A\N: Sorry for the long wait. I've been busy and focused on college plus I fell into a stump. But things have calmed down and I've gotten out of my stump. So here I present to you the final chapter of Lost Memory.
Disclaimer: I own nothing.
Epilogue:
Everyone was gathered in the kitchen eating together. Leo, Raph, Donnie, Mikey, April,
Casey, and Master Splinter were all there. They were talking, laughing, and just having a good time together. Master Splinter sat with a smile on his face observing his sons and their friends.
Raph had an arm around Mikey as they laughed at what Casey just said and Donnie, April, and Leo had big smiles on their faces as they talked. This very happy atmosphere lifted Master Splinter's heart. It wasn't long ago where he feared they were going to lose this. Master Splinter looked over at Leonardo who sensed his stare and looked at him as well. Leonardo smiled at him before going back to his conversation with April and Donnie.
It was only 3 months ago when Leonardo lost his memories and shortly afterwards was tortured by Shredder. They all feared they were going to lose Leo due to the severity of his injuries.
3 months earlier
Mikey was in the kitchen stress cooking. Raph was in the dojo taking his frustrations out on his punching bag. Master Splinter was in his room meditating. April and Casey were in the living room watching TV and trying to keep their minds off Leo. And Donnie was in the lab keeping a constant vigil on Leo's condition. They've all been doing the same thing each day as a way to cope.with Leo's condition since there was literally nothing they could do but wait. They all hated feeling helpless, Raph and Donnie especially. It's been five days since they rescued Leo from Shredder and he was still unconscious. Donnie only ever left the lab when absolutely necessary. He refused to leave Leo alone in his lab. He was scared that if he did when he came back Leo would be gone. Donnie didn't tell his family the reason behind these fears. He didn't tell them that Leo's heart had stopped three times in the last five days. He didn't want them to worry anymore than they already were. It wouldn't help anything.Donnie was tired and frustrated. He just wanted his oldest brother to wake up. He sat down on a stool next to where Leo was set up in the lab and grabbed Leo's hand and held it tightly between his and started talking."Leo I know you are in a lot of pain and you might still not remember anything which is frustrating and means you are probably scared… But we need you. And we really miss you. But most importantly…" Donnie took a shaky breath as he tried to keep the tears from falling. "But most importantly, we love you."At this point, the tears fell. "It's okay i...if you don't remember anything. We'll ma...make new memories together. E..even if the mem...memories never come back, we will still love y..you!" Donnie lifted his hands, dropping Leo's hand, to wipe his tear-stained face. "S..so , I...I'm beg..begging you, please. Please! Wake up!" That's when Donnie collapsed forward crying his heart out on Leo's chest. Eventually Donnie quieted down and dozed off.Donnie woke to the feeling of something touching his head. He lifted his head and sat up yawning and stretching his arms. He immediately looked down at Leo when he heard a small chuckle and froze.Leo was looking at him with a small smile on his face. "Hey Donnie." His voice was scratchy due to the fact that he just woke up. At the sound of Leo's voice , Donnie broke out of his frozen haze and immediately dove at Leo giving him a big hug. Donnie started crying from relief and happiness. Leo weakly pat Donnie's back as his way of returning the hug.Donnie pulled back wiping at the tears in his eyes. Leo chuckled as he sat up. He put his hand on Donnie's shoulder, "It's okay." Donnie looked up at Leo and smiled before he turned his head towards his lab door and yelled out as loudly as he could so the others could hear him. "Guys!!! Come in here! Leo's awake!!!"In the Living Room:Raph, Mikey, April, and Casey were sitting on the couch watching TV or at least trying to. The TV was on but no one could tell you what was on and what it was about due to everyone being lost in thought.Mikey sighed. "Do you think Leo's ever going to wake up?" Everyone could hear the sadness and fear in his voice.April moved over to Mikey and put her hand on his shoulder. "Don't worry Mikey. Leo will wake up and we'll hang out and have fun together again."Mikey looked at April with a small tense smile. "Yeah, you're right April. Leo's going to wake up and everything is going to be fine."Raph had a frown on his face that seemed to get bigger as he sat there thinking. "I'm worried about Masta Splinta." Everyone looked over at Raph. "He hasn't left his room since we got Leo back from Shredder."Casey pats Raph's back. "He's worried. It doesn't help that there is nothing he can do but wait."Everyone lapsed back into silence which means they easily heard Donnie's yelling from the lab."Guys!!! Come in here! Leo's Awake!!!"The four of them jumped up to run into the lab. April shouted out to make sure Splinter knew. "Master Splinter, Leo's awake!" When they entered the lab and saw Leo sitting up and awake, they all froze where they stood as they processed what they were seeing. Because hearing that Leo was awake and actually seeing it are two different things and they needed a moment to process that it was actually true. Leo chuckled at them and waved at them with a small smile on his face. That action made them all snap out of their frozen stupor and they all rushed forward. Leo got crushed in four more hugs. Leo only got a second break after everyone dispersed from the hugging because then everyone started talking at once."We're so glad you're okay!""It's good to see you awake!""We missed you so much!""How are you feeling Leo?!"Before Leo even opened his mouth to try to respond to the jumble of words he heard, Donnie jumped in. "I get you guys are excited, so am I, but…" He was interrupted."Are you hungry?!""Do you want some water?!"Donnie jumped in again trying to calm everyone down. "Guys he needs space!""But Donnie!""Listen to your brother Michelangelo. All of you, Donatello is right, Leonardo needs some space."Everyone turned to Master Splinter and sighed."Hai sensei.""Yes Master Splinter."Then they backed up from Leo so they weren't crowding him and looked to him and they all apologized."Sorry Leo."Leo just chuckled, "It's okay." And with a small smile on his face he told them something they all needed to hear. "And...I'm okay."Everyone smiled at Leo feeling relieved.
