"Remember the day I accidentally dropped your notebook in the fountain?"
"A-Ah...!" Ayano exclaims as she saw the notebook in the fountain, all wet. She quickly took it and examined it thoroughly.
"Sorry..." Shintaro apologised as he scratched the back of his neck. "I didn.'t mean to..." He evaded her eyes in shame.
"I thought you'd yell at me,"
"Ehehe~!" Ayano giggled, "It''s alright Shintaro-kun!" She waved off, "Good thing there wasn't a lot of notes here ehehe..." she sweat dropped.
"You're not mad..?" Shintaro asked, not believing the girl.
"Eh?" She tilts her head to the side, "Why would I?"
"But you didn't."
"N-nothing..." He replies.
"Remember that day I accidentally spilled soda all over your homework?"
"A-ah!" Shintaro exclaimed. "S-sorry..." He apologises, rubbing the back of his head.
Ayano looked shocked and Shintaro felt a twist of guilt in his gut.
"I thought you'd hate me,"
Ayano looked at him with a smile, "It's alright!" he assured him, "Really!" She smiles, optimistic as ever. "I have it on my notebook too anyways~!"
"But you didn't."
"Remember that day I went home and you followed me then it rained even though I said it wouldn't."
Shintaro looked guiltily at the ground, knowing that the girl would follow him either ways, he should've stayed at school. They wouldn't have been soaked in the rain if he did.
"I thought you'd say, 'I told you so.' "
He felt someone tapped him and looked at Ayano who was smiling at him brightly.
"Don't sulk there, Shintaro-kun!" She laughed. "It was unexpected! hehe~!"
"But you didn't."
"Remember that day that I forgot to tell you that there was a homework and you got scolded?"
"Ms. Tateyama !, please explain yourself!" The teacher scolded her in front of their classmates, Shintaro's gut twisted in guilt.
"I-I'm sorry, I was absent yesterday and-"
"You could've asked your classmates!" The teacher barked, she pointed to Ayano's seat. "Go seat down and I'll let you through this time!"
Ayano walked to her seat as she laughed nervously at her classmates who whispered, 'you should've asked us.' She sat down on her chair and smiled sadly.
"I thought you'd hate me."
"Sorry..." Shintaro muttered, loud enough for her to hear.
She looked at him with a smiled.
"But you didn't."
...and waved it off, mouthing 'It's alright.'
"Yes there were a lot of things that you didn't do but put up with me,"
"Shintaro-kun..!"
"Laughed with me,"
"Ehehehe~! You really are smart, Shintaro-kun!"
"Stayed with me."
"I won't leave you, Shintaro-kun."
"There were a lot of things that I wanted to make up to you,"
"I'll...go say sorry to her tomorrow..." Shintaro muttered as he layed down on his bed and slowly closed his eyes.
"When you come back the next day,"
"Guess she isn't here yet...unusual." He muttered, looking at his wrist watch as the bell was about to ring. It was very unlikely for Ayano to be late.
He then noticed his classmates cry and others were holding flowers.
"hmm...?" He thought as he saw one of his classmates has a bouquet of flowers.
"But you didn't."
...and placed it on Ayano's desk.
