Phantomhive really creeps me out. To be honest, I can't imagine him having friends, yet here he is, talking freely—I think I saw him smile—with some blonde kid I don't know. And I know pretty much everyone.

The blonde kid introduced himself with a few seconds of silence and then—

"Don't be givin' me the evils!"

I'm not sure what that's from, but everyone laughed, so I did too. I'll google it later. Gotta fit in, right? Because, y'know, I can totally do that.

Looking back on today, I'm pretty sure Phantomhive and the blonde—Alois Trancy was his name—glanced at me.

I'm pretty sure it's nothing—I'm pretty well known around Warwick for knowing who everyone is—but I can't help but be cautious. To my knowledge, nobody at my school except the teachers knows and I want it to stay that way. Like I really want it to stay that way.

…|…

"Baines," Phantomhive was approaching me. I stiffened only slightly. It wasn't that he made me nervous, just… okay, he made me nervous. He's just so monotone to everyone but Trancy.

Phantomhive pulled out his cellphone, which confused me for a moment before he pulled up a picture—amateur, obviously quickly taken—of a girl I recognized as Amy Nathans, a girl who's sometimes bullied for "flinching too much."

I smirked, even though I knew I couldn't pull it off. "Payment?" I prompted, lusting for the amazing taste that was a pixie stick.

Phantomhive might've rolled his eye, but I'm not sure. He pulled two pixie sticks out of his pocket and held them out. I grabbed them quickly, pouring one into my mouth immediately. Yum.

"Amy Nathans," I said, tongue burning. I tore a scrape of paper from a unused notebook and wrote down her address. I don't even know where I got her address, honestly. I just know. I could be a real creep with the info I have.

"Here," I said. "Not sure why you would need it…"

I listed her parents jobs and he walked off without a word of thanks.

"Rude," I muttered.

...

Later that night I swear I saw someone in red grinning on a rooftop, but that's probably just me.

Red is my least favorite color.
