Chapter 10: Hard Labor

Raph groaned as he started to come to, his face radiating in pain as he reached up to rub the sore flesh. The second thing he then felt is the rough surface beneath him, which prompted the red clad turtle to sit up, hunched over as he continued to rub the pain away.

"Finally up," a familiar voice said to him softly.

Stopping his actions Raph then opened his eyes, and saw his brothers before them. Mikey and Leo sitting side by side and Don kneeling down by them, checking them over it seems. Deciding to check their surroundings he was glad to see they were back inside their cell, so apparently they were brought back while they were out.

"How are you feeling?" Don asked as he moved over to this brother.

"Face is sore," was all he said.

The genius turtle shook his head as he looked at his brother's face, "I wouldn't doubt it, they had to hit you in the face a couple of times before you went out.

"Really?" Raph raised an eye in surprise. "All I remember is the first punch and nothing else."

"It's true," Leo chuckled, staying where he is. "You started to get up and that angered the guards a lot, so they had to hit you again."

"Raph I need to take off your mask if I want to see the damage better," Don said, and with a nod from his brother the purple clad turtle slipped off the red fabric, revealing the emerald skin beneath.

"What happened?" he frowned as he looked at Don's face, a bit of dry blood was on his lip.

"Oh…that? Nothing really," he inspected his brother's eyes and assessed the damage. "They decided to knock us out as well once you were down."

"What!" he responded in a loud voice, anger now taking him at the thought of the Triceratons hurting his brothers more.

"Raph calm down!" Mikey said as he stood up, a bruise could be seen on his cheek now. That only added more wood to the fire.

"Why! It was my fault to begin with they shouldn't have laid a finger on any of you!" he shouted out, heaving as thoughts of vengeance filled his mind. They would pay for hurting his brothers, no one lays a hand on them, except him and only if they deserve it like Mikey.

"Well they didn't see it that way….hmm…Raph your left eye is black, so it'll be sore for a while," Don explained as he put his brother's mask back on.

"I don't care about that, I can take pain," The emerald green turtle expressed as his teeth gritted.

"Raph, we're fine it was nothing big," Leo tried to explain as he got to his feet.

Said turtle's hands clenched into fists hard that they began to shake, that was going to fly with him. "Yes it is!"

It was then their cell door opened, revealing several guards, a couple armed with laser blasters. The four turtles turned and looked at them, not moving at all since they weren't sure what was happening. It took a lot of will power to stop Raph from just charging at the guards, wanting revenge for hurting his brothers. But he knew that if he did it'll cause them even more pain, which is what he didn't want.

The head guard took a step in the cell, baton in hand, "Come, now!"

"What's going on?" Leo asked, getting a bit defensive now.

"I said you all would pay for what you did, now it's time to collect. Now come!" he held up the key card, which made them all jump a bit, but luckily the button wasn't pressed. Knowing it wasn't a good idea to waste time, they started to file out of the cell one by one, with Raph being the last, growling at the guards.

"March!" One of them said as they roughly shoved Don forward.

"Hey!" Raph called out, but the guard was anticipating that.

"Just give me a reason to beat you down," he growled, which stopped the hothead, he's just glaring at them before being shoved forward.

"Raph, I know you want to fight back, but we can't, there's nothing we can do," Leo whispered, trying to cool his brother down.

"They will get theirs," he growled as they were forced down the hall.

Soon they arrived at the cafeteria, which didn't seem that packed, since there was only a handful of other prisoners inside. It was then they were all surprised as Mikey and Leo had bowls of wax and brushes roughly shoved at them, while Don and Raph had brooms thrown at them. Holding the items the four looked at the guard for an explanation.

"Not only do you all lose your dinner for today, but you all pulled clean up duty around the prison, now get to work!" the head guard shouted at them. "And don't make us tell you twice."

The four brothers frowned as they were instructed to work, knowing they would have to do it or else. "Guys, this may be a good thing, just go along with it for now," Leo said.

"Are you kidding," Raph whispered back in an angered voice.

"Now!" The guard shouted, roughly shoving one of them from behind.

"Just keep your eyes peeled for anything," Leo responded as they reluctantly did as they were told. Leo and Mikey started to scrub the floors with the wax while Raph and Don started to sweep the floors. All the while being watched by at least three guards, and chances were more of them at a moment's notice.

At least the four of them were keeping an eye out to see anything that could help them to their advantage. Leo continued to scrub on his hands and knees but let his eyes wander, mostly keeping an eye on the guards, trying to work out their formation.

