AN: Hi. Serious question: is the Faberry fandom still alive? *cries*
"Aha! Got it!" Judy exclaimed as she zoomed in on the only footage they have of that day by the hospital. Lima being a small town, the public officials did not think it was necessary to install multiple hidden cameras around the place. There are only a few cameras put up by the government and the outside of the hospital is one of them. With Judy's expertise on computers, she managed to acquire a stolen image of the assassin, albeit a bit blurry and she has a mask on.
Russell leaned forward from his seat beside his wife, who is currently focused on the computer in front of them. "She's tiny, eh?"
Quinn, who is standing behind the older blondes, snorted. "For someone who has quite a small frame, she's dangerous." The young agent could not shake off the sense of familiraity she got when Judy zoomed in on their enemy.
A beep interrupted Quinn's thoughts. Judy pressed the answer button and a videocall from their General appeared in their seventy-inch monitor. The Fabray trio saluted at the sight of the General.
"Good afternoon, agents. How is your summer in Lima, Ohio?" Though he made eye contact with all of them, the question is mostly directed at Quinn.
"It has been busy. We've been gathering intel about this... assassin, but she's harder to track down than we originally thought. But we have an image of her, it is of bad quality, but it's something," Quinn answered for all of them.
"Do send it to me."
Judy worked the computer and sent all the files- including the photo- they have to the General.
"Interesting." A small frown appeared on the General's face, but it quickly disappeared. "Keep looking for more information..." He clears his throat. "Now, as impertinent this mission we have against the Black Lotus, it is not them I wish to discuss about."
The General's off-character moment weirded the trio out, but decided to let it go.
"What is it you want to talk about, sir?" Russell asked, his posture more rigid and his tone more professional.
"I did not inform the three of you, but there is another senior agent who is currently undercover in Lima, Ohio." The Fabrays nodded, curious to know who this person is. "She is a teacher at William Mckinley High School." This caught made Quinn raise an eyebrow. No one in that school ever gave off the vibe of being trained as a defence agent. "Though I believe in your abilities as elite soldiers, the head office and I have decided that you three will need her help." The General makes a show of looking at his watch before grinning at the three. "She should be making her presence known right about... now" And with that, the screen turned black and the Fabrays heard their doorbell ring.
As a precaution, all three got their handguns ready and tucked in their waistpants. Russell opens the door and Quinn's jaw almost drops to the ground.
"Fabrays," Sue Sylvester greeted with a smirk.
Rachel is getting sloppy. When she burned the shed down, she only thought of getting rid of the evidence, but she did not consider the possible excuse as to why it could possibly burn down. Granted, there are old cans of gasoline stored in that small space, but students rarely frequent that place.
The young assassin shakes her head. She is getting paranoid. She knows she won't ever get caught. The police in Lima don't look much into things, which is what attracted the Russian mafia to stay in the first place.
She grabs one of her samurais and slashes her punching bag in half, growling her frustration out. She hates how careless and undisciplined she has become. She hates how she knows that Valerie would be disappointed in her. Another thing that has Rachel upset is Biff's death. No, she does not miss him. She just does not like the fact that it was Mistress V who finished the job for her. It is her duty to serve the redhead, and she failed.
Rachel is about to do another strike when her Iphone rings. Quinn. Seeing her girlfriend's name simmered her down and she took a deep breath before answering the phone. "Good evening, Quinn. What's up?"
"Hey, Rach. Nothing. I just missed you. Ever since summer started, we didn't have much time to spend with each other."
Rachel sighed. Quinn is right. She has been so busy disposing of Biff's body and covering her tracks, and also trying to clean up every single sloppy move she has made. And Quinn... well, Rachel is not sure what her girlfriend has been doing, but there are times when the blonde is too preoccupied to answer her calls. "Yeah, I guess we've both been busy with our lives. Do you want to do something tonight? Just you and me?"
Rachel can hear Quinn groan through the phone. "I... actually can't tonight. Family stuff."
