Chapter 13

Sesshoumaru watched as Rin raced Jaken into thick fog. Form what he had heard Rin had won the race to the demon's remains. Sesshoumaru listened to their conversation in the back of his mind as he thought, Inuyasha's scent has changed to one close to a full youkai. How is this possible? Maybe he should ask Yukitora about this, but first he wanted a sword and he knew just who to go to.

Yukitora stirred in her bliss. The night before was one of the best nights of her life. She didn't want it to end yet, but Inuyasha would be up in a hour so she need to get dress and take a bath.

She sighed as she stood from the bed, but she looked at her sleeping mate-to-be. Yukitora smiled at him. She quickly wrote a note and gave him a kiss before she left the room. After a quick bath she returned to her own room and dressed in her normal attire. Totosai would be at her palace in a few hours and she had things she need him to do. Why does my life have to be so complicated? She thought as she groaned. All she wanted to do today was sleep with Kouga and maybe go a few... well perhaps a lot of rounds in bed with him.

Yukitora knew she wasn't ready to mate him yet. She had to rid herself of the lingering feels she possessed for Naraku. It wouldn't be right to Kouga if she didn't do that. This lust or whatever it was had to end one way or another. She sighed as she left for Inuyasha's room. Quickly she sat in the chair next to his bed as she closed her eyes to watch his progress.

It was a few years before Yukitora was taken for training. She was wondering the lands like she offend did when she didn't spend time with Sesshoumaru. "Help!" cried a girl.

Yukitora turned to the direction of the voice. She sniffed her hair. The girl was human and was being chased by both humans and demons. The child smelled of blood and as a Inuyoukai they had very powerful mothering instincts... well except for Yukitora's mother she was a royal bitch.

Without a second thought she lunged forward and wrapped her arms around the child. "It'll be alright." Yukitora whisper in the girl's ear, "I'll protect you." The girl looked into her soft kind gaze as girl cried.

"Hey, who are you?" Grumbled a fat blue demon with large black eyes.

"Hime Yukitora of the West," She answered as she gentle pushed the girl behind her. "What are little rouges like you doing on my land? Do you wish for death?"

Several of the demons where smart enough to slink back, but others where looked at her with sick lust filled gazes. "How about you hand the child over princess and we'll let you live."

"So you do wish for your death. I thought as much." Yukitora said. "Close your eyes child I don't wish for you to have nightmares due to this slaughter."

"Mm-hmm," The child shut her eyes.

Yukitora's softly kind features where suddenly gone as her looks appeared to be that of a killer's smirk. Her darker nature appearing before the now frightened demons and humans. She didn't want to give these fools quick deaths. She wanted their deaths to be slow and agonizing. Yukitora wanted to bath in blood tonight.

"Now," She said emotionless much like her composed brother, "Who'll like to die first? Or are you all cowards who'll run with your tail between your legs."

"Kill her and take the child!" The largest one roar and they hesitated, but they did comply.

"Foolish vermin the lot of you," She told them before burning them alive. Once they where dead she shook her head. Honestly... her darker nature frightened her. She never really understood why she enjoyed to kill, but she did. Her kind face and gently soft eyes returned as she took the child into her arms and formed a youkai cloud to her father's palace.

"Little one, you may open your eyes now." She whispered once out of sight of the small massacre of the foolish lowborn demons and human scum.

The child's eyes flipped open and Yukitora was instantly captivated by her rich brown eyes. So beautiful... Yukitora thought.

"What's your name sweetie?" Yukitora asked in a soft voice.

"Izioyai," the girl replied.

That's where she decided to end sharing her memories with a snap of her fingers. There where things she was still keeping from Inuyasha and she wasn't ready to share them just yet. "Inuyasha," Yukitora said as she ran her hand down Inuyasha's cheek. "Wake up, sweetie. Totosai will be here in a few hours to fix the sword. Get up sweetie. You need to bath and join me for breakfast."

"Mom, five more minutes," he whined.

"I think not," She swiftly picked her son out of bed and threw him over her shoulder.

"Hey! Put me down!"

"Not going to happen!" She informed him as she headed for her son's private hot spring.

"Come on mom! Put me down I can bath myself!"

"As you wish," she replied dropping him into the steamy water.

"Mom! What's got you into this mood?!"

Yukitora giggled, "Nothing, now bath. I have to wake your siblings."

