It only took a little over a week for Diego to come live them. Xander loved having a roommate and Brittany and Santana wondered just how long that would last. They knew the day would come when each boy would want their own room and figured they could transform the attic into a room if needed.
Rosa had stayed the weekend of Diego's first day living away from her. It was hard when she had to leave, for her and Diego but they made it through. The weeks that followed where an adjustment. Diego kept asking about her and didn't understand why she wasn't there. However, they all worked through it and by the third month, Diego had adjusted.
True to their word, Santana and Brittany made sure Rosa was still a big part of Diego's life. Everyone loved Rosa and Santana's mom had actually become quite close with her. Their unique arrangement worked.
Aracely was turning into quite the explorer and Brittany and Santana would often find her being a little troublemaker around the house. She was so curious about everything and Brittany and Santana found they needed to keep an extra close eye on her so she wouldn't hurt herself.
Xander continued to to try to get his siblings to understand things like he did and Santana would often find him frustrated that the toddlers didn't see the world like he did. He did help his moms any way he could and Brittany and Santana were very grateful.
Despite being busy with their kids, Santana and Brittany made time for their friends and family. With everyone having children, Kurt and Rachel had started to seriously think about creating a family with their respective partners. Santana still could not believe Rachel had fallen in love and agreed to marry Finn Hudson. She would never say this to Rachel, but Santana thought she could do better.
Mercedes had had her beautiful little girl and Brittany dotted on her Goddaughter every chance she got. Quinn had seriously started to consider having another baby, much to Sam's delight. Sugar and Puck were already trying for kid number two. Even Mike and Tina where considering starting a family despite only being married a short while.
They weren't those college kids who would party and only think of themselves. Everyone was grown up and family came first.
###
It was a rare rainy Sunday in L.A. and the trip to the park Santana and Brittany had planned changed to setting up a picnic in their living room with their kids. They had a large red blanket laid out with paper plates, plastic cups, juice boxes and sandwiches. Brittany had moved some of their houseplants around them to create as much of a park feel as possible. Lord Tubbington sat next to Xander chewing on the piece of beef jerky he had been given.
"This is better," Xander said, "Lord Tubbington is here. We can't take him to the park."
"Kitty!" Aracely giggled and crawled over to the cat and tried to pick him up. When she couldn't, she settled for giving Lord Tubbington a hug. "Kitty!"
Brittany just shook her head and smiled. Lord Tubbington always let the kids do anything to him and he'd just take it and not hiss or cry. He trusted the kids and Brittany knew that he would lever hurt the children. "Honey, let Lord Tubbington finish his food."
Aracely gave the cat one last squeeze and crawled to Brittany. "Momma. Mami. Mommy."
Santana gave Diego a piece of sliced apple as she watched her daughter crawl to Brittany. "I guess she's testing out which one she likes." Santana turned her attention to her daughter. "Aracely. Who am I?"
Aracely made herself comfortable on Brittany's lap before pointing her little finger at Santana and answering. "Momma. Mami. Mommy."
"I guess that's what she's calling us for a while," Brittany said with a laugh.
Diego held out his half eaten apple to Santana. "No más."
Santana took the piece and put it back on the plate. "Tienes sed?" Diego nodded and reached for the apple juice box Santana offered him. "Do you think he'll ever call us mom?"
Brittany looked at Diego who had decided to play with one of his cars and making car noises. He would occasionally look up and smile at her. "I hope so. I mean, I know that right now we're not technically his parents but I hope we can be, one day. We should talk to Rosa about adopting him and not just being his foster parents."
Santana ruffled Diego's hair and he smiled. "We should. He's already so attached to Aracely and Xander…and us. I can't imagine him not being part of our family."
"Me neither."
"Diego's not leaving, right?" Xander asked, worry in his voice, "You said he could stay."
"He is staying, honey," Santana said, "Don't worry."
"Good," Xander said, "Cause I'm big brother."
"You are." Brittany gave her son a wink. "You are doing a great job being a big brother to Aracely and Diego."
"You really are, little man," Santana added. She got up and stretched before sitting on the nearby couch where she had a perfect view of her children. She motioned Brittany to join her.
Brittany smiled and set Aracely next to Diego. "Xander, why don't you teach your brother and sister how to build things with the blocks."
"OK!" Xander said, a big smile on his face.
Brittany got up and joined her wife. "I'm glad it rained. I like this living room picnic we set up."
"It's pretty genius." Santana put her arm around her wife and brought her closer. "We have some great kids on our hands."
"We do." Brittany kissed her wife's cheek, then her lips. "And I have a pretty great wife on my hands."
"That makes two of us," Santana said, giving her wife another kiss.
They watched their kids play, grateful for the love they shared for them and for each other.
Santana kissed Brittany's temple. "Susan is going on another world tour."
"Good," Brittany groaned, "She's the worst."
Santana let out a small chuckle. "She is, but as much as I dislike her, I'm glad I met her."
Brittany sat up and looked at her wife in disbelief. "You can't be serious."
"I am." Santana leaned in and gave Brittany a small kiss. "If I hadn't met her, I never would have gone to her speech, and I wouldn't have met you that day. So yeah, I'm glad I met her."
Brittany felt herself blush. "We'll, if you put it that way, I'm glad you met her too."
Aracely and Diego started clapping, while Xander laughed. Brittany and Santana turned their attention to their children and joined in the fun.
Their living room picnic was a success.
-The End -
A/N: And that's it for this one. I know I could have just added this last part to the last chapter but I wanted to end at 15. ;) Thanks for reading this and for following Brittany and Santana from college kids to parents. It was fun writing and I hope you all enjoyed.
I'm seriously thinking of doing one more, but I'd like to have most of it done before I begin posting.
Thanks to all who took the time to read, review, and PM.