"Oh, is something wrong?" Rachel asked, concern lacing her tone. She ignored the voice in her head telling her that it is wrong to care about anyone who is not Miss V or the Black Lotus.
Quinn gave a small laugh, touched by her girlfriend's protective nature. "Nah, just a small family dinner. Mom and Dad want to have some bonding moments as a family. They're weird like that. They act as though we don't eat dinner together every single night already."
"That sounds nice."
The blonde could hear the disappointment in Rachel's voice, so she quickly asked "but we can go tomorrow?"
"I... I can't. I have stuff to do. Errands to run." Which is true. Tanaka will be conducting a trade tomorrow with a drug cartel from Vietnam. Rachel will be there to make sure everything goes smoothly.
"Oh."
"Yeah." Rachel was about to tell Quinn that she probably has a few hours of free time in the morning, but her other phone rang. "Um, uh, Quinn? I'll call you back. I forgot I had to make an important phone call to the Lima School Board about bullying in high schools and such."
Quinn, who is currently laying on her bed, stared confusedly at her phone. "School doesn't even start for like a month," she says to the screen, a bit upset how Rachel hung up on her abruptly.
"Yes, Miss V?"
"A mole we have in the government's special defence unit just gave me... very interesting information, my dear," Valerie purred through the phone, excited to bring the news to her star pupil.
"Mhm."
"We have the identity of one of their secret agents."
"Mhm."
"I want you to kill her. I'll give you a week since she's a... senior agent. Lots of experience. Difficult to dispose of, but I'm pretty sure my Rachel can do it."
"Of course, Miss V. Who is it you wish for me to assassinate?"
"Sue Sylvester."
Rachel almost dropped the phone at that. Yes, the Cheerio coach could be intimidating and is known for her gruelling workout routine for the cheerleading squad, but that did not give away that she is a defence agent.
"You're taking too long to answer, my dear."
"I apologize. It will be done, Mistress."
There was a contented hum at the other end of the phone before the call ended.
Rachel just stared blankly at the wall. She has to end Sue Sylvester, someone whose disappearance won't be as easy to cover up. She has to think this through. Covering her tracks won't be the only difficulty. Sylvester is also considered a class one agent- one of the high ranking officials in the defence organization.
She must concoct a plan now.
But first, she has a drug trade to prepare for.
Quinn sat there awkwardly as the three senior agents talked about their times at the Academy. She is still trying to wrap her head around Sue Sylvester being an elite soldier, working for the better good.
"Quinn, darling, Sue asked you something," Judy gave her a pointed look.
"Oh, um, sorry. What was that?"
Sue tsked. "You are a sorry excuse for an agent. You can't even pay attention."
"Sue..." Russell warned, knowing his former classmate's antics.
The cheerleading coach just rolled her eyes and raised an eyebrow at Quinn. "I asked how your relationship with the midget is going."
Wait, what? Why is she asking about that? Did I miss something else? "Um, it's okay, I guess? Why?" Quinn asked before leaning back on the couch, her legs crossed as she flips through the files Sue has brought with her.
"What do you know about her?"
At this, Quinn put the papers she is holding back on the coffee table. "Why are you asking all these questions? Are you planning to get some info out of me so you can have more ammunition for your Cheerios to use against Rachel?" Quinn isn't blind. As much as Rachel tried to hide it, she is aware of how the cheerleading squad, sans Brittany and Santana, sees the girl.
The cheerleading coach leaned forward from her seat. "I couldn't care less about what my squad would do to your smurf, but don't you find it..." Sue cut herself off, sighed and stood up from the couch. "I think it's time for me to go. I have a nightly patrol duty to do. I'll be coming back tomorrow to discuss more about the Black Lotus. And I do apologize for going off track by talking about Berry. Thank you for having me."
The older Fabrays bade their goodbyes and walked the coach to the door. Quinn closed her eyes and wondered how she could work with someone like Sue Sylvester.
Quinn wakes up to Russell's and Sue's loud voices.
