Prompt four: Stupidity

Fitz popped his head around the door to Simmons' bunk. Not there... strange. He'd been looking for her for the best part of half an hour- the Bus wasn't that big, there were only so many places she could be.

He meandered down the hall towards the kitchen area. Skye and Tripp were engrossed in a card game, May was reading, but no sign of Simmons.

"Have any of you seen Jemma?" he asked as he looked behind the couch. He caught May's confused expression and mentally face-palmed; why would she be behind the couch? She's not hiding... we're not a couple of hyper eight year olds.

"No."

"Nope." Skye and Tripp answered in unison without looking up, as May shook her head.

Thanks guys, he grumbled inwardly. Next time I need help I know where to come.

"Actually, come to think of it she was looking for some batteries earlier. She could be in the store room." Fitz gave a quick thumbs up at Tripp's response and made his way back down the corridor and towards the belly of the plane. He really didn't like it down here, it was cold and dark. Not that he'd ever admit to that.

As he neared he could see the door to the store room was closed- she probably wasn't in there. Oh well, he may as well check. He pushed the handle down and forced the heavy door open before stepping into the small room, greeted by a bright-eyed biochemist who was sat cross legged on the floor.

"Fitz! Thank goodness! Don't close the..."

The door slammed shut loudly behind him and Jemma's relieved expression rapidly faded.

"What?!" Fitz looked between his friend and the door, testing the handle. It wouldn't budge.

"The door only opens from the outside," they said in unison.

Jemma sighed, "I'd forgotten. It seems you did too. Do you at least have your phone on you?"

Fitz tapped at the pockets of his jeans and looked at her apologetically.

"Oh Fitz."

"Hey, how was I supposed to know we'd get trapped in a store room? You don't have yours either!"

"You're an engineer- surely its part of your job description to have useful gadgets on you at all times!"

"I'm not Inspector Gadget you know ... and a biochemist should be able to blow their way out of a situation like this with all those... chemicals you carry around with you."

"I don't carry them around. Do you have any idea how dangerous that would be?" Simmons turned from him and tutted. He was being ridiculous. After a short pause she began again, "You know, this is just like the Academy when you..."

"... Oh how did I know this was coming..."

"...got us locked in the laboratory building until four in the morning..."

"...it was one time. It wasn't my fault security didn't check we were still there..."

"... all because you didn't sign us in properly..."

"... it's a ridiculous system anyway."

"... I gave you one job and look what happened." Simmons fixed Fitz with an exasperated glare; the one she reserved for occasions where she wasn't really cross but he was just being... Fitz.

"So I guess we're stuck here then." Fitz kicked his shoe lamely at the doorframe. "Three PhDs between us and we can't get through a door."

Four hours later Skye skipped down the corridor to the store room; May had sent her for a left-handed screwdriver. As she approached she heard the familiar sound of frustrated bickering filtering below the metal doorframe.

"FitzSimmons? I thought you were in the lab?"

"Skye! Don't close the..."

"Oops!"

A.N: So this is just silly and light-hearted. Hopefully I have been able to do some justice to FitzSimmons bickering- it's one of my favourite parts of the show and I hope we get to see some next season!