Back to the Present
Everyone was hanging out in the living room now that they have finished dinner. Leo got up to use the bathroom. As he walked to the bathroom heb walked past some pictures on the wall. There were a couple of pictures of when he and his brothers were kids, another with them and Master Splinter, and a picture of them with their human friends. Leo paused to stare at them before he went into the bathroom.
While in the bathroom Leo thought about things. A lot has happened. He got hurt and then lost all his memories. Then he freaked out, ran, got captured, and even more hurt. While he did remember a couple of things like the fact that these people are definitely his family and a few more not very significant memories, he still had no recollection of his big memories like his entire childhood or meeting their human friends. On the bright side he still seems to remember how to fight or at least his body does.
Leo mumbled to himself. "Is this really going to work. I want it to work but what if the others one day decide that they don't like me anymore because I don't have my memories." Leo sighed and washed up before exiting the bathroom and heading back towards the living room.
Seeing Leo come back in the room, April stood up and pulled Casey up with her. "Well as much as I'd like to stay, it's getting pretty late and both of us should be getting home before."
Master Splinter stood up as well. "I wish you a safe journey home. And I think it is time I retire for the night. Goodnight April and Casey. Goodnight my sons."
"Goodnight sensei."
"Goodnight Master Splinter."
Before anyone had a chance to leave Leo called out. He knew that what he had to say could wait until the next time they were all together but he didn't want to put it off. He wanted to tell them what was going on through his head. "Wait! Before you guys go and retire for the night there is something I want to say."
Everyone stopped and looked at Leo. Leo looked at the floor. Everyone was quiet waiting until Leo spoke up himself because they didn't want to push him. Finally Leo looked up at them and opened his mouth.
"I know I only have a little bit of my memories back and none of them are real big important memories of our times together. They're just simple memories of who you guys are and that we are family which makes trusting you all easy and I'm sorry for how I acted towards you guys before I ran out of our home. I also remember simple things like our age, birthday, favorite colors, and favorite food but other than that nothing. All those childhood memories that made me who I was and gave us the family and brotherly bond we share I can't remember and I'm sorry. I hope one day I'll regain all my memories back not just for your guys' sake but because I want to remember. I know that there is a possibility that I'll never recover these lost memories back. And if I don't I'm more than happy to make new memories with you all. I hope you all don't mind and that you can be happy being my family even though I'm not the same Leo who you all have known the past 16 years."
Leo bowed his head and had tears in his eyes. Everyone ran up to Leo and pulled him into a group hug. Master Splinter walked over and affectionately pat his head. They all stepped back and looked at Leo.
"It's okay Leo. We love you. The past you and the new you. Even if you never get your memories back we will always love you." Leo looked at Donnie.
"Yes Leo. You are still our older brother no matter what. You've always been there for us even if we didn't want you there and we will always be there for you." Leo glanced at Ralph.
"We are family no matter what. And while it might take some time getting used to the fact that you don't remember the last 16 years but making new memories together will be fun!" He smiled at Mikey.
"There might be times where we all get frustrated but we are all in this together." April smiled.
"There is no need to worry dude!" Casey gave him a thumbs up.
"Lost memories or not, we are still here my son."
Leo smiled at all of them, tears streaming down his face. "I love you all too. Thank you!"
Leo's brothers pulled him into another hug all of them laughing.
The End.