Great, the she-devil is here. What a wonderful way to start the day. She begrudgingly gets up from her bed, goes to the bathroom, then makes her way downstairs to the kitchen where the two senior agents are arguing.
"You can't bring Quinn tonight! She is way too inexperienced. I heard of what happened during your failed mission at the hospital. It was mainly her fault." Sue sneered at Russell.
Ouch. What a great morning, indeed. Before Russell could refute the coach's statement, Quinn decided to make her presence known. "Good morning."
"Morning," the two said in unison, calming down a bit. Judy went to the grocery store to buy some necessities, which means there is no one in the house to act as the middleman between the two senior agents.
Russell clears his throat. "Quinn is coming with us and that's final. She, too, is a part of this mission."
Sue raised her hands up in defeat and stormed out of the house.
Quinn pulled out a chair from the dining table and sat on it. "So..." she started, resting her elbow on the table with her cheek on her palm. "What just happened?"
Russell sighs and sits in front of his daughter. "During her patrol last night, she saw a huge group of Asian-looking men."
"And? Asians tend to stick together. I've come to that conclusion ever since I started going to McKinley. That's not something she should freak about."
"Agent Fox, I know Sylvester may be difficult to deal with, but she is still your seniority and I suggest you respect her. She is only looking out for the public's safety."
Quinn felt a sense of shame. Every time Russell uses that serious, professional tone with her, she can't help but be disappointed in herself. She has started treating him like her very own father, and Judy as her mother. "I'm sorry. I was just overwhelmed. I've known her as the ruthless cheerleading coach, who only cared about winning competitions, then suddenly I found out she is also an elite soldier. To change my perception of someone is truly difficult."
Russell gives his daughter a small smile. She is opening up to him as if she known he is her actual dad. "I understand, Quinn. First impressions always last, but that doesn't mean they are correct impressions. Like one of my previous instructors told us in the Academy: you don't truly know someone until you've seen them in the brink of life or death. It didn't make much sense to me back then, but it became a lot clearer when I started going on missions."
"And you've been in life-or-death situations with Sylvester?"
"Agent Snake. Call her Agent Snake." Quinn nodded. "And yes, I have. Which is why I know that even if she is difficult to deal with, she has a good heart."
Quinn gives the older blonde a small smile. "I'll try my best." I will make you and Judy proud.
Russell returned the smile before informing his daughter of tonight's plans.
Rachel is on the lookout. She knows she can easily divert the attention if ever the Lima police would come close, but if there are defence agents around, she has to be extra vigilant.
So far so good. The assassin is on top of a commercial building, and Tanaka and his lackeys seem to only be delivering grocery stocks to a truck that has Walmart's name on it. She grabs her binoculars and checks around the area for possible law enforcers. She grins when she sees a car pull up a few blocks away, and people in elite soldier uniforms step out of the vehicle.
Rachel shoves her binoculars inside her duffel bag and pulls out her katanas, a revolver perched on her hip, and a hidden knife in her boot.
She jumps from building to building, following the group of four agents. She stops when she sees two bigger caravans from opposite ends of the trade location, more defence agents swarming out.
Shit. We're surrounded. Rachel chuckles darkly. More for her to kill then. She follows the four agents first, thinking to eliminate the smaller group first.
Quinn, Sue, Russell, and Judy are all advancing towards the location Sue has told them. They made a fool-proof plan and they are a hundred percent sure that they will be arresting the druglords involved in this trade tonight. All four are armed, and are fully equipped to fight with these groups.
Quinn has her m16 gun ready when she sees a figure expertly jumping from building to building. This is the monster who murdered our comrades in coldblood, she internally fumed and aimed to fire. Sue notices the action and quickly takes the gun away from the young agent. "Wha-?"
"Agent Fox, you are not going to give away our location. We cannot make any noise for now. Let us wait until we get to the drug trade. Are we clear?" Sue whispered harshly.
Quinn steeled her jaw and accepted her m16 back from the older agent. The older Fabrays watched the exchange briefly before noticing the assassin jump down from a building towards them with two swords.