"Hmm…they keep the exits covered…as well as the food, so chances are no one tries anything funny," He thought to himself. "No one can escape at all, nor sneak any extra food. And from the looks of it they don't have any kind of ariel view of us, so chances are they can't see all of us. It might be possible to sneak small items out." Leo then turned his attention back to the task just as one of the guards looked his way, yet it didn't matter, he got what he needed.

Meanwhile Raph and Don swept the dust off the floor, as well as keeping their eyes open while trying not to look suspicious. The emerald green turtle's teeth grit as he wasn't too focused, anger completely on his mind because of how they were being treated. It was his fault the small riot started and now his brothers are getting punished as well instead of him. Now it couldn't be helped and he had to do what he could to help protect them, and what could help most is finding a way out of here.

Both he and Don watched as a new guard came in, a smirk on his face as he treaded over a clean part of the floor they just swept, dirt falling on it. "Oops," he said.

Raph growled and just about to lunge at him, but Don got in front to stop him, "don't."

"They are asking for it Don," Raph hissed, body tense.

"That's what they want us to do, they're basically baiting us into trying to attack them," he responded. "Don't let them get to you."

Raph didn't say anything, as much as he didn't want to do nothing Don was right, so he went back to Sweeping.

Sighing in relief Don resumed his labor, but this time he focused on one of the guards, who had a keycard on his belt. This is the first time ever that the genius turtle is able to get a good look at it, and knowing that he didn't have much time he studied it the best he could. From memory he knew that every time the prisoners got out of hand they would always reach for it then press one of the buttons. From what he could tell one of them might control the cuffs while another activated the tattoos on them.

He went back to looking at the floor as the guard turned his way. Good thing Don managed to see what he needed to see. "So they control the prisoners with the keycards only…if that's the case does that mean we can remove the cuffs and tattoos with them?" He thought to himself as he continued his work, noting the discovery he might have made.

Mikey frowned as he was still hunched over on his hands and knees scrubbing away. He had just finished getting rid of a caked over substance and sighed as he stood up straight, hand going to the back of his shell as a few pops were heard. "Man, being hunched over like that is really bad for my shell," he said to himself silently, but was then smacked on the back of the head, "OW!"

"Who said you could have a break!" one of the guards growled at him.

Raph saw this and snarled, stalking over to the guard with his raised broom, "Don't you-AHRG!" he cried out as his tattooed turned on, causing him to drop his weapon and fall to his knees as the electricity flowed through him.

The red clad turtle was left a shaking, panting mess as the electricity stopped as one of the guards came over and kicked him in the side, causing a painful groan to come out of him. "You best know your place, your actions have consequences." He then reached over to a bowl that was on one of the tables and pushed it over, spilling the contents all over the floor. A wicked grin on his face as he walked across the mess, getting sloppy foot prints and making even more of a mess, "Now clean this up!"

Raph's teeth gritted as he tried to push himself up with his shaky arms, wanting to such much as to go and beat them to a pulp. He was surprised to feel two sets of hands help him up, looking he found that Leo and Mickey helped him.

"Raph there's nothing we can do," Leo whispered to him. "I'm sorry to say but this is all we can do."

"But Leo we-"

"Thanks," Mikey interrupted his brother, expressing his gratitude, which caught the emerald turtle off guard.

"What?" Both of his eyes rose.

"Even if it meant you got hurt…still thank you for stand up for me," The orange clad turtle gave a smile before walking back to resume his assigned task.

Hearing what his little brother had said caused Raph to sigh deeply as he decided to let go of his anger, just for now. As much as he wanted to cause more of a fuss he didn't want to get his brothers into any more trouble, and anymore pain like he experience just now. So he picked up the fallen broom and reluctantly resumed his task.

"Wise choice," The guard had said before he nodded to the others that were in the room. They all then took the leftover food that remained on the tables and knocked them onto the ground, creating more of a mess for them. "Clean all of this, you're not leaving until it's all gone!"

All four brothers all glared at their captors, hands tightening over their cleaning items as more work was made for them. They knew that this wouldn't be the end, and they were sure to create more of a mess for them to clean.

A/N: Hope you like. I'm trying to come up with fresh ideas but this is the best i'm coming up with. Now sadly there's only one or two more chapters left in this story. And don't worry I thought on a way to end it, that'll make sense. Thank you for sticking by this story, I appreciate it. Till next time.
