Christmas Special

It was snowing beautifully outside. Spots of white covered the grounds as people passed merrily by. Couples were walking hand in hand on the brightly lit streets. Little kids were running around the big decorated tree situated at the middle of the lively city. Families were having their own little party dinners.

It was the long-awaited Christmas and most people already had plans to spend time with company. Of course the basketball bunch had similar plans.

After having a nice Christmas dinner with his family, Kuroko hopped over to Kagami's house, the destination for the after party. Upon ringing the doorbell, Kuroko was greeted by Aomine who arrived just a little earlier than the cute little phantom holding onto a wrapped gift topped with a beautiful purple ribbon.

"Merry Christmas!" Sayumi brought out a cake after everyone arrived. It was a big cake, big enough for everyone to have seconds. Akashi offered his second slice to Murasakibara who had already ate Kuroko's second slice. Thus, Sayumi offered to split her seconds with Kuroko.

After finishing the entire cake, Sayumi went under the Christmas tree in Kagami's living room. It was a tree that her parents sent over a week ago along with a bunch of other presents. As big and unexpected as the tree was, Kagami agreed to help haul it in. Sayumi remembered decorating it with Kuroko and Kise. Whenever it was slightly slanted or unbalanced in circular ornaments, Akashi would point it out. Murasakibara was invited over to put the final star, only to have him complain that he's too tired. Sayumi couldn't reach it herself so she had Kagami give her a boost. Midorima decided on the lighting colors while Aomine was in charge of actually putting the lights on the tree.

Sayumi bent down and looked at the seven big boxes of the same size, just wrapped in different colors. Much to her utter disbelief, Sayumi's parents had to send presents not only to her, but her friends as well.

The Kineno couple was executives of a company. It so happened that they were making a line of sports equipment that year. At the new release and promotion their products, Sayumi's parents gifted each of their daughter's mentioned friends a set of sporting goods all packaged and wrapped like a Christmas present. Mrs. Kineno, being the detailed person she was, interrogated Sayumi thoroughly before selecting the appropriate colors for her friends.

So when the Miracles, Kagami, and Kuroko all opened their present (from the Kinenos), each unsurprisingly found a sports bag, towel (with their initials), pen (what?), notepad (huh?), sports bottle (super large), wristband, and a personal Christmas letter from the Kineno couple who wanted to thank each of them for watching over their daughter.

Sayumi opened her own present from her parents and found a nice gold frame and a camera. She gasped as she looked at the newest model camera and picked up the tiny letter next to it. It carried a nice emotional message that almost brought Sayumi to tears.

"Sayu-chan. We weren't able to take more pictures when Koukai-kun was here. So take more pictures with your friends and be sure to send them over. Merry Christmas!"

Kagami patted the girl on the back and she blinked away the tears before starting the next event.

About a week ago, Sayumi forced the boys to play a little game of Secret Santa. She reminisced about how her family used to do that every year for Christmas. At first, Aomine outright disapproved of the idea. Murasakibara complained that it was too much of a hassle. But when Sayumi began her story about how she used to play and celebrate the holiday with Koukai-nii, the boys softened up and agreed to her idea.

Sayumi randomly lifted a red present topped with a purple bow. Kuroko claimed it and walked over to the tallest member present.

"Murasakibara-kun. Meri Kurisumasu! I hope you like it." The pale boy walked handed his present to the giant who nodded. The giant's face glowed when he unraveled the wrapping paper and discovered a jumbo box of his favorite sweets.

"Can I eat it now?" Without waiting, the excited boy opened a pack and started eating. Everyone looked at the purple-haired boy.

"Ah. I forgot to buy a present. Sorry Kine-chin."

Sayumi glared at Murasakibara for a few seconds before her expression mutated to a pout and then a sad face.

"Murasakibara-kun. Maybe you can open the present I gave you and share a pack of Nerunerunerune candy to Kineno-san," Kuroko advised.

And at that, Murasakibara almost began to cry until an idea hit him. He instantly slipped off the purple hairband around his wrist and walked to Sayumi. He picked up her hand and looped his hairband twice around her middle finger.