"Shit," Agent Snake cursed before drawing out her baton that extends to a sword.
The other three agents do the same and they all surround their enemy.
Rachel smirked to herself. She is going to have fun tonight. Her smirk turned into a full-blown sinister smile when four more defence agents added to the group currently circling her.
Two of them quickly advanced on her with their baton swords. She easily dodged their attacks and slashed their heads off with her katana, all while trying to avoid the other agents' blades. Two down, six to go.
Judy, aka Agent Crane, swiftly lunged at the assassin and managed to make a cut on her upper arm. Rachel could feel the blood seeping out from the cut, and she suddenly felt more alive and more determined to end all these special agents. The young assassin elbowed Judy's face before plunging the katana through her stomach.
"MOM!" Shouted Quinn, the sound of her voice altered by the headgear she is wearing.
Rachel raised a brow at this information. Families in the defence organization. Interesting, too bad I'm going to kill them all tonight.
"Shit," Sue cursed again before ordering the two agents from the other team to help her attack the enemy.
Russell rushed to his wife's side, as the other agents fight the assassin. "I'm going to take you back to the house, a doctor from the organization is already waiting in there. He was sent by the General, knowing something like this could happen."
Judy is too weak to talk, so she just let her husband carry her to the car and take off from the scene. On the way to their place, they hear gunshots. The drug cartel war has started.
With a renewed determination to capture- not kill- the assassin, Quinn joined Agent Snake and the other two agents in fighting the woman. Hearing the gunshots, it is safe to finally use their guns too. One of the agents reached behind his back for his m16, but was proven too slow when Rachel used his distraction as an opportunity to cut both of his arms off. His piercing scream caught the attention of his partner, who briefly looked at him, but that was enough time for Rachel to stab her straight to the heart.
Now it is just Agent Fox, Agent Snake, and the enemy. The three hears helicopters flying over them, which means more law enforcement back up has arrived. Sua quickly grabbed her m16 and aimed for the assassin's head, but she moved away just as fast and only hit her shoulder. The impact the bullet made forced her left hand to drop one of her weapons.
Rachel knows she is losing. Her arm won't stop bleeding and she just got shot. Getting sloppy. She scanned her surroundings for an escape, but the only way to go is through the two remaining agents, and it seems as though that these two are well-trained. It's do or die, Rachel. She swifly pushed past the two agents, but Quinn grabbed her by her wounded shoulder and threw her down.
The assassin sneered, both her katanas are now splayed out on the floor. Just as Quinn reached for her syringe-like gun to paralyze the enemy, Rachel pulled out her revolver and shot Quinn straight to the head.
Quinn fell to the ground. Even though her headgear saved her from the bullet, the impact was too strong that it made her unconscious. Sue immediately runs to Quinn's side and Rachel takes this opportunity to flee.
Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Is all Rachel could think of as she patched herself up. She got the bullet out from her shoulder, and bandaged all her wounds, but then she glanced at the table where she threw her weapons before trying to heal herself. Everything was there except for two things: her katanas.
Not only did the drug trade fail, but the Vietnamese drug syndicate and their druglord got caught. Several Black Lotus got killed in the gunfight, but, somehow, Tanaka and a few of his lackeys managed to escape.
Rachel still failed her mission though. She was supposed to make sure the deal went smoothly. And she failed. Big time. At this state, she won't be able to kill Sue Sylvester. Unless she is one of those agents you've discarded. Rachel shook her head. No. An elite soldier and professionaly trained as Sylvester would be hard to kill. Yes, she has done her research already. And, yes, she knows she is too weak right now to try and assassinate the defence agent.
Judy and Quinn are in different beds, but in the same room in their basement. The doctor stitched up their wounds and gave them medicine to heal faster. Judy would probably be out longer than Quinn since she has lost a huge amount of blood, and would need time to recover.
Russell and Sue are both quietly sitting in opposite sides of the room.
Sue decided to break the silence. "Judy drew some blood when she cut the enemy. We are sending it to the headquarters to be analyzed, and hopefully acquire whose DNA it belongs to."
