Merlin: Please review and have a lovely day

The next day at training they were facing the Gronckle again mush to the others dismay and Arthur's amusement. He watched as the Gronckle head-butted the other teens out the way and almost laughed out loud when the twins were beaten yet again because they couldn't get along. It was when the Gronckle turned towards him that he felt a small amount of fear build up in his chest.
Acting quickly Arthur reached into his vest and pulled out the small clump of Dragon nip he had taken and held his hand out towards the oncoming Dragon. He waited for the impact but was shocked when it didn't come. Instead, a soft, warm muzzle pressed against his hand and when he turned to the Dragon he could see the Gronckle's eyes were wide and it was purring much like Merlin had done.

Rubbing the grass against the Dragon's nose Arthur quickly brought it to the ground and smiled as the dragon continued to purr happily. Gaius shook himself from his shock and quickly put the Dragon back in its cage not noticing the small clump of grass it help in its mouth. The aged man turned to the teens who were all staring at Arthur in shock or awe and cleared his throat.

"Well, that's it for today. I will let you all know when your next lesson it" he said while sending a look at Arthur who was desperately trying to shrink in on himself. As he turned and walked out of the ring he soon found himself surrounded by the other teens but this time, they were talking to him and not in a spiteful way, they were almost…nice?

"Hey Arthur, I've never seen a Gronckle do that before" Percival said excitedly wondering if the boy before him knew something about Dragon's that he didn't.

"How'd you do that?" Mordred asked in awe only to be shoved aside by his twin sister.

"It was really cool" Morgana smiled.

"Hey Arthur!" Percival called from the back of the small crowd the teens had formed around the startled blonde.

"What was that? Some kind of trick? What did you do?" Gawain questioned with a smile wanting to know how to take down a Dragon like his cousin had done.

"I left my axe back in the ring. You guys go on ahead and I'll catch up with you" Arthur lied and as he slipped away he passed Gwen who was still sending him a withering glare. He kept eye contact with her for a few seconds longer before dashing off and slipping into the forest and to where is best friend was waiting for him.
Sure enough, as soon as he entered the cove he was tackled by one very happy Dragon who purred and nuzzled his face all over.

"I'm happy to see you to Merlin" Arthur laughed and gently pushed the Dragon off him and placed a gentle hand on his head making Merlin croon softly to him, "Thanks for the Dragon nip buddy, helped me heaps in training today"

Merlin smiled at this feeling proud of his human who was doing so well in his training. He sat by their small fire pit and watched as Arthur drew more ideas in his sketch book that would hopefully soon have them both flying through the air and above the clouds. The thought made Merlin smile and a deep rumble form in his chest that helped to calm Arthur and made his soul thrum along with Merlin's own. Arthur still wasn't fully sure on the matter, but he was certain that when Merlin's eyes had flashed molten gold a connection had been made with them that bonded their souls together as one. They were each other's halves, two sides of the same coin and were become as close as brothers and Arthur wouldn't want it any other way.

After a while Merlin seemed to grow restless and started to scratch under his chin making Arthur laugh and stand up to give him a hand. He start scratching his friend under his chin making Merlin purr loudly but when he went to scratch right under the part where his jaw met his neck the Dragon gave a gurgling moan and fell to the floor in a heap as if he was made of jelly, a content smile on his face.

"Whoa" Arthur breathed as he stared down at his hand. He could use that in the ring if a dragon got to close and was about to eat him. Once again Merlin had unknowingly shown him something that could help save his life in the ring, almost like it was the Dragon's job to keep the blonde safe.

Sure enough, the next day Arthur found himself in the ring facing the Deadly Nadder that seemed very angry with Gwen for when he had smack it last time. The dragon was on a war path, throwing and batting all the other teens away as they tried to get close to it and roaring angrily. The Nadder's eyes soon found Arthur who frozen under its intense gaze. The dragon started to run at him but the blonde quickly dropped his axe he was holding making the Dragon freeze and start at him in shock.
A loudly battle cry sounded and Arthur saw Gwen rushing forward with her axe held high, ready to bring the dragon down and it filled Arthur's heart with fear for the poor creature. Moving quickly he began to scratch the Dragon much like he'd done with Merlin and then moved to the spot. Just like the Night Fury, the Nadder gave a loud chirp and fell to the floor in a heap looking content and even asleep.

Gwen froze and lowered her axe and just stared at Arthur in shock as he smiled back weakly. The other teens were on him in an instant showering him in praise and he was shocked when he heard Mordred's voice call…

"Arthur, you're totally going to come in first, there's no question"

It made his head spin and also seemed to make Gwen turn red with fury and send a venomous glare towards him. He didn't like the way she clutched her axe tighter and seemed to be eyeing him like one does a piece of meat.

When he finally managed to slip away from the other teens and go see his friend Merlin was beyond hungry and almost knocked Arthur off his feet in his hast to get at the food.

"Whoa slow down Merlin, you almost took me out there" Arthur scolded his friend who whined sadly and looked down at the ground with his bright blue eyes in shame. Arthur rolled his eyes but a smile was playing on his lips. No matter what he couldn't stay mad at Merlin, the dragon was just too funny and gentle. To think that this was the most feared dragon known to Vikings.

"You really are something Merlin Arthur muttered as he played with his little dagger, catching the sun on the blade and making the little light dance across the ground. Merlin looked up from his meal and his eyes went wide when he saw the light and before Arthur knew it the great black dragon had crouched down and punched like a cat after the light.
The blonde stood in shock for a moment before a smile lit up his face and he wiggled the dagger about watching in glee as merlin chased it around the place purring and chirping in joy at the new game they were playing. Arthur for his part couldn't get over how much like a cat Merlin truly was, he was basically an oversized cat with scales.

When a cloud rolled over and the light vanished the game was over and Merlin sat up with a huff and sent Arthur a look clearly blaming him for why his game had to end.

"Hey don't look at me like that Merlin, I don't control the clouds" Arthur protested but the Night Fury just huffed and turned away from him.

Don't care, still your fault

Arthur glowered when he could almost hear what his friend was saying and kicked at the dirt, turning away from Merlin with the intent of stomping back home when he was suddenly tackled to the ground by one very heavy dragon. Arthur wriggled around till he could see Merlin's face and smiled when he saw the playful spark back in them.

Don't go, stay and play

"You want me to stay?" Arthur asked and Merlin rumbled in happiness. The pair spent the rest of the day just wrestling and mucking around acting like brothers would. It wasn't till the sun was almost set that Arthur reluctantly said farewell to his friend who whined sadly and butted his head against the thin teen's chest.

"Oh don't be like that Merlin, you'll see me tomorrow" Arthur smiled and ran his hands over the dragon's head marvelling at the feeling if merlin's scales under his fingers. He stared into those bright blue eyes again and once again he watched them flash molten gold and jumped when a gentle, young and caring male voice filled his mind.

'Don't be too long'

Arthur stared at Merlin in awe knowing that it had been the dragon's voice he'd just heard. Merlin seemed to be smirking slightly at his dumbfounded look and just gave him one last nudge before turning and walking over to his bed of coal. His eyes were half closed and once again blue and stared at him lazily.

"I won't be, I promise" Arthur finally said still in shock before turning and running back home. Merlin watched him go with a smile and nodded his head in satisfaction.

'All in due time young hatchling, all in due time things will become clear'

Frost: As you can see the bond between Merlin and Arthur is growing to the point where soon they will be able to speak to each other

Merlin: Awesome, I'll finally get to talk

Arthur: (Pouting) Great...I mean...yay!

Frost: Good boy
