Dante Carlino, age seven, his older sister Remy, and his Aunt Sofia were sitting in the waiting room at BCUH. They were there
for the happiest reason of all to be in a hospital's waiting room.

"In just a little while," Sofia said to Dante, "you'll be a big brother."

"Are you excited?" Remy asked.

"Yes," Dante said. "I've wanted a little brother or sister for a long time."

Joe walked into the waiting room with a huge smile on his face.

"Is the baby here, Daddy?"

"How's Mom doing?"

"Is it a boy or a girl?"

"It's a girl." Joe was almost crying for joy. "A beautiful little girl."

"Can I see her?" Dante asked.

"You can all see her, as soon as they get her cleaned up," said Joe.

A little later, Joe, Dante, Remy, and Sofia came into Paulina's room. Paulina, smiling and crying at the same time, was holding her newborn daughter,
who was wrapped in a pink blanket. Everybody kissed Paulina.

"Can I see the baby now?" Dante asked.

"Of course you can," Paulina answered, moving the blanket.

Dante smiled down at his little sister and whispered, "Hi, Bambina."
