After that last spiel, every one is calling out for her to be with Erwin. I am okay with that! But now we are getting down to the last final chapters. And I might have found a more satisfying ending, but I won't know until I go to write it out.
Thank you for the reviews, favorites, and follows! They make my heart swell with happiness! You don't have to review if you do not want to, I just ask because I like to know what my readers want. I like hearing opinions and even constructive criticsism. It's nice to see some one was paying real close attention. So feel free to point out mistakes too!
We are going to see Ingrid come out of her shell a bit in the upcoming chapters.
Levi had been gone for a long time. After many events, she barely noticed they happened since she was sheltered away from them. Erwin was rarely home and he didn't say much to her any more.
She spent a few days with Emilia and her other brothers to ease her loneliness. It was starting to affect her in ways she wasn't expecting. She wasn't very hungry, she rarely slept, and she rarely felt happy, even around Emilia.
She ached for Levi and at the same time, she was glad that she no longer had that decision to make or to hide from Erwin. But now with Erwin gone most of the time, she began to ache for him even more that she did for Levi.
Day after lonely day, she would find silly things to do, like tailor all of Erwin's shirts, pressing his pants, shining his boots, rearranging things in the kitchen to make it more comfortable and welcoming.
While cleaning his office, she heard the main door open and close. She peeked out of the office door to see down the hall.
Erwin had his back to her and was taking off his jacket. He was noticeably dirty and his movements were stiff. When he turned around, she covered her mouth in horror. His left eye was almost swollen shut and his face and neck were bruised and scraped in places. He looked at her and sighed.
"Vettie-"
"Where were you?" She hurried down the hall and threw her arms around his mid-section. "What happened? Who did this?" Her voice shook with anger and concern.
He put his hand on her head and stepped back a bit. "I'll explain, just let me clean up first."
She took his hand in her trembling one. "I'll help, come on..."
Ingrid's hands slid gently over her husband's bruised back, careful to not inflict any pain. Erwin Smith may have the pain tolerance of a statue, but she didn't like the thought of causing him more discomfort.
The warm water in the tub let off steam, which caused droplets to form on Erwin's face and chest. The calming way Ingrid washed his back made him relax and lean forward, head drooping down slightly. Ingrid sat on a stool beside the tub, sleeves rolled up to her elbows and her hands working to help Erwin clean himself.
Ingrid reached for the soap and began to rub his neck, earning a relaxed moan from him.
"I have to go soon, Vettie."
Her hands stopped and she clenched her jaw. It never failed. She swallowed her pride and continued to wash him. "When?"
"Tomorrow." He turned his head slightly. "I need you by my side."
She pulled back from him and stared dumbly. "By your side? What?"
He turned his upper body to look at her and she blushed slightly when his abdominal area came into view. Even if they were married, she appreciated how good-looking her husband was.
"I want you to come with me. To recover Eren and Historia Reiss. You're fast and that skill is what we might need to succeed in our mission." He looked into her eyes and then to his arm. "I can't protect you, but I won't hold you back any more."
She bit the inside of her cheek and turned her head away. He was ashamed, she knew, that he was asking her for help. But at the same time, her excitement to be a soldier again was overwhelming. "I accept your offer, but Erwin, maybe you shouldn't worry about me any more. I know I'm not strong and great in combat, but, I can hold my own. I won't hold you back."
He smirked slightly and turned back. "I would like tonight to be special. Join me?"
She was glad his back was to her because the blush that spread across her face burned. She looked down at her hands and smiled. For once, they could just be married. That was all he was asking. No anger, no tears, no torn feelings. Just them enjoying each other.
An embarrassing thought came to her as she stood to undress. Hiding her red face, she stood in front of the tub and began to shed her clothing in his line of sight. She slipped her dress off slowly and tossed it in the corner. She removed her undergarments and shook her hair loose. When she was completely naked she looked at him. He looked like a hungry predator and she felt butterflies in her belly when he reached out for her. She took his hand and almost squealed when he pulled her into the warm water with urgency, his mouth on her's instantly.
She pulled back, gasping, looking up at him in surprise. He smiled gently at her and kissed her forehead. "I can't promise we will come back alive tomorrow."
She smiled sadly and ran her fingers along his collar-bone. "It would be cruel of you if you did." Her fingers trailed down his chest and his abdomen, not looking away from him. "I want to tell you...I am sorry. I should have ended it with Levi sooner." She rested her head in the crook of his neck. "I guess he didn't love me like I thought he did."
"I told him not to touch you ever again or I'd kill him." Erwin's voice rumbled in his chest and Ingrid pulled back to look at him.
"Why would you do that?" It explained the way Levi was acting when they parted. She wanted to be angry at Erwin, but she really wasn't angry at all.
He sighed and pulled her closer to him. "I want to be selfish and have all to myself. I married you, after all. I will always be grateful to him for watching over you, but you're my wife and I want you."
Sighing, she wrapped both arms around him. "I know. If we make it back tomorrow, I won't ever to that to you again. I will remain faithful to you as long as I live."
"I can't give you a lot of things." He said into her ear. "Are you sure you want to dedicate your life to me? I'm already so old, I could croak any minute. I might need diapers soon-"
She smacked his shoulder playfully and held him closer. "Yeah, I am sure. Now be quiet, I want to listen to your heart."
He leaned back in the tub, holding her head to his chest and stroking her hair. Every now and then he would kiss the top of her head or the back of her hand. Some times he would touch intimate parts of her body as he would make a path to her thigh or shoulder.
"Erwin." She clawed his back. "I want it."
That was all he needed to hear.
After a long night of making love, Ingrid finally had to stop Erwin. She could barely keep her eyes open and the spot between her legs was becoming sore. He was getting more aggressive. She liked it.
Laying under him, breathing heavily, was just as exotic as their sex. She leaned back her head and hummed in satisfaction. Erwin rolled off of her, disconnecting their bodies and leaving Ingrid cold and reaching for him.
"I thought you said no more." He chuckled as he caught her hand and pulled her closer to him.
"I just want to be next to you." She pouted slightly and nuzzled his chest. They laid there with their legs entangled and breath mingling. After a few moments, she laced her fingers with his. "Erwin Smith. I didn't think I could love you any more than I already did. But...I keep finding myself falling for you more and more every day. Is that was marriage is?"
His eyes softened and he rested his forehead against her's. "I believe so. It's wonderful, isn't it?"
"I don't want it to ever end."
"It won't. Even if we die, I will find you again in another life, I promise."
"I promise too."
Awww, romancing the shit out of ya'll. Any way, here is the last chapter before shit hits the fan. This story and my other story I am currently working on will end similarly, but that is because I like the reincarnation stuff. (That was a little spoiler for ya!) If you want to predict the ending or how they will meet again, I would love to hear it! I seriously love hearing from my readers, you guys are great.
Until next chapter!