"I didn't have time to wrap it. Merry Christmas Kine-chin."

Sayumi smiled as she looked at the "ring."

"I like it. Thank you."

The now happy girl then strolled over to the blonde model and sheepishly smiled as she handed her present to him.

"Kise. I'm your Secret Santa. Merry Christmas."

Kise thanked Sayumi before unwrapping his present to discover a wallet. He opened it to examine its contents and found a picture of both him and Sayumi asleep. He looked up and grinned widely.

"Where'd you get this picture?" he asked curiously.

"My boss gave this to me for a Christmas gift. She took it when we both fell asleep after your modeling shoot. I made another photo. I thought it'd be nice to have a "imperfect" picture ever so often."

"Kinenocchi. I like it a lot. You're really thoughtful. Merry Christmas," Kise said warmly as he patted the girl on the head.

Kise then walked to pick up his present and held it out to Kagami. Kagami then proceeded to opening the present to discover a mirror.

"Is this a joke?" Kagami asked while staring at Kise. (Kagami=mirror)

"Only if you think it is."

Kagami frowned before picking up his present and shoving it to Midorima.

"Open it," Kagami ordered when he saw Midorima gulp at his present.

Upon opening it, Midorima lifted a horoscope calendar and the lucky item of the day: Santa Claus.

"I actually like it," Midorima stated as he examined his presents. "I was scared at first when Kagami was my "Secret Santa."

Everyone laughed as Kuroko held Kagami from attacking with the green-haired boy who was handing his present to Aomine.

Aomine opened the tiny box and picked up a blue satchel looking item.

"What the..."

"It's a lucky charm." Midorima tilted his glasses and confidently said, "You need it."

Aomine snorted and tossed Akashi his present. Akashi shook it and then turned to the navy-haired boy.

"Thanks for the wrist band. What color is it?"

"Blue."

"I like red."

The two boys looked at each other seriously. The observers didn't panic (only Sayumi did).

"But blue isn't bad," Akashi completed his sentence. "Thank you."

Aomine nodded as Akashi placed a rectangular gift into Kuroko's hand. Kuroko opened it and held out a comb.

"Akashi-kun. You still remember, huh?" (Super Saiyan hair)

Sayumi was the first to laugh and was joined in by the others. And right when everyone was smiling the brightest, the girl snapped a photo with her new camera.

Everyone turned to scold Sayumi for being a bad photographer.

"Kineno-san. Did I blink?"

"Kinenocchi. How many bad photos of me are you planning to collect?"

"You're not even in the picture, Sayu."

"Sayumi. Give it."

Sayumi obediently handed the camera to Akashi who tinkered with it for a few seconds. Afterwards, he pulled out the long stand from the box and placed the camera comfortably on it.

Everyone took queue and huddled next to the Christmas tree.

"Sayu."

Sayumi turned to look at Aomine who tossed her a basketball. Sayumi then put her arm around Kuroko.

"This way I can make sure you're here and visible in the picture."

"We got five seconds," Akashi warned.

5...

"Stop shuffling, Murasakibaracchi."

4...

"I'm too tall. The tree is poking me."

3...

"Shh...Smile guys."

2...

"I feel something moving."

1...

"Kagami. Forget about that and just smile."

0...

"Ah-choo!"

Flash.

"Ah. Kagami! Why'd you sneeze?"

"Who the **** brought in Nigou and what is he wearing?"

"I brought him, Kagami-kun." Kuroko replied quietly.

"I dressed him," Sayumi confessed humbly.

"Ruff!" Nigou pawed Akashi who picked him up. "Ruff!"

"He said Merry Christmas," Akashi translated.

"How would you understand?" Aomine challenged.

The shorter redhead then glared at Aomine who didn't back down.

"What a bunch."

Sayumi turned to look at Midorima stroking his Santa doll.

"You don't say." Sayumi folded her arms across her chest and smiled. This was a truly Merry Christmas.

I wish you were here too. Merry Christmas Koukai-nii.

Merry Christmas! This is not really pertaining to the story, but this is how I imagine the winter holiday for Sayumi and KnB boys to be. I hope I was able to bring laughter and smiles. -serianri
