Jim fidgeted with his cuff links as he waited for Bones in the small diner. The place wasn't much but the food was damn good and nostalgic in a way. It was Jim's first time back to Riverside and as much as he hated the place it had its moments. As he looked out the cloudy window, he noticed that the diner was located right next to where he crashed his bike. He shivered at the thought of that being his last moment. Of never leaving Riverside. Of never getting to be with Bones. Bones… he should be here by now.

"I hope he's alright," Jim worried incessantly.

Bones was supposed to get here an hour ago.

As the food steadily got colder, so did Jim. His worry turned to anger and doubt. Maybe Bones was having second thoughts. Maybe things were moving too fast. Maybe-

Jim whipped his head around hearing the bell above the door go off.

"Speak of the devil…" he muttered.

Bones looked good. Like really, really good. He was wearing a suit, just like Jim, but his looked like it was made for him. The jacket hugged the curves and lines of his chest and the pants… well, you know.

"A picture would last longer," Bones smirked.

Damn him.

Noticing the worry on Jim's face, Bones sat opposite him in the small booth and cradled one of his hands.

"I didn't forget, Jim," Bones smiled softly.

Jim blushed, "I know… I just… I worry."

"I'm sorry, darlin', had to deal with a last minute patient."

They slipped into a comfortable silence and Jim got lost in his thoughts until he noticed Bones reaching for something in the inside pocket of his jacket.

{It couldn't be…}

And Bones pulled out a small felt box.

{Is it?}

He slid out of the cramped booth and crouched on one knee.

{I can't believe this}

"Jim… I hope this isn't too soon, but, will you marry me?"

{Yes}

Jim leaped forward and captured Bone's lips.

A damn small town.
