needed to be done while she was still under.

While in and out of the room he caught sight of Dean turning around the corner. He sped up his pace to his son.

Dean had a feeling. He knew exactly what was going to happen.

Sorry folks, I know it is terribly short, but I am super busy with going back to 50+ hour weeks, wedding planning, tax season (AHHHH), House of Cards, and knocking on doors of the State House in Columbus. Ladies and gentlemen, I am applying to work my way in to the legislative machine that I am already utterly disgusted with. If you can't beat them, join them. Time to take my cutthroat personality of mine and make it work.
