Chapter 9: Of Land and Tea Pt. 2

Fixing her horse, for the journey east, Charity paused as she thought over how she would follow Connor along with the possibility of meeting up with him, that for a moment…Charity was scared.

Seeing the young girl pause Achilles hobbled over to her placing a hand on her shoulder saying, "It is nervous at first especially since you're going out on your own for the first, but also meeting up someone who's glare could submit the most ferocious bear."

Looking to him, she had come to be thankful to the man as she believed he was the only one she could let her guard down around, without fear of worry or lack of understanding. Letting the reins go Charity slumped on a haystack saying, "Indeed I am a bit nervous, but not from what I can get into, I'm not that fragile girl from just some months ago…now I can handle wayward colonists or males. It's just, Achilles what will happen when I meet up with Connor? I doubt he'd be too thrilled to have me help him. And well I've already accepted him seeing me as nothing more than wind."

Listening Achilles looked away for a moment recalling that Connor stated he would start eating with them again, patting her shoulder in a reassuring gesture that showed things would be fine.

"Listen Charity, just take things slow and if you do happen upon Connor, just tell him I sent you and you're with him. Albeit telling him in your own special way." Giving a wink, it was his way of saying this was an opportune moment to bridge the gap between them while also showing her skill.

Feeling a little more better she pushed herself to her feet mounting her horse, exiting out the stable Charity turned to Achilles saying, "I'm off, and I promise, I'll look out for Connor and make sure he doesn't cause up too much trouble." Giving a wink, she trotted off on to her first assignment along with what would come her way.

Boston,

Finally arriving, Connor set off to search for Sam, walking through the throngs of colonist who were standing around talking mostly about the tea tax, the whole thing just pissed him off even more. But he needed to remain focused for the matter at hand was stopping William Johnson from purchasing his people's home, going near the docks he spotted the man he was looking for engaged in conversation with two other men who seemed adamant about their words.

"Look, sanctions and demonstrations won't suffice, Sam. We need to ACT. And I'm talking about more than a sternly worded letter." Spoke a pudge man wearing a deep brown tricorn hat.

"Paul's right, if we play it the normal way nothing will get done and it will get worse for us!" Said the other.

Sam looking between them could see the frustration in their eyes, replying, "Gentlemen I understand your annoyance and frustration, but realize my being reluctant is because of the risks taken if we choose to wake the hornet's nest."

The two other men just shook their heads as nothing would be done sitting her talking in circles, Sam hearing footsteps spotted Connor coming their way thankful for his arrival that he nearly burst with excitement at the man saying, "Ah, Connor pleasure seeing you again. What brings you back to Boston?"

Connor not paying attention to the other men gave a lift of his chin simply saying, "You."

Taking that as a much-needed cue to leave Sam bid two gentleman good day as he leads Connor down the path, giving a wave as the pudge man named Paul called after about hitting 'The Tories' since they sting harder. Walking along Sam inquired more from his friend as to what was it he needed his help with.

Dismounting from her horse Charity tied it to a post and paid some local boys to care for it until she got back while sternly threatened no to sell it. Walking along the cobblestoned streets she kept her eyes peeled for any sign of a man with blue and white robes dashing by, but so far so good. Looking between the people and herself, she could see the effects of what the sudden spike in tea taxes were doing to the people, that even she herself mutter how ridiculous the crown was being.

'I can't believe King George is just allowing Parliament to pass this without so much as having someone be the voice for the us! This isn't right…. I can share their sentiments.' She thought to herself.

Wandering deeper into the city she started to worry as there was sign of Connor until a loud commotion followed by what sounded like French obscenities, turning towards the direction, Charity came face to face with red coats chastising a French man. As she went closer she saw the man scream out his window how he wasn't going to give up his home that if the king wanted it to sail across the sea and get it himself.

"Les Anglais maldoux pensent que cela peut me forcer ma maison?" Shouted the man, as he threw a piss pot on the window filled with obvious excrement.

Keeping an eye on the scene Charity kept ready to interfere should the guards try something, inching closer she was stopped by the image of a tall figure already handling the situation, Connor. Hanging back, she made a quick climb on some crates as she watched him easily dispatch the two men patronizing the raving French man, smiling she decided for now to keep watch intrigued, by her oblivious partner.

The home owner coming out giving the last man a good beating who was then finished by his surprise ally gave the robed man a pat on the back. "Merci, I appreciate that if wasn't for you mon ami I probably would either be dead or dragged off to prison. Still I'd fight them even when locked. Anyways I'm needed elsewhere but if we meet again I'll get you an ale."

With one last pat, the other man was off leaving Connor to assess the area, as he looked over the dead men his mind was puzzled because of two things, he thought his mind playing tricks for a second it looked as though he saw Charity. Thinking it was impossible shaking his head continued to his destination. Peeking up from a tall crate the girl smirked at his confusion, hopping down she kept tailing after him ducking each time he turned around, watching him go out of his mind.

Stepping in the tavern Connor looked behind him once more as he walked crashing into a bar stool, pulling himself up he was met with a concern mixed with confused gaze from Sam along with his companion who was introduced as William Molineux along with Stephane Chapheau the man he helped earlier. Giving exchanged greetings Sam asked, "Uhhh, Connor is everything alright? You look spooked out."

Waving a hand, he replied, "I am fine it's just…. I thought I saw someone roughly familiar here who shouldn't be walking around. Anyway, I here to inquire where William Johnson is that I may find him."

William scoffing into his cup of ale answered, "I'll gladly tell you, off sneaking tea from the boats while charging a ridiculous price. One of his men tried to sell to me but I refused, the stamp on the bag is a clear give away its tea from England."

"Do you know where his now?"

Shaking his William stated he had no clue since her never met him, when Sam inquired why finding Johnson was important to him, only then after learning the situation he nodded understanding.

"I see, well no doubt these instances are connect and from what I wager, Johnson plans to use the profits from the tea sales to make the purchase of your people's land. It that's the case Connor I suggest you go over to the docks, no doubt there's tons of crates of illegal tea waiting to be sold." He said taking a swig of his first ale.

Nodding Connor bid the men good day as he dashed off, bumping into a man carrying a crate he saw the smuggled tea, on the ground. Turning his sights on man he made his way towards the docks.

Back inside the tavern a figure sitting far off reading a paper set it down revealing an intrigued Charity who heard the exchange. Leaving her spot, she would slip past Sam and William with only Stephane catching a quick glimpse, surprised that she was in there, taking not of her exit he figured she was in a hurry.

Going down the same path Charity eyes were fixated on two things, Connor and the docks, and the street was leading her to both.

A/N: Okay that's end of this two parter wanting to set it up for the next main chapter, and if anyone is wondering, yes, I will have some Charity based chapters only what they will be about…well that's spoiler isn't it? Romance? Oh, that's coming just not too early like to keep the suspense going

Special Note: If anyone was wondering Charity's age in this part from when the story started she is 15 while Connor is 17 so a two-year difference between the two but still childish.

Charity: Ugh! How rude! Says the twenty-MmmhhpjH! (mouth covered)

Me: If you don't want a date with backspace dragon I suggest you keep my age hushed!

*Ahem! ...Anyways I hope you all enjoyed this and as always R&R
