The four of them walked into the gym and drew the attention of everyone that was already there and gathered around the coach.
"Took you four long enough, the other team is probably changing by now and we don't even have our starting line up for this game planned yet."
For a few minutes the coach talked about the other teams play style with a basic debriefing of them. When the coach came to the point of deciding who would be starting then some of the second years started to argue over whom would be the best for going against Seirin. The coach calmed them down after yelling that none of them would be playing if they kept fighting over who would start. Once the team calmed down the coach announced that the starting players would be Konoshita, Shiroha, Midorima, Yuuki; a third year on the team, and Sata; a first year. The team dispersed and went on practicing their shots and passes. Shiroha and Konoshita went off together to practice their passes seeing as how they were both starting. This left Kuroko with Aomine, Kise, Murasakibara, and Akashi. The five of them were casually taking shots and doing different passes when the double doors leading into the gym clicked open and Seirin walked in.
Seirin stopped walking as soon as they entered the gym. Their reaction was similar to every other team they had played so far. When they saw the group of talented colourful haired players they all stopped. Some even showed the shock on their faces and in their actions. Seirin wasn't all that different with their expressions. Except some of them clearly showed more shock than others.
After a few awkward moments that were filled with wondering glances to the other side of the gym and an awkward bow in the middle the game had started. It was a quiet practice game; everyone in the gym could feel that the atmosphere was heavy with complex feelings and unasked questions. It was just after the third quarter with Himitsu leading like usual when the lights started to flicker. The teams took a break and sent one of the players to check what it looked like outside. After a few more minutes they returned and reported that the sky was filled with black, ominous storm clouds and they could see that the rain was fast approaching. The teams both went to back to playing after the break. Seirin managed to steal the lead but Himitsu was quick on their feet and took over the lead once again. Both teams were trying to finish the game early so that they could all return back to the dorms and their homes before the eye of the storm hit but it was the last 10 seconds of the last quarter when the lights flickered once again and then went out completely. A few screams broke through the darkness and the sound of the ball being dropped echoed around the gym followed by the loud roar of thunder.
It was merely a few seconds before the emergency lights flickered on and they illuminated all of them standing in the gym looking at one another for an explanation. The Himitsu coach walked to the center, calling for everyone's attention. He announced that due to the severity of the storm that everyone who didn't live in the vicinity of the school would have to stay in the dorms for the night. Lastly, he added that they could all leave at once to go find their sleeping arrangements for the night, the cleanup of the gym could wait till the morning.
Members from both teams collided as they headed out into the halls to the changing rooms to collect their things. Some of the members from Himitsu even choosing to get changed in what little light they had from the emergency lights and their phones, while others grabbed their clothes and ran through the heavy rain to the dorms, most choosing to make a run for it and then shower and get changed instead. Kuroko went to the changing room with the rest of his team and grabbed the bag that he had left there from earlier. Shiroha pulled Kuroko from the room after grabbing their things and went into the hall to look out the doors towards the dorms.
"It's really coming down now huh?" Shiroha was observing the outside sky with wide eyes. He even brushed aside his long bangs so he could see more. "Wish I had my phone to take a picture of it looking like that."
Kuroko nodded beside him, not really in the mood for talking at the moment, especially not when it was storming which meant he had to stay at the same place as his old team even if they were in different buildings. He was about to step outside with Shiroha before someone bumped into his shoulder, hard, making him stumble forwards a few steps. When Kuroko looked up all he saw was the back of one of Seirin's team members. One the back he could make out the number 10. After watching the other figure fade into the rain he finally started to run with Shiroha towards where they would be staying. The image of Kagami running away from him stuck in his mind and one thought accompanied it.
'Why did Kagami's back seem so small?'
AN:
Ahh, I'm sorry about the break I took from writing this and how long it took me to get this up! Though, I haven't forgot about it!
It's a short chapter but hopefully I will be writing more for this and uploading regularly.
