Hanna didn't sleep a wink that night after her 'date' and then her sudden engagement to Akisame. Her mind was too worried by various things for her to even bother with sleep. First and foremost in her mind was the knowledge that she would have to wait at least a month before calling her parents to let them know that she was engaged.
The reason for this was to allow her enough time to get to know her future husband and see what kind of person he was. That way she'd have plenty of time to break things off if she needed too without feeling even more pressure from her parents.
Another reason was that she just sort of wanted to do things her own way as far as planning her future with the man. She wanted little to no outside interference.
Another thing she worried over was how Akisame would handle specific members of her family when he met them. She wasn't terribly worried about her dad and brother's being more of an issue than they normally were, which only left them. The assholes and bastards/bitches and punks who would do anything to see her hurt.
Who absolutely hated her and her parents and siblings and would do anything to see them all dead, dead, dead.
What would he do when confronted by such pure hatred and malice? Akisame, himself gave her the overall impression of being a pretty honest, straight forward and stand up type of guy. And she didn't want him to be troubled by those who would harm her and her family.
And then there was last but not least- her past history would be dredged up by them in an attempt to ruin her relationship with Akisame. After all, she didn't know his terribly well at this point, but depending on how things went between them there was a strong possibility that once her history was brought up in it's entirety- that he may decide he didn't want someone as defective as her for a wife.
He had pretty much hinted that he knew something earlier during their date by his comment and quick apology. But she didn't know just how much he knew. Did he know about the rape? Her pregnancy? Miscarriage? Her history with drugs? The cutting?
What exactly did he know?
She wished she knew. But unfortunately she didn't. And she knew that unless he knew everything their relationship would never be able to move forward. Sighing, she rolled over onto her side and blinked when the pink stone in her engagement ring caught the faint light.
Studying it as she turned the band this way and that, causing the stone to sparkle brightly. It really was a nice ring. She thought to herself. The band was antique white gold with little flowering vines woven in an intricate pattern around the setting where the one of the prongs had carefully been shaped to look like a butterfly settled on the stone as if it were resting from a long flight.
The detail work on the ring was amazing. And the stone, though not obscenely big nor terribly small, was a wonderful addition to the setting.
It's an ring that many would kill to have. Lovely, intricate, delicate... And it also came with the heavy burden of responsibility. And since she was the one wearing it- it was her responsibility.
She would have to sit him down somewhere the next time she saw him, and tell him everything.
Dawn came much sooner than expected for Hanna, especially when she had spent all night lying in her bed thinking about this and that and everything in between. It was around seven thirty that she rolled out of bed and went and got dressed in her usual work outfit.
A dark V neck green knit sweater over and black spaghetti strap cotton top, a pair of faded jeans and some black leather slip on shoes. After which she went into the bathroom and brushed her long pale hair, then her teeth, and then went about putting on a little bit of make-up. A nice pastel colored eye shadow, soft pink blush, and lip gloss- anything else was considered overkill on her.
After which she then picked up her favorite hair clip and used it to put her hair up in a loose twist style that she clipped into place before moving out of her bathroom to go grab a pair of earrings to go with her outfit. Deciding that since she was in a green mood today that she would wear her favorite pastel green and emerald colored dangle crystal and sterling silver earrings.
Once done putting them in, she left her bedroom to go grab her apartment keys and her wallet and then checked the clock on the wall to see what the time was she then left her apartment and locked the door behind her knowing that even though she was leaving a tad bit early it would take a little bit for her to get the store set up and ready for customers.
