A/N: As I was typing this it occurred to me that Menma might have been cremated, so I'd like to point out that some people have gravestones despite being cremated… let's just pretend Menma is on those people.
"You're here early," chimed Naruko, embracing Jinta from behind. It appears he had been waiting for her at the front of the cemetery for quite some time as there were deep shoe steps engraved on the ground from where he was standing moments ago. Their surroundings were completely covered in snow.
"Y..Yeah."
She turned to face him and was surprised to see that his face had become completely red from her display of intimacy. This in turn made her blush instinctively as well. Upon further inspection, she noticed that he was starting to develop bags under his eyes again. "Did you not get any sleep last night?" she asked, out of concern for his wellbeing.
"Not even a wink," he admitted to her. "How about you?"
Naruko slumped against the wall and sighed. "Me neither, but hey, if this keeps up maybe we should start a new club together called the Super Sleepyheads."
""Super Sleepheads," huh?" Jinta murmured with a half-smile. "Oh that's right, Anaru did you bring the—"
But before Jinta could finish what he was saying, Naruko shoved a bag closer to his face and made a peace sign. "Say no more," she grinned.
Finding Meiko's grave wasn't particularly difficult or anything, despite the fact that many gravestones were at large covered in snow. It had become somewhat of a tradition recently for members of the Super Peace Busters to visit her whenever they had some time to spare. Other than continuing to talk about her (whenever the time felt appropriate), visiting her grave was their other way of preventing her existence from being forgotten.
Despite this, Jinta and Naruko walked much slower than they usually did, until they eventually reached their location.
Jinta swallowed hard, as he began to realize just what he had came here to do. Keep it together, he told himself trying his hardest, to suppress his emotions. His heart was pounding faster than it had ever been before.
After taking in a deep breath he gave Naruko a nod to tell her that he was ready.
Using his hand to wipe the snow which had accumulated near her gravestone since his last visit, he carefully opened the bag and removed the plastic which had been wrapped to hold the contents from spilling. He placed the Ken-chan ramen next to her grave.
Jinta recalled how she wanted to eat some last time, but he was unable to find any near his house so he ended up buying a variety of other things. It baffled him how happy she had gotten from receiving such items.
He suddenly bowed down to her grave and apologized. "I'm sorry Menma…" he paused, "But I've found someone else. That's why I came here… to ask for your blessing for mine and Anaru's relationship."
"Jintan…" she said, teary eyed.
"I..I love her," he continued. "My love for her is the sort of love where I want to marry her." He choked. "That's why, please take this as an offering… and please continue to look after us."
Upon on hearing his declaration, the sun began to shine. He could feel Naruko's hand on his shoulder.
He turned around and looked into her eyes lovingly. "I love you, Anaru."
"I love you too, Jinatan." She smiled, wiping away her tears with her sleeve.
They both kissed each other passionately.
