The upcoming subdivision was made of new homes but that did not make in any less creepy at night. The streetlights were not working leaving no light other than the moon, which cast dim shadows across the street. Most of the houses were completed. The large piles of dirt haven been spread out forming each lot, now coated with snow. The only sound was the snow crunching under their feet.

"Which one?" Garth whispered as if speaking to loudly would cause some creature to jump out from the shadows.

"Number twenty nine." JJ answered as the two turned the corner.

...

The two had cleared the house the same way they would at the FBI. Garth moved like a pro, no hesitation in his movements, as he swept each room leading with a steady hand holding his gun. Though he was not as dark and gritty as the Winchesters, JJ was beginning to see how being a hunter affected someone. She saw how it weighed them down, how their lifestyle turned them into professionals in their field.

Carefully, once each room was cleared, they moved to the basement.

Outside the house seamed complete as well as the main level, but the basement was still under construction. Support beams were up, the studs in place but most walls lacked insulation or drywall. There was plastic and electrical wire hanging from the ceiling adding to JJ's discomfort.

The floor creaked under their weight; each noise might as well have been a canon in the silent house.

A narrow window at ground level allowed just enough light to see. The moonlight caught the metal frames of ten crate like dog cages, four of which had sleeping children inside. There was barely enough room inside forcing the children to curl with their legs pulled tight to their chest as they lied in restless sleep.

"O my god." JJ gasped for a moment lowering her guard as she rushed to them, but Garth did not waver as he continued to guard her- constantly looking for an enemy.

Dropping to her knees JJ gripped the large padlock. The noise woke the sleeping boy inside

"Shhhh." JJ hushed as she raised her finger to her lips. "It's okay, were going to get you all out of here but we need you to be quite."

"Move." Garth said as he grabbed the metal pipe slid it through the lock and pulled. The padlock broke under the pressure.

"Come on we have to go." JJ whispered as she helped each child out of the cage.

"What do you think you're doing?" A voice stated firmly causing JJ and garth to turn quickly moving in front of the children. A woman stood at the top of the steps, blonde hair falling to her shoulders with a murderous look in her eyes.

"Ms. Barton." JJ stated immediately recognizing the woman, but her reflection in the window caused any further words to get stuck in her throat. In it her eyes were hollowed out and black, while her pale skin now looked grey and waxy, mouth twisted into a large circle filled with teeth surrounded by dark blue vein.

Garth raised his gun the second she took one step, firing three shots. Each bullet buried themselves in her chest, but the woman continued to walked down the steep as if she had not even felt them.

The children screamed and JJ pushed them back as Garth reached for his homemade flamethrower.

The creature was fast, in front of her in seconds, but Garth moved to block her path.

Raising an arm the mother changling easily threw him aside, knocked unconscious and the flamethrower out of his hands. The kids quickly ran taking cover in the unfinished basement.

It grabbed her next, lifting her by the throat. JJ could feel its cold fingers gripping into her neck and forced her to look into her eyes. They were blue, normal, hiding the monstrous form.

Something about her taking the form of human to hide what she really was gave way to a burst of adrenalin. Reaching out for anything JJ's hands found the metal pole Garth had used to break the locks. She gripped it tightly and swung it with all the force she could muster.

It collided with the creature's head forcing let her go.

Dropping to the ground JJ crawled to Garths flamethrower, she turned quickly pulling the trigger as the changling stood over her. A spark met accelerant and with a burst of light and wave of heat the creature burst into flames.

...

Breathing heavily JJ's wide eyes turned to the kids who appeared to be in just as much shock, their frightened faces peeking out from behind the walls of plastic.

Garth picked that moment to pop up covered in dust. "What did I miss?"

Dropping the last of the children off at their homes JJ turned to Garth. "What will the parents think?" She asked not sure what hunters did after a case was finished, who was left to explain what had happened. If the Winchesters were any example, it was normal to hightail it out of town before anyone had the chance to ask questions.

"The kids are out of it my this point, they wont remember much. What they do the parents will think were just a bad dream, or whatever rationalization lets them sleep at night." Garth explained.

"Will they be okay?" JJ asked.

"Couple good nights sleep, and their moms home cooking, they will be right as rain." Garth smiled before dropping her off at her own house. Will and Henry would not be home till tomorrow evening making their family home seem quite and empty.

"Will you be okay?" Garth asked from the drivers seat.

"Yeah, I'll be fine." JJ nodded. "Talk to you later Garth." She added before watching the Ford ranchero drive off.

JJ read over one file after another; it was part of her job deciding which case the team would take next. A family annihilator in San Diego serial in Detroit ritualistic in Seattle

It was the ritualistic killer that drew her attention; each victim was missing their heart. Before she would have through of it as a trophy but now she knew different.

Slipping the file along with three others into her brief case JJ walked out of the office. She had another job besides deciding where the team would go.

Some files she passed along to Bobby, other to a woman named Ellen. It seamed she found herself mixed in the chaotic mess of the hunter information circuit, passing along information and putting together cases… and she loved it.

"Ready to go JJ?" Hotch asked.

"Yeah." She answered just as her phone started to ring. "I'll be one second."

Taking her new cell out of her purse, a prepaid phone that she used for contacting Bobby and Garth.

"Hello." JJ greeted in a stern voice waiting for the person on the other line to say something.

"Hey I got your number from a friend of a friend. Got something strange going on in Phoenix." A strangers voice stated before quickly listing off a description of the victims, each young and killed by what looked like claws. What stood out was the missing sections of brain discovered during autopsies.

"Sounds like you've got a kitsune." JJ said simply as she made for the jet, pausing at the door so the team would hear her. "They're rare, only way I know to kill her is a dagger to the heart."

"You're a lifesaver miss." The hunter thanked before the line went dead.

"Everything alright?" Hotch asked.

"Never been better." JJ smiled. "Lets just focus on the case." She added when it looked like he was going to press the subject, taking her normal set by the window.

...

They had been in the air for hours, most of the team already asleep hoping to get a few hours of sleep before landing. Derek's large headphones were acting as earplugs canceling out any noise. Spencer had fallen asleep with the case files spread out in front of him, while Hotch and Emily were asleep in their seats next to one and other.

JJ was dozing of against the window looking out at the lights below, her lids becoming heavy. They were flying over Ilchester, not far away from their case in New York when a beam of light suddenly shot up in the air. There was a fraction of a second of pause before JJ shot up in her seat. The jet took a sharp turn to the right causing the rest of the team to jolt wake as they were nearly tossed from their seats.

Never had anyone been more thankful for seatbelts as that moment when each one of them where lifted from their seats- helpless to do anything.

Someone screamed but JJ couldn't be sure whom. The beam of light had completely overtaken them, forcing her to cover her eyes with her arms and reach blindly for an air mask handing from the ceiling.

The plane dropped suddenly, earning another scram. The only reason JJ remained silent was that her heart seemingly had risen from her chest and lodged itself in her throat.

Peaking out from behind her arm JJ could feel the little hunters instinct that she had begun to develop stirred inside her.

What the hell was going on?

...

End of part three.

Note: I would like to point out that my spelling and grammar suck so feel free to say that a chapter has lots of comma splices, run on sentence, etc…

I would also like to say that I have two ideas on how this story can end, one would finish it at part 4, another would end at approximately part 6…. I'm leaning more towards ending it with the apocalypse arc (part 4) but i'm not sure.
