Author's Note, Not a Chapter:
Okay, I know I've been gone for a million years, but I've been re-hauling this story a bit because I kind of wrote myself into a corner and I didn't like where I was going with it. Year 2 was a bit of a mess, and there were a bunch of things I wanted to do in later years that I couldn't really work into the plot just because of the way it was getting out of hand.
SO – I'm updating the story by rewriting it, fleshing it out, editing it. I can't say yet if it's better than the original, but there's a lot more word count and a lot more character development and relationship development between Harry and Su and their classmates. I have big plans for all the characters, and also a separate idea – Between the Lines – about Su's story when she doesn't befriend Harry. Basically canon-verse from Su's perspective.
It may take a long time, but I'm hoping to start uploading the new chapters soon. I won't take down these old stories, because I do quite like them, but I'll upload a new, revamped version of the story.
I hope you'll enjoy, and thank you for being patient with me!
EDIT:
Thanks for your patience, guys! I'm uploading the new version of the story under the title Beyond the Veil which you can find through my Author's Profile. I will also be uploading the story to Ao3.
Though updates won't be frequent or regular, I am trying to get a pretty high word count in each chapter (between 15-20k words per chapter) so hopefully, no one will be feeling disappointed. To those of you who have read The Road Not Taken already – the first 2 chapters will be largely similar to the original version of the story, though with a few added scenes and more relationship/character development with Su, Nate, and Bea; but, starting from the journey to Hogwarts on the Hogwarts Express the story will have some more significant changes compared to TRNT.
Feel free to review on how you like the changes (and maybe what elements you'd like me to keep) but I hope you all like the new version since I would like to believe I've matured as a writer in the last 6 years!