"I did that before, y'know? I managed to wound the enemy, but then I left the weapon at the scene. When I went back the next day to retrieve it, while the police were still investigating, it was gone."
Sue has a small frown in her face when she turned her body to Russell. "Do you think someone in power is trying to cover up their tracks?"
Russell shrugged. "That's a given. Is... Can we please not talk about this mission for now? Just give me an hour or two to spend time with my family as they recover."
Sue nodded her understanding and stepped out of the room.
The moment Russell heard the door close, he let his tears go down his face. Seeing his family in this state cemented his drive to end this mission successfully. He is going to make sure the Black Lotus assassin is captured and justice will be served.
Hey, Rach. My family and I will be going out of town for the remainder of the summer. I'm so so sorry if it's all of a sudden and I didn't get the chance to properly say goodbye. We'll be back in Lima before school starts and we should really spend some time together. I love you. -Quinn.
The blonde pressed send before turning off her cellphone and climbing on the helicopter to Headquarters. It has been a week since that drug-bust mission, and not once has she seen Rachel. Neither one of them made the effort to see the other, but at least Quinn tried to keep contacting her girlfriend, but she received no replies.
She and Judy are still recovering, and the General thought it would be best if the Fabray trio stay in the Headquarters for a few weeks. Agent Snake can do their duties in Lima during that time.
Meanwhile, in a basement, Rachel is receiving lashings from Miss V for, not only failing her mission, but also for getting involved with Quinn.
Whip. "I already told you to stay away from her, my dear," Valerie purred.
Whip. "I warned you." Rachel's back has turned crimson red from the blood pouring out of her wounds.
Whip. "...we should really spend some time together. I love you," Miss V holds the Iphone with one hand, the other hand whipping Rachel's back.
Whip. "It's her fault that you becamame sloppy and careless."
Whip. "It's her fault that you weren't able to protect the Black Lotus and our business partners."
Whip. "It's her fault why Sue Sylvester is still alive, and would continue being alive."
Whip. "It's her fault that you disappointed me and brought dishonour to the Black Lotus."
After an hour of whipping her favourite pupil, Miss V prepared a bath for Rachel. "Get in," she orders the young brunette.
Rachel obediently removes all of her clothes and steps in the tub, not even wincing as she completely submerged in the ice-cold water.
Miss V kneels beside the bathtub and starts petting Rachel's head. "Dear, you know I only want what's best for you. You know that, right?"
"Yes, Miss V."
"Good." Valerie kisses the brunette's head before stepping out of the bathroom. "Clean up quickly. I have some... delicious information I want to share with you, my love." And, oh yes. This intel she has received would surely interest Rachel- she would say it would anger her girl, but the assassin does not feel any kind of emotions when she is in this state.
"Yes, Miss V."
A week before the Fabrays go back to Lima, the General calls them to his office.
"What I am to disclose to the three of you is very sensitive information. No one, not even Agent Snake, can know about this," he calmly tells the trio, his expression stoic. The General is known for his rigidity and hardness, but this is the first time any of them has seen him... cold and detached.
The three nodded their agreement.
The General cleared his throat before picking up a remote control and turning on the monitor mounted on the wall. "We found a match for the DNA."
The screen shows a five-year-old girl, who has been declared missing, then dead after a few months. "There has been a carwreck twelve years ago. A little girl was involved. At first she was declared missing, but then authorities confirmed that she, like her parent... her parents, died in the accident."
"Pardon my asking, but are you implying that this girl grew up to be the assassin?" Judy asked, she cannot help but feel bad for the child in the photo. But she still feels absolute disgust towards the assassin.
"That is correct, Crane."
Quinn squints her eyes, willing her mind to decipher who this girl is. She is sure she has seen her somewhere. The girl's big, brown, eyes are so familiar, it almost feels as though she dreams about those eyes every single night. Then her eyes widen. This girl looks a lot like-
"Rachel. Rachel Corcoran. That was the young girl's name."
