Chekov ran towards engineering. He didn't really notice how the other officers in the corridor where stopping to stare at him or jumping to the side to let him pass. He just kept running. He would find a nice quiet Jeffries tube to lie down and sob his eyes out in. All he needed to do was get there without being stopped.

When he finally reached the main warp drive room, after what felt like an eternity of running down never ending hallways, Pavel breathed a sigh of relief. Suddenly, from behind a near panel, Scotty jumped up, wearing his usual cheeky smile. "Ah there ya are laddie! I jus' wanted ta say that I forgive ya fer beamin' me chair into space. I know it was an accident-" Scotty cut off when he saw the tears that were flowing down the young Russian's face.

"Whoa there laddie, whas' wrong?" He started again, this time more softly.

Chekov looked up at the chief engineer with his large, watering eyes. "I-I… my grandmother… my babushka… i-iz…she…" The boy was so hysterical he could barely form a sentence. But Scotty, however, understood immediately, and went forward to hug the younger man. "Aw, I'm sorry Pavel," he said softly as he comforted his friend. "I'm so sorry." Chekov clung to the man, wanting to soak up all the comfort he could. He really didn't want to be alone. But his comfort was cut short, when they heard the door behind them sliding open. Chekov jumped back, embarrassed and feeling like a child. Scotty turned to great the engineer that had unknowingly walked in on their bonding session, but was shocked to find that it wasn't an engineer at all.

It wasn't Human either.

Three tall men-like creatures stood in the door way, covered in a strange metal like material that Scotty had never seen before. As they stepped into the room, Scotty pulled his phaser and stepped in front of his vulnerable colleague. "What are ya doing on this ship?" The tall men did not answer. Scotty tried again. "Look, I'll shoot ya if ya don't answer. So, what are ya doing on the ship?" One of the Tall men cocked his head at the engineer. In a stiff voice he answered, "We have come for the child."

"What child?" Scotty asked confused. The tall men didn't answer. Instead, two of them lunged at Scotty. Scotty shot one with his phaser, but it didn't seem to be affected. They grabbed him and ripped the phaser out of his fist. The third man had cornered Chekov. "Child. You will come with us."

The man grabbed Chekov around the waist, and to Scotty's horror, all three men along with the young Russian, disappeared.
