Cordelia Chase looked at the building of hell they just saved the world. Honestly it was a very easy Apocalypse to stop and she suspects any other Apocalypse will be just as easy now. She looked up at her now blond hair making sure everything's OK in her car's mirror. Once she broke off from the Cordettes matching the desired look stopped bothering her.
Cordelia could only smile hearing a motorcycle pull up knowing the rider. She watched as Xander took his helmet off. "You're late, are you unarmed?"
Xander reached into his pocket. "Yeah, not unarmed anymore." He pulled out what would look like to most people an action figure and stealthily put it back.
Cordy smiled looking at him. "And what I asked for?"
"I'm still working on it." Xander replied. "So, are we caught up?"
"Oh yeah!" Cordy quickly bridged the gap not letting him off the bike and kissed him as two distinct throats cleared.
Xander and Cordy quietly broke apart seeing Willow Rosenberg in black denim jeans and a red duster on top similar to the dearly departed Spike's. "Oz, is there a particular reason you stopped where you did?"
"Yes, Willow told me to." Oz finished.
Xander could only smile at the joke and looked up seeing the last Sunnydale couple as Buffy landed a trail of energy surrounding her holding someone dear to her.
Xander smiled at the highlight of his day. "Oh, look at the blushing bride... and Buffy's here too."
The newly human Angel glared at Xander pretty sure he'd be in game face if he was still a vampire as he hopped off. "You know what Harris!"
"What's up soldier boy?" Xander asked.
"Well for starters, I'm older then you! So stop calling me boy!" Angel finished.
Xander shook his head. "No you're not, you're two months old."
Angel growled even without the demon he still has the strength now.
Cordelia shook her head in disbelief at how easily Xander got him. "Oh, so cranky!"
Willow shook her head and realized Xander that despite who went as who Xander could probably do this all day. She opened her hand as red energy coursed through it. "Xander"
Xander turned around and saw his bike surrounded by a red glowing aura. He reached into his pocket and pulled out the little action figure. "Hey, do not mess with the bike."
Willow's eyes shot up and waved her arm as the little action figure floated to her hand as she let out a high pitched squeal of delight.
Xander turned to Oz confused. "Ok, that was fast Willow jibberish even for me what did she say?"
OZ smiled getting to hear every sylable since Halloween. "She said how did you figure out Pym Particles when Tony couldn't?"
Xander smiled. "I didn't, it was much easier to break into Dr. Palmer's computer."
Willow smiled. "Ah, dwarf star matter."
"Yep" Xander answered easily enough.
Oz nodded, knowing Ray's studies it would have been the first place he went as well when Xander had the idea to put them together. "Oh, by the way the government and the Ronald McDonald house is still trying to track down Mr. X."
Xander shrugged his shoulders. "Thier welcome to try the path leads right back to that rich idiot and they'll likely believe he did it to get in a starlet's pants. If Uncle Sam wanted to spend that money they could have taken it out over the thirty years it collected interest."
"To be fair to a government 50 million is a small amount Xander. They wouldn't have noticed till it vanished."
The scoobies turned around seeing Giles who made the statement and Ms. Calendar walking alongside him.
Cordelia glared at Xander. All the pretty Jewelry she could have brought. "Yeah speaking of that you could have kept a lot more then you did. "
"Yeah, but from what I see, money makes people greedy, power hungry, and idiotic, mostly. Besides I have enough that it will grow in time."
Giles smiled and turned to Buffy. "So, how was the uh, birthday patrolling?"
Buffy grimaced at that nightmare of the Judge burning the gang. "We found the Judge, Spike, and Drusilla last night. Vaporized them before they could even figure out I was there."
Xander frowned. Did it ever occur to her that he wanted to get a piece of Spike's hyde for trying to take a chomp on him at parent's night. "Boy, Sunnydale is going to be docile for a while now."
Giles nodded. "If last time was any indication... we're fine for a while anyway."
The scoobies all laughed in relief seeing the big bad out of town and for a little bit they're free with little to no fight last night.
The laughter came to an end hearing the sound of a blaring horn foreign to all of them.