She left the room laughing at the pitiable pouting face of her son. He was so cute when his ears went flat. Izioyai... I haven't thought of you in a good hundred and twenty years, she thought before shaking her head. No... I will not dwell on her. I left her in my father's care those years ago and that was that!

"Kohaku?" Yukitora called to his sleeping form as she sat upon his bed. "Honey it's time to wake up."

"M-mom?" Kohaku mumbled half asleep.

"Yes, honey its mom. Breakfast will be ready shortly. I'd like it if you took a bath and join me in the dinning room. Then after you and Sango will be accompanying Inuyasha and I to see Totosai or he his coming here to get us."

Kohaku sat up to look at Yukitora, "Okay,"

Yukitora smiled as she hugged him tightly in her arms, "I'll see you in a bit, my son."

She let him go and gave him a loving smile before she left for Sango's room. "I see your up," Yukitora commented as watched Sango doing hand stand like push ups. "I remember when Sesshoumaru and I were like that. We training day in and day out. I remember when Izioyai would sit on my back as I did push ups." Yukitora said fondly.

"Were you and Inuyasha's mother close?" Sango asked as she stood.

"When she was young, yes. When she turned twenty I was forced to leave her and I made my father promise to take care of her. I... should of stayed." Yukitora replied. "I don't like taking about what happened between her and I," she sighed. "Breakfast will be ready soon and after get ready to leave. I'd like you and your brother to accompany Inuyasha and I to Totosai's. I won't be joining you for breakfast. I must go out for a bit."

"Of course mother."

"I'll see you soon,"

Yukitora left quickly from her palace and summoned her energy ball that took her to the one place she desired to be... Izioyai's grave. She picked flowers from the nearby meadow and placed then next to her head stone. Her slender fingers gently traced the letters on the stone in a loving fashion. "Why did you have to leave?" she said softly with a sigh. "You were so close to me, but those petty fools took you away before you could get to me... the monsters."

She could fell the tears form in her eyes as she thought of her past memories with the mortal princess. "I tried not thinking of you... and... and I end up raising your son. My father's son. You should have been with me. I shouldn't of left you. It was wrong. I'm so sorry!" Finally she began to cry and the tears wouldn't stop. "Inuyasha is such a pretty boy. He has your looks and my father's arrogance, but he has my confused heart."

"If I didn't leave you in my father's care you would still be here and Inuyasha... wouldn't of... suffered. I'm certain you were happy with father. I know you were soul mates. I wish... I just didn't leave. I hate myself so much for it and I miss you even more." Yukitora sobbed. "You were more than a friend to me and I abandoned you. Like a bloody fool!"

"Yukitora," a voice said from behind her.

"You have no right to be here, Naraku. Defiantly... not here." She replied not looking at him as she placed her hand once again on Izioyai's name. "This is the grave of someone I loved more then life itself. Izioyai... I didn't love her like a friend should... I loved her as if she were blood, but I never told her about it. Go away and leave me to my grief."

"I'm not that heartless." Naraku said as he laid a hand upon her head.

"Hard to believe otherwise. You attack my son, my brother, and all they hold dear even after you met me. You wish make amends with me start with my family and give up being a full demon. I never cared what you are. If you don't then keep your paws off me!" she said smacking his hand away.

"You wouldn't care if I stay as is?" he questioned.

"No at all. I like you as you are. I know you are evil by nature and that is fine. All demons have a part of them that is evil in one way or another." she said finally looking at him. "You've had a taste of mine."

"I have," he agreed. Naraku had been fighting himself for the longest time. Her or the jewel... that was his choice. Frankly power and causing others suffering was fun, but she was something else entirely. She was more fulfilling more than anything he ever knew. His desire for her was madding and he could sense that she wanted him to, but all the pain he had caused and the pathetic wolf cause her to hesitate. Naraku knew he had to appease her someway... he inwardly smiled to himself he had an idea where to start and perhaps he could have her and the jewel. "Yukitora," he whispered as he held her, "I will make amends to you, but you must understand I can't to your son my crimes towards him can only be appeased by death. Give me time and I will fix this."

With those words Naraku left her, but not completely he watched from the shadows as she cried a bit longer, but Izioyai's name was not the name she cried out. It was Naraku's.

Why must he confuse my soul so much?
