Remember Me Then
By Chronic Guardian
A/N: Written for the Twelve Shots of Summer week 8(Too Far Gone).
This time, you get something completely out of my style range: An epic narrative poem. Because of the lovely poetry produced by Aviantei in the TWEWY fandom, I felt inspired on the subject and thought I'd try my hand at it.
Enjoy,

I am lost
From my name, from my face,
Everything.
He stole it from me. He, who I once taught and sheltered and prided.
He cast me here.
Darkness surrounds me, Darkness in nothingness. Darkness in zero.
I am nothing.
And I've failed you.
}{
Forget me, my friend, forget 'till the end.
When it is over, remember me then.
}{
I spend years slinking further into the shadows.
He put me there, but I didn't fight it.
When I fell from the light,
And into this nothing that is me,
I closed my eyes and fell further.
}{
Forget me, my friend, forget 'till the end.
When it is over, remember me then.
}{
There is a boy who walks in twilight.
His path is twisted
Around nothings that were never realized,
And friendships that were never formed.
And yet his heart blazes like starlight.
He fights for things that were never his to begin with.
I sent him into oblivion while feeling a heart beat that was never there.
}{
Forget me, my friend, forget 'till the end.
When it is over, remember me then.
}{
There is a boy who looks for light,
Who hopes like a candle,
Standing against the wind.
He doesn't realize the power he holds,
The power I crave, the power I need.
He wants for healing.
I want for destruction.
As he sleeps, I design his fate as my revenge.
His tears drop unheard.
}{
Forget me, my friend, forget 'till the end.
When it is over, remember me then.
}{
There is a boy who waits for dawn,
Who waits in the night, guarding the dreamers.
He covers his eyes with cloth,
and swallows his tears before they form.
Dawn hasn't come for us, but he still waits.
I put on a smile as he stumbles, eyes bending down away from the horizon.
He will learn,
We are the same.
}{
Forget me, my friend, forget 'till the end.
When it is over, remember me then.
}{
We are the same.
The stolen hope, the bitter darkness.
The blood I saw on his hands covers my own.
I'm sorry. So sorry.
A heart that was stone,
Crumbles to dust.
I can't give it back. I can't repay the year I've taken from them.
I can never make them forgive me.
Who is there to forgive anyway?
I am nothing.
The noble man I once was,
The good man people called "wise",
Was nothing but a fool all along.
Only in memories was I ever more.
In truth,
I am nothing.
}{
Forget me, my friend, forget 'till the end.
When it is over, remember me then.
A/N: Our narrative character for this piece was Ansem the Wise/DiZ. I have an idea of who he's talking to, but (as should be done with most poetry) I'll let you interpret the details for yourself.
Best regards,