Buffy looked up at the sound of a blaring horn. "Ok, since when was the Purge an actual thing."
Willow looked to the sky she's not sure what that blaring horn was.
The scoobies watched Snyder leave the building a group of students behind him.
Snyder turned to Giles. "Mr. Giles, can you please take these students down to the basement."
Buffy watched him leave. Concern, compassion, a basic sense of empathy, who the hell was that? "Day keeps getting weirder."
Buffy turned to Cordelia and saw the cheerleader was almost pale as a ghost.
Cordy turned to Giles. "T-tell me I'm worng, tell me I'm mixing up Nat's memories with mine."
Giles took his glasses off and went to clean them.
Cordy pushed him into the wall tears running. "Asshole! I told you, Tell me I'm wong! Tell me I got stuff mixed up... Giles please!"
Xander just pulled her off and held her close letting her cry. "Let's go to the basement Cordy, until we go down the basement, we really don't know anything yet."
Cordy looked at him. "We both know you know what that sound means." The funeral quiet between the two flat out haunted the other scoobies not an insult thrown. "Let's go."
Buffy watched the two leave. They're flipping. "Giles, something horrible has happened hasn't it."
"Yes" Giles replied bluntly then asnwered honestly. "But I don't know what yet. So we should follow them to the basement."
Giles waited till the last of his kids were on their way to the basement before finally pucnching the wall leaving a crater in the wall and green veins in his skin. "All the good work they've done... just for this..."
Jenny's veins glowed red as she caught the hand knowing what this is. "Please, please don't lose it now. They're all going to need you, you, not the other guy."
Giles nodded taking a breath and followed her into thee basement.
Xander sat down, Cordy on his lap Snyder just walked by the two not even having it in him to yell. He walked by Angel and Buffy and simply dismissed the older guy as a troublemaker's taste and left Willow and Oz alone.
Snyder turned on the tv and the reaction was instant no one was looking to riot or make a scene at least.
Larry looked at the screen and shook his head. "It's a lie... IT HAS TO BE!"
Buffy collapsed to her legs being caught by Angel. What happened? How did they miss something like this?
Willow broke down completely sobbing to the ground. Oz's face even lost the stopic nature and squeezed Willow's hands that much harder.
Cordy and Xander leaned into each other and held each other close just to make sure each other are there.
Xander looked at the screen he always viewed Sunnydale as a more rational slice of hell then certain places mainly because they put down the monsters. It keeps something like this from happening as Xander shook but tried to stay confident but eventually tears ran down his eyes as well. This was too much just watching the news.
"Disaster in Metropolis: Millions Dead, Clown Prince of Crime has last laugh"
Buffy's mouth was hung open. "Is that what I think it is?"
Xander grimly nodded and Angel shook his head in disgust before he said. "Yeah, Joker nuked Metropolis."
Cordy frowned. "I got to be honest I never thought there would be anything like this again. Not after the last time in Japan this... just... god."
Xander quietly watched as the news headline changed.
"Joker Dead: Man of Steel Snaps
Xander smiled. "Ding dong, the freak is dead."
Willow walloped him on the arm. "Xander!"
Xander rubbed his arm glaring at the redhead. "What? He killed how many people, bludgened Robin and then blew the crap out of him, and now this, Are you seriously going to tell me the world's a worst place without him in it?"
Oz looked at his own fingers superspeeding away from a bite from his cousin seems like nothing now. He looked up and saw Angel pondering his hands as well. "Trying not to sound mean but any idea what's going to happen now being the only one of us to really, well, you know."
Angel looked at him, he thinks that was the most Oz has ever talked. "I'd feel a lot better if it was Batman that did it. He looks like he's done it before."
Buffy looked at him confused. "What's the big deal about who did it? As long as someone did."
Angel shook his head getting bad Drusilla flashbacks. "He's lost Lois Lane, he's lost everyone he's ever protected in Metropolis, he's taken a life. It's going to change now. Everything is going to change."
Xander shook his head. It's the Joker, he's worse then some of the demons they've fought. Superman might wear a black costume for a couple months and that's all that will happen.
